  1. 'What a strike'published at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

    Eastleigh 1-1 Reading

    Mick Gooding
Ex-Reading player/manager on BBC Radio Berkshire

Femi Azeez has certainly not had the best 90 minutes but wow - what a strike. As soon as it left his boot you could see the keeper had no chance. Fantastic strike!

  2. Postpublished at 90 mins

    Eastleigh 1-1 Reading

The introduction of Lewis Wing gave Reading a stability in midfield they had been lacking beforehand.

    He's been the second-half difference.

Reading's Tom Holmes comes together at the back post on the attack, with Scott Quigley, in what looks like a particularly intimate Strictly routine before they both tumble to the dancefloor. No penalty. Craig Revel Horwood might have savaged it.

    Six added on.

    Eastleigh 1-1 Reading

It's been one-way traffic the last 10 minutes or so and now you fear for Eastleigh.

    Femi Azeez

Blockbuster from Femi Azeez and Reading are finally level.

Lewis Wing hooked a ball into the box which Eastleigh could only return to him.

The second time off-set it to Azeez, who as the ball bounced up cut across it with a savage half-volley which ripped violently past Joe McDonnell.

  5. Stockport noses in frontpublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

    Aldershot 1-2 Stockport

    Phil Brown
Former Bolton assistant manager on BBC Radio Manchester

Aldershot have got quality but Stockport have got their noses in front and you’d expect that, as a league club, they’ll stay in front.

They’ve certainly got the quality, composure and experience - they just need to bring all that together.

  6. CLOSE!published at 84 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

    Reading come close again.

Sam Smith meets a fine cross by Clinton Mola but Ludwig Francillette blocks it, and Paul Mukairu can only scuff the rebound at goal, with Joe McDonnell recovering to save.

  7. Postpublished at 83 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

Tivonge Rushesha is on for Reading, as Amadou Mbengue's yellow is his last act.

  8. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

Bailey Clements is sent airborne by a lunge from Reading's Amadou Mbengue.

Lewis Smith is swift to his pocket to penalise Mbengue.

  9. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

Sam Smith certainly isn't getting the benefit of the doubt from this lino because he's timed his run to perfection for Reading twice now and been pinged both times.

Both times, the first-touch was like placing a wedding ring on a silk cushion. Beautiful. Wasted.

  10. Postpublished at 76 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

Reading's Harlee Dean powered forward but his supporting run in the box was the kind a centre-half in nosebleed territory might make, and Paul Mukairu's cross drifts just simply into Joe McDonnell's path in the Eastleigh goal.

Eastleigh are doing an amazing job of keeping them out. They’ve got five across the back and are protecting their goal very well.

  12. goal

GOAL: Aldershot 1-2 Stockportpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

    Paddy Madden (46 mins)

What a start to the second half!

Stockport have turned it around just 33 seconds after the interval as Paddy Madden turns home Nick Powell's slide-rule pass from six yards out.

I wonder what Dave Challinor said to his team at half-time? What ever it was, it's worked.

  13. SECOND HALFpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

Chesterfield 1-0 Leyton Orient & Aldershot 1-1 Stockport

We are back under way in our other two cup ties.

  14. Postpublished at 76 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

    Reading again. Same story though.

Amadou Mbengue arcs the perfect cross into the middle from the right for the Royals, but a rising Sam Smith can't get over the ball and it booms over the top.

The opportunities are racking up now.

  15. Postpublished at 74 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

Reading push again. Femi Azeez crosses to the back post, it's nodded down smartly for the on-rushing Clinton Mola - but his half-way house of a miskick is tame at best.

Didn't trust himself to give it the requisite beans.

  16. Postpublished at 71 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

The final ball today has been so poor from Reading.

Lewis Wing drifted a perfect back-spin pass into Amadou Mbengue down the right to get Reading in behind.

    Whacked it like a clearance.

  17. Still hope for Readingpublished at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

    Mick Gooding
Ex-Reading player/manager on BBC Radio Berkshire

I just think with the chances Eastleigh missed in the first half and their disallowed goal that the game could have been over. But it’s not and Reading are still well in this.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 68 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

Lewis Wing races forward, piling into the Eastleigh box after good work from Femi Azeez, but Joe McDonnell makes a smart save.

Wing then tumbles in a 50-50 with an Eastleigh defender for Reading, but there was a touch before it went out. No penalty.

It’s a job really well done by Chesterfield in the first half. We’ve got to be mindful and respect that Leyton Orient are 16th in League One. They’ve got quality players and will create an opportunity in the second half. But I do think Chesterfield deserve the lead.

  20. Postpublished at 64 mins

    Eastleigh 1-0 Reading

Reading look to have fashioned a great chance as Lewis Wing slings a perfect ball over the top and Sam Smith's first touch is velvety-soft.

However, the linesman's flag means it's all in vain. He looked on to me.
