Robert Page says Wales will not change their approach in the remaining Euro 2024 qualifiers despite losing captain Aaron Ramsey to injury.

Ramsey is an absentee from Page's squad for the visit of Croatia to Cardiff on 15 October.

The Cardiff City midfielder, 32, will also miss Wales' last two qualifiers of the campaign against Armenia and Turkey in November.

"It's a shame and it's a blow, of course it is," said Wales manager Page.

"But there's nothing we can do. We have just got to get on with it and focus on the two games coming up, and especially the game against Croatia in Cardiff."

Wales are also without injured Tottenham forward Brennan Johnson for the Croatia game, as well as the friendly against Gibraltar in Wrexham four days earlier.

Ramsey has been ruled out for between eight and 10 weeks with a knee injury suffered in training with Cardiff.

Bluebirds boss Erol Bulut said the former Arsenal player could face a further three months on the sidelines should he end up requiring surgery.

The absence of 84-cap Ramsey is a heavy blow for Wales, particularly given his impressive form since he rejoined Cardiff in the summer.

"He's playing some of the best football [which] says a lot about coming back home and being settled," Page added.

Wales have shown they aren't scared to put youngsters in, you don't have to be playing week in week out because we are in transition, there are a lot of places up for grabs.

I look at the young lads today and I just want them to play well and forget the occasion of it's their first cap, just play the game as you would a normal game.

Wales manager Rob Page on S4C: "It's a great opportunity for the younger players and to bring it up to Wrexham will hopefully be the start of a perfect night for us.

"We want to reward the players for the performances they've had for the Under-21s and the younger age groups and we want to see where they're at, they've done really well and it's a great night for them and a great occasion.

"With the injuries we've had it's not ideal so it's an opportunity for the younger players and the fringe players. We've had three centre backs pull out and we're carrying one, we're limited with that but Joe Low's impressed and Regan Poole has stepped up.

"We want to build on what we did in September and the confidence is high, albeit with a different XI.

"One of the advantages I have is I can rest some players and give them one game on Sunday while Croatia don't have that luxury.

"It would be mad of me to play some of those players ahead of Sunday."

Ben Davies says he is "incredibly proud" to captain Wales for the rest of their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

The Tottenham defender, 30, is set to lead his country in two matches this month and two in November after injury ruled out regular skipper Aaron Ramsey.

"Aaron's a great player and to be without him is a blow," said Davies.

Gibraltar have played 80 matches in their short history as an independent football nation.

Ben Davies, Wales' captain tonight, has the same amount of international appearances on his own.

With Charlie Savage set to make his Wales debut tonight, Rob Page admits it's been a struggle to get Charlie's dad and his old teammate Robbie Savage off the phone!

Page says Savage Sr has phoned him “numerous times” about his son Charlie before he called him into his latest Wales squad.

Savage was one of six uncapped players named in Page's squad for tonight's friendly.

Tonight's sold out status tells its own story about the appetite for Wales games in north Wales.

The world's oldest international football stadium has only hosted Wales once in the past 15 years.

The ground has seen investment since Wrexham's takeover by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The Racecourse staged Wales' first home game in 1877 but the last visit to Wrexham, a March 2019 friendly against Trinidad and Tobago, was the first time the men's senior team had played at Wrexham's ground for 11 years.

A new 5,500-seater stand on the site of the ground's now demolished 'Kop' is part of an expansion that will take Wrexham's home capacity to around 15,600, although the development is not due to be completed until the start of the 2024-25 season.

It could however mean more regular visits from the national side in years to come.

The FAW was founded in Wrexham in 1876 and the Racecourse hosted every home match until 1890.

The stadium has hosted a record 94 Wales games, but Wrexham's relegation from the English Football League (EFL) in 2008 had an adverse effect on the national team playing there.

However, since their takeover in 2021 co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney have invested heavily both on and off the pitch.

Wrexham have also been introduced to an international audience through FX's successful 'Welcome to Wrexham' documentary series on Disney+.

It's a great opportunity to have games against lower ranked opposition to give young talent a chance because they don't get many opportunities to show what they can do.

• This is the first senior international encounter between Wales and Gibraltar, who have met at youth and semi-pro levels in the past.
• The last time Wales faced a fellow European nation for the first time was back in September 2014 against Andorra in a European Championship qualifier, winning 2-1.
• The only British home nation Gibraltar have faced before was Scotland, playing them twice in 2015 in European Championship qualifiers - they lost 6-1 away from home and 6-0 at home.
• Wales won 2-0 against Latvia last time out in a European Championship qualifier. They have not registered consecutive wins in all competitions since November 2021.
• In all competitions, Gibraltar have lost their past 11 away matches by an aggregate score of 45-3. Their last away win came in Liechtenstein in a Uefa Nations League match in October 2020.
• Wales have drawn their past four friendly matches, most recently with South Korea in September, with three of those four draws ending goalless. The other was a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic in March 2022.
• Of Wales' past 30 goals in all competitions, more than half have come via set-pieces (16), scoring six penalties, five goals from corners, two direct free-kick goals, two goals from throw-ins and one indirect free-kick goal in that time.

Wales are playing at the home of Wrexham for the first time since March 2019 tonight.

Ryan Giggs' side defeated Trinidad and Tobago 1-0 on that occasion courtesy of a last-gasp winner from Ben Woodburn.
