Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)

The pace in this one has certainly slowed. It's almost as if both sides have accepted their fates.

It's hard to envisage any change in status here.

    Brann: Through.

    City: Oot.

Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)

Brann seem quite content to let City have more of the ball. Now the onus is on the visitors to do something with it.

Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)

Emily Whelan nips back onto the pitch and sizes up goal straight away.

Her effort is blocked and perhaps just as well. Not sure the Brann players would have been best pleased with the referee for allowing her back in on transition.

Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)

Early knock in this second period for Emily Whelan.

The City players aren't shy of getting stuck in. So far though, they're coming off worse for wear.

  5. KICK-OFF SECOND HALFpublished at 46 mins

Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)

Brann get the second half under way.

Is there any way back for City? Surely not...

  6. Bergen for more attentionpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    HT: Brann 0-1 Glasgow City

Again, I feel like we have to mention that brilliant crowd in Bergen.

Last season was a special year for Scottish attendances. It's these types of atmospheres that will keep the women's game thriving.

  7. Brann starve oppositionpublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

HT: Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)

A reminder, Brann haven't conceded a goal in eight games. EIGHT GAMES.

They'll be approaching 800 minutes of football without letting one in if they preserve their clean sheet tonight. Colossal stuff.

  8. What does the gaffer say?published at 18:57 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

HT: Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)

What does Leanne Ross say at half-time?

Is it a case of restoring pride and playing the kind of attacking football that led to City lifting their 16th league title, or is it just shut up shop and attempt to protect her players' confidence for the weeks ahead?

HT: Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)

You really felt like City were going to have to come out swinging, but in truth, they've barely come out the traps.

Brann just look a cut above last season's SWPL winners. How quickly will their minds return to domestic action?

  10. HALF-TIME Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)published at 18:49 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

If the comeback was improbable before kick-off, it's now verging on impossible.

The Norwegian champions are coasting through to the group stage of the Champions League.

You have to think it's a case of damage limitation for City now.

Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)

Emily Whelan looks like she might go all the way herself, but wrong elects to take the strike just as the cavalry was arriving.

The SWPL side out of sorts.

Interesting minute or so for Larissa Crummer.

First, she's absolutely chopped down by Megan Foley, who deservedly goes into the box for her challenge.

From the following free-kick, she glances the ball towards goal but it bounds wide.

Kinga Kozak down receiving treatment while her teammates grab some water, and search for their composure.

She's back up and continuing on.

And they don't look done yet.

One shot fizzes wide. One shot gratefully grasped by Lee Gibson.

    City are frozen in Norway.

  15. goal

GOAL Brann 1-0 Glasgow City (agg 5-0)published at 34 mins

    Marthine Ostenstad

I did say it looked dangerous...

But it also so easy for the hosts to kill this game off completely. The ball into the box isn't dealt with and Ostenstad can take her time to prod the ball into the far corner.

Big ovation at the Brann Stadion.

  16. Postpublished at 33 mins

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

Free-kick high up on the right for Brann. This looks dangerous.

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

The resulting corner sees a proper stramash in the box, with Ingrid Ostervold Stenevik going closest before it's deflected behind.

City launch a counter from the subsequent set piece, but Lauren Davidson fails to find the two players in green who had burst a gut to get forward.

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

    Big save from Lee Gibson!

City once again play themselves into trouble as Brann seize the ball high up the park.

It allows Larissa Crummer a fierce strike at goal, but the City goalkeeper makes herself big.

Space. So much space for Brann.

  20. Postpublished at 25 mins

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

Every time City string a few passes together, they seem to play themselves back into trouble.

    Frustrating for the Scottish side.
