Luis Diaz is available from the bench to be selected. He is a very good player who could spark something for Liverpool.

Liverpool straight on the attack as Mohamed Salah feeds Darwin Nunez down the right but his cross hits, I think, the bottom of the roof above the stand.

Alexis MacAllister is the weakest link in the Liverpool midfield. Lost count regarding the amount of times he has lost the ball. Definitely struggling with his price tag still.

If ever I needed a player who would be responsible for me pulling my hair out (if I had any) it would be Darwin Nunez. He can be brilliant one minute and infuriating the next. He'll no doubt score a worldie after missing several easier chances today

@Cecil - we look out of our depth because we are out of our depth. A player Liverpool deemed was a “bargain” cost more than we’ve spent in our history. But less of the “horribly” please - we’ve got to the Premier League in ways other teams could only dream of, and without the billions the likes of Liverpool can spend.

    HT: Luton 0-0 Liverpool

Luton Town have failed to score a first-half goal in 10 of their 11 games, more often than any other team in the Premier League this season.

    HT: Luton 0-0 Liverpool

Darwin Nunez registered six shots in the first half, which is already more than he has managed in any single match in the Premier League this season.

  13. Liverpool not on songpublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2023

Liverpool obviously haven't been that on song in front of goal. They need to certainly fine-tune that element of their game.

Be a bit quicker in transition, getting the ball forward, trying to get in behind, don't allow Luton time to get back in defence.

A really strong couple of banks of defensive lines.

Chiedozie Ogbene is just such a handful every time he's got that ball.

Liverpool are having to double up on him. That time Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai both try and deal with him - they can't.

His pace is just so electric.

  15. 'I learn when we win and when we lose'published at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2023

FT: Nottm Forest 2-0 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery, speaking to BBC Sport: "We always take it as a challenge to play away because at home they [Nottingham Forest] feel strong. To come back in the match and get a result was very difficult.

"We started the match very poor but we reacted well, we had chances and opportunities to score. In the second half we started really badly and at 2-0 it is difficult to come back.

"The players fought until the last minute to try and score but we didn't do it. Of course it is hard to lose but we have to accept it.

"We have to understand every match for us is very important. We have to be strong to keep our defensive ability and to try to get the points by being together. We made two mistakes early in each half and it is difficult to come back.

"We won 11 matches in a row at home and that is fantastic. Away it is a challenge. Today I learned again. We are calm and relaxed, we have to be stronger defensively away and try to work hard if we want to get to be one of the top seven teams in the Premier League.

"I learn when we are winning, I learn when we draw and I learn when we are losing as well. Today is one year since I arrived here. We have progressed and done a lot of work and I am proud of the players, but I want more. To increase the level is the next challenge I have."

  16. 'I never felt we would concede today'published at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2023

FT: Nottingham Forest 2-0 Aston Villa

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper speaking to the BBC: "It's a win that we really wanted. We knew it was going to be a really tough game coming up against this really tough Aston Villa side. They have got really good players and manager.

"We have to be really clear on the plan. It's pleasing for us to score two goals in the way we thought we could create chances. We had to be there and convert those chances. A real gratitude to the players in terms of committing to the plan and we scored early in both halves. I never felt we would concede today.

"Aston Villa couldn't carve us open too many times. We could have done better in the first half. It's a dilemma when you win the ball against Aston Villa because it's an opportunity to attack quickly."
