  1. '11 players must do their job'published at 13:42 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Burnley v Man Utd (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on issues in defence: "It's not about from the back, it's about 11 players doing their job.

"I said many times, we attack with 11 and defend with 11, so when one or two don't do their job then it goes like a pack of cards."

  2. 'Mentality doesn't change'published at 13:38 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Burnley v Man Utd (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on facing Burnley: "At United you have to win every game so the mentality doesn't change.

"As always, it's about how we play against Burnley. There is no easy game, especially against Burnley. We know how intense they play and I must say I like their approach and their adventure. I like the intensity and dynamics. We must play our best."

  3. 'Individuals not performing'published at 13:36 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Burnley v Man Utd (Sat, 20:00 BST)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on Andre Onana's performances: "It's about the team and as a team we haven't been getting results.

"Individuals haven't brought the performance you expect and it's not only one player but more, including the manager."

  4. 'In time we will see Onana's true value'published at 13:35 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

European football expert James Horncastle believes the lack of "stable enviroment" at Manchester United has contributed to goalkeeper Andre Onana's difficult start to life at the club.

Since replacing David de Gea as United's number one, Onana has conceded 14 goals in six games and was at fault for Leroy Sane's opener in Wednesday's 4-3 Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich.

"There has been a lot of focus on Onana since he joined the club," Horncastle told BBC Radio 5 Live's Euro Leagues podcast.

"He's presented as this playmaker but there's more to him than that. I don't think he's been signed exclusively to make line-breaking passes and help United beat the press.

"They want a shot stopper as well. As much as people watched the Champions League final and saw this goalkeeper who could play with his left and right, he kept eight clean sheets in the competition last year and saved six goals above average.

"He came under a lot of fire from Inter's opponents in that campaign and kept them in games with his hands, not his feet. In time, we will see the true value of Onana but at this moment, as with everything at Manchester United, it is a club that does not have a stable environment.

"It is highly pressurised and is not an easy environment to come into or play in. It's no surprise that over the last 10 years a lot of players have gone to United and struggled and left, and then done really well."

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on whether he has been surprised by the challenges he's faced: "No. It's my second year, I know it's not always only going up, you will have gaps and you can get stronger from it. That's what we are doing in the dressing room, with all staff and coaches.

"Everyone is united and at United you fight."

Brighton v Bournemouth (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi has given a fitness update after the club's first game in Europe on Thursday and said that midfielder Pascal Gross could miss Sunday's game against Bournemouth.

Defender Lewis Dunk may not be risked having missing the home defeat by AEK Athens but in-form striker Evan Ferguson (illness) could return on Sunday.

"Pascal has a muscular problem, we have to analyse the situation," said De Zerbi. "With Lewis we can’t take any risks, especially at this point of the season.

"With Evan, there’s a chance he can play. I don't know the situation with James Milner."

  9. 'No pressure on Broja'published at 13:23 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Chelsea v Aston Villa (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Chelsea

More from Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino Armando Broja: "He might be involved at the weekend, but it's after eight or nine months that he's been out so we can't put responsibility on him.

"It must be a collective effort and not just offensive players but the whole team.

"We can't expect that Broja will go and score with his first touch, he needs time."

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on the reaction he expects from fans: "I believe that the fans will be behind us. It's normal that when you don't win they are disappointed and show their feelings. They won't be happy after a draw at Bournemouth.

"Fans always want to win and I'm sure they will support us. The players need their support."

  13. 'Will football allow the time needed at Chelsea?'published at 13:06 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Have we ever seen such a turnaround of playing staff and money spent as we have at Chelsea? It's incredible.

Last season, we saw someone who was a wonderful coach at Brighton not being able to find his way through. Now we have one of the best managers in the world not being able to get through it quickly.

They should have had better results than they have - that's a given - but it's a bit like at Nottingham Forest at the start of last season where they had too many players and no way of sieving through them.

One thing we do need to say though is that Chelsea have a load of injuries. They have got a full football team out! It's insane. How do you coach that?

They have got a great manager, have invested in some wonderfully talented young players and now they have to find a way to get results and find a formula that works.

We might see a different Chelsea over a period of time but I don't know if football allows that period of time because the pressure increases so quickly.

  14. 'Circumstances have given us time to work'published at 13:00 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Chelsea v Aston Villa (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on the feeling of not being involved in Europe: "It has been good to recover players from the international break.

"The circumstances have given us time to work and we've had a really good week.

"It's a time that, of course, for the fans is difficult because they are used to being in Europe but we need to take advantage of the situation."

  15. Grealish could make Man City returnpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Man City v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola with some more team news: "Jack Grealish is coming back, he's training well and could be ready.

"Mateo Kovacic is almost [ready], he's in the last part of the recovery, but now we've lost Bernardo Silva for a few days. John Stones and Kevin de Bruyne are still out."

Asked about Saturday's opponents Nottingham Forest, Pep Guardiola said: "They were able to do an incredible game [against Chelsea] at Stamford Bridge, they fought a lot against Arsenal away and at Manchester United they had two [goals] after a few minutes. Last season we couldn't win there, they did a good game and we missed chances.

"We cannot deny that last year and this year, [playing] at home we feel good, but tomorrow at home we have to do it again.

"When he (Steve Cooper) took over two seasons ago in the Championship they were not good, then after he made an incredible run and got promoted," Guardiola added.

"They struggled all season (last season) but finished really well with a lot of signings. To settle this is not easy but they did it, and this season they have started really well and made a lot of points - much more points than last season. They are a physical team, well organised and the pace in transitions is really, really high.

"We must be careful, of course we’re optimistic to do what we have to do in front of our people, and will try to make it six wins in a row."

  18. Silva out for up to two weekspublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Man City v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is now speaking to the media and gave an update on midfielder Bernardo Silva, who became the latest player to join City's injury list as he came off during the Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade in midweek.

"It's a little injury, not much," he said. "I don't know - a week, two weeks, he will be out."

Asked about why his side has got so many injuries, Guardiola said simply: "A lot of games. Less games, less injuries. We've had a lot of games for a lot of seasons in a row with not much rest, it's just that. We demand a lot of effort from the players. Sometimes they can’t sustain it and sometimes I like it.

"Jack [Grealish] was [ruled] out at Sheffield United with a knock on his knee - that’s football, it happens. But normally the muscular issues are [due to] a lot of games."

Can't believe Real Madrid didn't see the potential in Odegaard, we really have a true skipper who can lead us to silverware.

    Mason

Excited for Odegaard. Was worried for him when he career seemed to stumble after his move to Real Madrid, but at Arsenal he looks like he's thriving.
