Nottingham Forest have a very strong home record with just two defeats in 19 games at the City Ground since September 2022 (W8 D9).

In the same time period, only Manchester City and Liverpool (one each) have fewer home Premier League defeats than Forest (two).

It is a Nottingham Forest debut for Greece international goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos as Matt Turner is dropped to the bench.

That's one of three changes from the side that lost 3-0 at Liverpool. Harry Toffolo and Taiwo Awoniyi come in for Willy Boly and Serge Aurier. It's a first start for Awoniyi since the 1-1 draw with Brentford on 1 October after a groin problem.

Nottingham Forest XI: Vlachodimos, Aina, Murillo, Toffolo, Niakhate, Dominguez, Mangala, Sangare, Gibbs-White, Elanga, Awoniyi.

Subs: Turner, Tavares, Boly, Williams, Danilo, Kouyate, Santos, Yates.

Unai Emery names the same 11 that began Aston Villa's 3-1 win over Luton on 29 October.

Spanish full-back Alex Moreno is among the substitutes having not featured at all this season because of a hamstring injury.

Aston Villa XI: Martinez, Digne, Torres, Konsa, Cash, Zaniolo, Luiz, Kamara, McGinn, Watkins, Diaby.

Subs: Olsen, Carlos, Moreno, Chambers, Lenglet, Tielemans, Bailey, Dendoncker, Traore.

The results Unai Emery has achieved are absolutely off the charts.

I think he’s come back, after leaving the Premier League, and he feels like he has something to prove. He’s probably been left to do everything he wants around the place and maybe that’s what he demanded.

I heard an interview with some of his players saying the level of detail he is giving them is absolutely incredible. We are seeing it with De Zerbi, Guardiola, Klopp and Arteta. It is no surprise when you have a really experienced coach - who will not be fazed by any situation - that he has driven them massively forward.

  4. 'Top four for Villa not looking a bad shout'published at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2023

Whenever Nottingham Forest are at home they are difficult to beat, but I don't think Aston Villa are finding it difficult against anyone at the moment.

Unai Emery's side are playing with such confidence as well as being so well set-up. They score a lot of goals, and it is going to be hard for Forest to stop them.

I remember that Stephen Warnock backed Villa to make the top four at the start of the season and in all honesty I was thinking that was a stretch, but it isn't looking such a bad shout now.

Forest have gone six games without a win, although they have drawn four of them.

That's seen them slip down the table but I don't see them getting dragged into the relegation battle. Compared to the teams below them, they have got more than enough to stay up.

    Sutton's prediction: 0-2

Nottm Forest v Aston Villa (14:00 GMT)

We'll get the team news at 13:00 GMT, but here is what we do know at the moment.

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi made his comeback from a niggling groin strain as a substitute last weekend but his availability is uncertain.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Felipe, Divock Origi, Danilo, Chris Wood and Gonzalo Montiel again miss out through injury.

Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno has resumed training following a long-term hamstring problem and could come into the matchday squad.

Jhon Duran is doubtful because of an infected toe.

Jacob Ramsey, Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia remain sidelined.

  6. Sunday's schedulepublished at 12:48 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2023

    Good afternoon.

After a busy Saturday in the Premier League, Sunday is a quieter affair with just two games on the schedule.

First up, Nottingham Forest host Aston Villa at 14:00 GMT, before Luton entertain Liverpool at 16:30.

Just how good have Aston Villa fans got it right now?

When Unai Emery took over last year, Villa were facing the prospect of a relegation battle but now their supporters are dreaming of Champions League qualification.

Emery, so far, also seems to have cracked that often tough balancing act of playing in both the Premier League and in Europe, with Villa flying both domestically and in the Europa Conference League. Plus, they are scoring goals for fun.

Will their fine start continue at Nottingham Forest?
