Manchester United defender Gabby George needs surgery after injuring her anterior cruciate knee ligament and is set to miss the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old limped off in the ninth minute of United's Women's Super League draw with Leicester on Sunday.

It is the second time she has ruptured her ACL, having seriously injured her knee for former club Everton in 2020.

"I promise to give my all during recovery to come back stronger," George said on social media on Tuesday.

  2. How do the Champions League qualifiers work?published at 18:37 British Summer Time 18 October 2023

PSG v Man Utd (agg: 1-1, 19:00 BST)

Marc Skinner will be hoping his United side avoid a similar fate to Arsenal, who were knocked out of the first round of qualifying by Paris FC.

Both the first and second rounds of qualifying are split into two groups - the champions path and league path.

United are in the league path, along with PSG and others who finished runners-up of their respective leagues.

The other path contains the champions of leagues outside the highest-ranked associations.

Manchester United aren't the only British side looking to qualify for the Champions League group stages tonight.

It would require a monumental result to overturn for Glasgow City to get past SK Brann, though.

They lost the first leg 4-0 at home and it's currently 0-0 in Norway.

PSG v Man Utd (agg: 1-1, 19:00 BST)

The Champions League will lose one of its potential heavyweights tonight.

Manchester United are in their first Champions League campaign and travel to PSG hoping to reach their first group stage.

They are the only English club who could still join Chelsea in the groups, with Arsenal having gone out in the first qualifying round.

Two-time finalists Paris St-Germain reached the quarter-finals last year before falling to runners-up Wolfsburg.

Tonight's game is being played at Parc des Princes rather than the 20,000-capacity Stade Jean-Bouin where PSG usually play their games.

Let's see how the teams line up for this one.
