Re: VAR. Referees are under too much pressure so not surprising mistakes are made. Improve the behaviour of players on the pitch and get rid of the manager & coaches on the touchline (& 4th official.) It seems to work in rugby.

Looking at transcript and there needs to be clearer communication like with cricket. Clearly say the on pitch decision before the check starts, rather than just saying on or off, say the full sentence every time “check complete, overrule decision, onside” or “uphold decision, offside”

A timely intervention from Burnley, who lead at the break thanks to Lyle Foster's injury-time goal.

That is Foster's third goal of the season, picking up where he left off before his suspension.

James Trafford needs to be alert as a short back pass almost allows in Chiedozie Ogbene. The Burnley keeper is out, though, and hammers his clearance over the stand.

    Luton 0-1 Burnley

Vincent Kompany bemoaned his side not taking their chances at the weekend. Well, they've taken a crucial one now.

That's a big lead for the side with just one point on the board so far.

    Back with a bang!

It opens up for Burnley as Sander Berge carries the ball forward. His neat pass releases Lyle Foster, who gathers, runs away from the last defender and slots into the bottom corner of the Luton net.

We'll have three added minutes. That's not gone down well with the Luton fans who believe Burnley have wasted a lot more this half.

Oh Zeki Amdouni, there was your moment!

The initial corner is half cleared but Burnley come again and a cross from the left finds Amdouni in plenty of space. He treads on the ball, though, in the process of trying to shoot. It allows Luton's defence to rally, rob him and clear.

Burnley have another corner as Luca Koleosho's deep cross is tapped behind.

    Now what's this nonsense?

Alfie Doughty goes to try and get the ball off Connor Roberts and has his hand around his head for a moment. The Burnley man drops like he's just taken a haymaker to the chin. It needs the ref to have a polite word.

The home fans chant for VAR, but we don't need any of that.

    Luton 0-0 Burnley

It's clear the home fans think Burnley are already taking plenty of time over throws and goal kicks. They're quick to shout their ire at the officials.

    Poor.

Luca Koleosho is found on the left, cuts inside and slices his shot from range well, well wide of goal.

    The game's first yellow card.

    This is livening up now.

Another cross, this time from the left, is glanced on by the head of Jacob Brown but sent wide.

    But wait... a home chance!

The ball is whipped in from the right and met by the diving Chiedozie Ogbene, but he is under pressure and nods the ball wide.

    Probably Luton's best chance.

Zeki Amdouni again oozes a bit of class as he dips his shoulder to beat a man in the middle. He has team-mates for company but goes alone and fires his shot from range over.

Burnley just starting to exert a bit of authority on the game.

Can't take your eyes off this one in a very vibrant atmosphere.

All very frenetic which will suit the home side although Burnley have just had the game's best chance.
