Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

We had a rather tame Lauren Davidson effort on goal a few minutes ago, but that aside, Glasgow City have looked lightyears away from troubling Brann.

What can Leanne Ross do to give them hope in this increasingly daunting dask?

  2. Postpublished at 18 mins

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

Rakel Engesvik looks a cracking player btw. Two goals last week and plenty of silky touches so far this evening.

  3. Postpublished at 17 mins

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

Another chance on the goal for the hosts.

Rakel Engesvik rises high above Anna Oscarsson to nod a headed ball goalward, though it's an easy catch for Lee Gibson.

  4. Postpublished at 15 mins

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 0-4)

City are knocking the ball around in the opposition half for the first time, but Linda Molthalo cheaply gives up possession.

Brann, meanwhile, are shifting it around with ease.

  5. Postpublished at 12 mins

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

The hosts are loving life down the left-hand side.

It's telling when Lauren Davidson, one of the SWPL's finest attacking stars, is having to track back constantly. Long night ahead.

  6. Postpublished at 10 mins

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

Have to say again, that's a cracking crowd from the good folks of Bergen.

Those Brann players deserve a healthy audience after their ruthless display in Glasgow last week.

    They're making plenty of noise!

  7. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 8 mins

Brann 0-0 Glasgow City (agg 4-0)

And Brann think they have another early goal.

This time though, it's ruled Rakel Engesvik has handled the ball on her way to prodding the ball beyond Lee Gibson.

The warning signs are just as glaring as they were last week.

  8. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Brann 0-0 Glasgow City

City having to stay resolute in these early stages but standing up to the test so far.

Rikke Nygard heads over from the centre of the box, giving the visitors a bit of reprieve.

  13. Engesvik rakes in goalspublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Brann v Glasgow City (18:00)

Rakel Engesvik will no doubt be targeted for special attention by tonight's visitors.

The 25-year-old Norwegian midfielder scored twice at Petershill Park and has now found the net five times in five games.

  14. Brann's defence show fibrepublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Brann v Glasgow City (18:00)

Brann will be disappointed to be sitting fourth in their domestic Toppserien table, but Martin Ho's side are now unbeaten in eight outings, winning seven of them and scoring 29 times in the process.

More worryingly for City is that Brann have not conceded a single goal in those last eight games.

  15. City have 'really good feeling'published at 17:51 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Brann v Glasgow City (18:00)

Glasgow City defender Anna Oskarsson expressed relief that her side escaped Aberdeen with three points on Sunday despite falling 2-1 behind and was pleased with the preparations for tonight's game.

"We've had a really tough schedule, so the three points are the most important thing, so happy with that," the Swede told Glasgow City TV.

"We have a really good feeling in the squad. Hopefully we just have a really good game."

  16. City on slide?published at 17:49 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Brann v Glasgow City (18:00)

It's not been a good month for City.

Having started the season unbeaten in 10 games, a draw away to title rivals Rangers being their only blip, their season has threatened to unravel since Colette Cavanagh's late winner earlier this month gave Celtic a 2-1 victory over the reigning SWPL champions.

Leanne Ross' side next laboured to a 3-0 win at home to Spartans, were battered by Brann and then came close to a shock defeat away to Aberdeen on Sunday before securing a narrow 3-2 victory.

Whether or not they produce a great escape tonight, City will return to league action on Sunday against Montrose five points adrift of Celtic and three behind Rangers in a league where the top three rarely drop anything against any of the other sides.

  17. Changed days for Citypublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Brann v Glasgow City (18:00)

There was a time when City players dominated Scotland squads. Not so now.

Only goalkeeper Lee Gibson and winger Lauren Davidson were included in the 23 named by Pedro Martinez Losa today for the forthcoming Nations League double header against the Netherlands. Read more on that here.

Brann also have two players called up to their national squad for matches against France - goalkeeper Aurora Mikalsen and defender Marit Bratberg Lund.

Meanwhile, defender Marthine Ostenstad and midfielder Justine Kielland have also been selected for Norway Under-23s.

  18. Petershill scorers return for Brannpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Brann v Glasgow City (18:00)

Brann field the same XI who thumped City at Petershill Park.

Defender Marit Bratberg Lund and midfielder Karoline Haugland, who both scored in Glasgow, midfielder Justine Kielland and forward Larissa Crummer all return.

Tomine Svendheim, Mille Aune, Maria Brochmann and Johanna Renmark drop out after their 4-0 weekend win over Arna-Bjornar.

  19. Will City's Euro tradition tell?published at 17:38 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Brann v Glasgow City (18:00)

City have a proud European record considering they are the last independent women's football club to have reached the Champions League quarter-finals.

But that was back in 2019-20 - the second time they had gone that far.

City haven't ventured as far since the new group stage introduced, narrowly losing out the last time they reached the current play-off stage two seasons ago - 3-2 on aggregate to Swiss side Servette.

Then, last season, they were beaten 3-1 in the earlier first-round mini-group semi-final by Roma, with the Italians going on to reach the quarter-finals.

  20. Brann heading for group stage debut?published at 17:35 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

    Brann v Glasgow City (18:00)

Both Brann and City are looking to reach the Champions League group stage, which was introduced three years ago, for the first time.

Brann fell at this hurdle last season, losing the second-leg 3-1 away to Rosengard of Sweden after a 1-1 draw in Norway.

Then Scottish champions Rangers suffered even greater heartbreak, losing 2-1 after extra time away to Benfica having come close to recovering from a 3-2 home defeat in the first leg.

Benfica would go on to finish third in their group, their only points coming in two victories over a Rosengard side who lost all six of their games.
