Unai Emery theatrically shrugs his shoulders as if to say "what was that!?" as Moussa Diaby puts too much on a volley to the back post and the ball goes behind for a goal kick.

He's polite and charming in post match press conferences but, for a player, Emery definitely feels like a manager you don't want to anger.

And great defending at the other end of the pitch as Boubacar Kamara slides in on Anthony Elanga to take the ball from his feet inside the box.

That could have been risky but he timed the tackle to perfection.

Aston Villa are getting a bit more dangerous now and Lucas Digne chests down a cross at the back post but Anthony Elanga defends well to deflect the shot behind for a corner, which is then cleared by Murillo.

Harry Toffolo is getting the better of Matty Cash. Toffolo has come in and he's done a good job so far. Cash has had a good season though.

It'll be a good battle down that side.

Good defending by Murillo as he heads away a dangerous Lucas Digne cross with plenty of Aston Villa players lurking in the box.

This is what Unai Emery was talking about recently when he was saying his Aston Villa side still need to find the consistency to perform at their best every game. So far, Villa have been disappointing in the final third.

Moussa Diaby and Ollie Watkins have been really quiet. They haven't gotten them into the game at all so far.

Javel Bleach: Ref should have allowed that last shot on goal & then gone to VAR if need be. Very generous to Villa there.

First test of sorts for Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos as Nicolò Zaniolo's cross curls towards goal but Vlachodimos is alert to it.

Matty Cash volleys over as he meets a cross at the back post but it wouldn't have counted if it had gone in because Ollie Watkins was offside in the build up.

Anthony Elanga is away again down the left and Nottingham Forest players charge forward in support. Elanga tries to play in Harry Toffolo on the overlap but releases the ball too late and it is cut out.

Lucas Digne, he's good going forward but he doesn't like defending.

He doesn't like to go back to his own box and defend in a one-on-one situation.

Matty Cash is seeing a lot of the ball for Aston Villa down the right. He manages to get a cross in and finds Nicolò Zaniolo unmarked but he heads over. The ball was a bit behind him so was tough to get proper contact.

A good ball into the box from a free kick by Morgan Gibbs-White. It bounces around and off Nicolò Zaniolo, there's a shout for handball before it is cleared.

Aston Villa win the game's first corner, it is played short to Douglas Luiz but he overcooks his ball to the back post and it goes behind for a goal kick.

Nottingham Forest fans will hope their side does not now sit back having taken the lead so early.

That goal was just reward for Nottingham Forest's positive start, they were really on the front foot and caught Aston Villa cold down the left a couple of times.

It's a sidefoot and it has got to be one of the hardest sidefoot finishes I've seen but he guides it into the bottom corner.

It is a fantastic finish.

But the first real chance goes Nottingham Forest's way as Harry Toffolo leads the charge down the left. The ball is worked to Nicolás Domínguez on the edge of the area but his first-time effort is always going wide.
