When you look at this midfield setup for Liverpool it does look impressive.

I've watched Dominik Szoboszlai play quite a lot, over the last couple of years in the Bundesliga, I've been a real big fan of him. He obviously had an ACL injury, otherwise I think he would have come to prominence far, far sooner.

Aston Villa's Moussa Diaby, speaking to PLP: "Today was not a good game. We conceded the first goal too early, we tried to come back but then in the second half we conceded another early goal. It is difficult to come back here when you are 2-0 down.

"We have to keep our heads up and continue to work for the next game. Nottingham Forest played well in defence. We are very fast on the counter attack but they defended very well and it was difficult to find the space behind.

"We have to work and find the solutions for the next game. When you play away it is always difficult. Thursday we play at home and we have to get the win to have more confidence for the next Premier League game."

All three clubs that have come up this season have struggled. Sheffield United got the important win against Wolves yesterday Burnley are down there, Bournemouth are struggling as well.

I think that's what must give all of them hope. The fact they're not at this stage entirely cut adrift because Bournemouth are still quite close as well.

It's about not losing confidence [for Thomas Kaminski], not losing faith even when times get really really tough. Sometimes you look at the fixtures ahead of you and you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel you just don't know where you're going to get the next result.

Confidence is always a massive part to play when you do lose games, concede goals. Confidence can dip so you've got to try and stay as positive as possible.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest left-back Harry Toffolo speaking to Sky Sports: "We played games where we should have won before today. To be able to get the three points and clean sheet against a team like Aston Villa is magical.

Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo says team mate Darwin Nunez's "fantastic run" of form is no surprise to the Liverpool squad.

The Uruguay striker came off the bench to score the winner against Bounremouth in their Carabao Cup tie on Wednesday evening, his seventh strike of the season.

"It was an amazing goal,” Gakpo told the club's website. “Lots of quality in the action and it was a good pass from Trent [Alexander-Arnold]. Darwin showed good action to cut inside and it was a fantastic goal."

Already this season, the 24 year-old has showed great improvement in the final third from his first season at Anfield. According to Opta, Nunez is registering 0.93 goals and 0.53 assists per 90 minutes so far this season, compared to 0.56 goals and 0.19 assists per 90 minutes in 2022-23.

I was a bit worried for Liverpool at the start of the season when they lost the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Fabinho - the whole midfield really.

Also the senior characters like Milner and Henderson, they're big powerful characters in that dressing room, really important.

I wasn't sure what I was going to see from Liverpool this season but I've been so impressed with them. The news boys have come in, in the middle of the park and settled really well, looking like top players.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's Ola Aina, speaking to Sky Sports: "Massive win. We were disappointed last week but today we are happy, we fought for each other and got the win.

"My goal was one to remember. I am happy to get off the mark and help the team.

"We can all be proud, we stuck to the game plan, we dug in and fought for each other."

Goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, who made his debut: "It was an amazing atmosphere. It makes everything more easier if you win the game. We keep going."

Liverpool have won a Premier League match at a record 57 different stadiums.

This is their first Premier League visit to Kenilworth Road.

The Reds can become the first club to score a Premier League goal at all 61 different stadiums.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: “It is still pretty emotional but Luis [Diaz] decided three days ago that he wants to try training again.

"I have said before, the training ground, the football pitch is the safe place for the boys. There he can behave normal and for a few minutes at least forget what is going on. But all the signs he gets as I understand it are very positive.

"Negotiations are ongoing but it is still positive so that is why he wanted to be part of the team and he could come on as well. From that point of view I have no issue but nobody can imagine how something like that feels. On the training ground he has been fine and that is why he is here.”

Luis Diaz is on the bench for the Liverpool today, having missed last weekend's win over Nottingham Forest.

Diaz's father has been kidnappped in Colombia.

Aston Villa have lacked the cutting edge which we have seen this season.

That's why they are up there with the most goals scored in the Premier League this season. They will bounce back from today's performance.

Luton apparently don't get spanked at home - that's what Statman Dave tells me anyway.

I am not convinced, because I remember when they played Tottenham at Kenilworth Road at the start of October, and Spurs could have been about 4-0 up in the first 15 minutes.

To be fair to the Hatters, they are making the best fist of life in the top flight out of all the promoted teams, but I don't see them coping with Liverpool's array of attacking talent.
