Sheffield Wednesday fans at Home Park must be wondering what's just happened.

Their side were the better of the two for most of that half, but those final four minutes have given them a mountain to climb.

It doesn't bode well for the Owls - they've not scored in five matches and have yet to score three goals or more in a game this season.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

    Stoke 0-0 Leeds

Stoke v LeedsImage source, PA Media

Encouraging fare for Stoke as they frustrate high-flying Leeds at the Bet365.

The home side had several chances, with Ilian Meslier standing firm.

Leeds lacked the same frequency of chances, but did come close when Mark Travers denied Joel Piroe and then Georginio Rutter in quick succession.

    Good game.

    Stoke 0-0 Leeds

Pascal Struijk has to hack away with the ball bobbling towards the Leeds line.

Ryan Mmaee didn't give up on a ball which Leeds were trying to shepherd out, Leeds dallied, the Moroccan didn't

    Just didn't happen but nearly!

We're getting started again across our five 'early' Championship kick-offs.

Can Wayne Rooney inspire a Birmingham comeback against Hull?

As it stands, Ipswich will move a further two points clear of third-placed Leeds, while bottom side Sheffield Wednesday will become even more stranded in the relegation zone.

But there's plenty of time for things to change.

    Stoke 0-0 Leeds

Stoke get a free-kick on the edge of the Leeds box, after Pascal Struijk blocks off Ryan Mmaee...

Andre Vidigal gets the shot away after a three-man conflab... whacks the wall disappointingly,

What a let down given the dialogue that preceded it.

Liam Delap has now put Hull City 1-0 up away from home - with a goal in the opening 20 minutes - three times this season.

On the first of those occasions at Carrow Road in early August, Norwich City came back to win 2-1, with goals in first-half added time and then in the sixth minute of second-half added time.

On the second at Leicester in early September, they hung on to win 1-0 - still the only points the Championship leaders have dropped this season.

But this is St Andrew's in late October. And there have been chances at either end. It may be 0-1 at half-time again, but surely there are more goals to come. And it would make Wayne Rooney's world a lot happier if Blues can get one or two of them and save this season's unbeaten home record.

    Stoke 0-0 Leeds

Concerted spell of pressure for Leeds, at least possession-wise, but the well-drilled Stoke backline have the answer when the ball goes into the box looking for Willy Gnonto.

    Stoke have been solid.

It's very early days for Wayne Rooney at Birmingham, but things haven't started too well in the St Andrew's dugout for the Manchester United and England legend.

    Argyle celebrateImage source, Rex Features

What a final 10 minutes of the first half from Plymouth, who banged in a pair of goals in quick succession.

Sheffield Wednesday are on the ropes - an all-too familiar position.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

    Bristol City 0-1 Ipswich

In-form Ipswich are in control and it's thanks to a bouncing beauty of a goal from Nathan Broadhead who fired home from just inside the box after 15 minutes.

Bristol City with work to do after the break.

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

    Preston 0-1 Southampton

A beautiful curling shot from Southampton's Kyle Walker-Peters is the difference in this cagey affair.

No side has really taken control of this match so far.

But Saints enter the break on top after a super goal at Deepdale.

  12. Wednesday sucker punchedpublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

    Plymouth 2-0 Sheff Wed

    Brent Pilnick
    BBC Sport at Home Park

Wednesday don't know what has hit them.

Six or seven minutes ago they were in control and by far the best team here at Home Park.

But those two goals have proved a real sucker punch for Danny Rohl's side - it looks like tonight might be another cross in the loss column for the Owls.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

    Birmingham 0-1 Hull

Hull have the lead at half-time and Liam Delap's goal to punish a Birmingham defensive lapse is the difference.

Blues under Wayne Rooney have shown signs they can come back into this, but they must cut out the silly mistakes which have given Hull all sorts of joy.

Advantage Liam Rosenior in the battle of two old pals.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

    Rotherham 0-0 Coventry

Nothing between these two at the halfway stage.

Both sides have had chances. No-one broken the deadlock.

    Time for a break.

    Morgan Whittaker (45+1 mins)

    Argyle celebrateImage source, Rex Features

Plymouth have come to life and doubled their lead just before the break.

Wednesday get it all wrong at the back, their defenders confused and out of position.

Morgan Whittaker seizes the opportunity and tucks the ball into the back of the visitors net.

  16. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

    Stoke 0-0 Leeds

Stoke want a penalty but Paul Tierney shakes his head.

Daniel Johnson played into Mehdi Leris, who rolls his man Joel Byram and then goes down in the box.

Leeds deemed not to have made the right contact. Close though, did he have a case?

  17. Bundu belter boosts Argylepublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

    Plymouth 1-0 Sheff Wed

    Brent Pilnick
    BBC Sport at Home Park

What a way to mark your first start!

Mustapha Bundu almost kicked the leather off that ball as he pulverised the free-kick into the top corner - it clipped the underside of the bar on the way through to make it all the sweeter.

It's sent this Home Park crowd crazy after a first half that had been sticky for the hosts.

Wednesday can count themselves lucky they are not down to 10 men - Dominic Iorfa probably should have been sent off after upending Morgan Whittaker when he was clean through, but Bundu's goal from the resulting free-kick has ironed out that wrinkle for the Argyle fans.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:34 British Summer Time 25 October 2023

    Preston 0-1 Southampton

From Southampton's Gavin Bazunu and he knows it!

The ball is rolling around the six-yard-area and a Preston player fires off a twisting shot from close range.

Bazunu sticks out his right leg and saves what looked like a sure goal.

He stands up and pumps both his fists ... he is cooking right now.

    A thunderbolt of a free-kick!

Mustapha Bundu blasts Plymouth Argyle into the lead just before half-time.

In off the underside of the crossbar.

Home Park is bouncing and Sheffield Wednesday find themselves behind again.

    Birmingham 0-1 Hull

Siriki Dembele is picked out by Juninho Bacuna, gets a shot sway from the edge of the box and Hull are reliant on Ryan Allsop to scramble and beat away.

More like it from the Blues. But still they trail.
