  1. 'We are not happy with a point'published at 21:30 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2023

    FT: Brighton 2-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

More from Manchester United manager Marc Skinner, speaking to Sky Sports on Ella Toone's goal: "She has got a lot of criticism that she doesn't deserve. She works hard at what she does. Ella is a quality player. For those that doubt quality players you get found out as they turn up and show you the goods. It's not easy and if you have someone who tries to create against a block, it is hard. Hopefully that is a springboard for her."

On Brighton's performance: "They are at home and in front of the lights. They have got quality players and I think they matches us across the field. Baggers [Sophie Baggaley] is quality in goal but we have given her the chance to be quality."

On Rachel Williams' late leveller: "Look, that is the spirit of our team. We will never give up. She has that quality and Rachel there finds that moment and times it perfectly. She is really important to us. Credit to our players for coming back and we don't want to be in this position to come back."

Is the draw frustrating? "This is a big game and you have to have big character and you have to own when you haven't punished an opponent. They should be frustrated and I want to see that in action. I don't want to see sulky faces, I want to see a reaction against Everton and against West Ham."

    FT: Brighton 2-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Marc Skinner, speaking to Sky Sports: "We are not happy with a point. We need to take three points. You create that amount of chances you have got to take them. We want to be better than that. It's great that you come back but we shouldn't have to come back. Credit to Brighton for the energy, they were good. We created enough to scored five or six and we need to take accountability and be better than that.

"It's always frustrating when you don't defend. We are open because we are trying to play and they come through the heart of us and score. But we are also building relationships. We have had a collective where we have new players and it takes time to build relationships. But we have to come here and win. We create the chance but we want to finish them and that is the responsibility of Manchester United."

  3. 'We're growing belief'published at 21:28 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2023

    FT: Brighton 2-2 Man Utd

    Brighton & Hove Albion

More from Brighton manager Melissa Phillips, speaking to Sky Sports:

On scoring their second goal: "We're growing belief in terms of our performances. We know we have to see out games and halves and this will be another hard lesson for that. It's another point in a really hard stretch of games."

On the amount of added time: "I think there just has to be clarity. It went from seven minutes to seven and a half minutes to 10 minutes. There just has to be clarity in what we're working with so we can make changes at appropriate times as managers."

On whether Brighton showed a lot of promise this evening: "There's still areas where we need to grow in possession and when under pressure. In terms of minimising errors and being more transitional on the counter we did that. A lot to digest and take away from it. A really positive performance and the direction we want to move."

  4. 'Immensely proud'published at 21:26 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2023

    FT: Brighton 2-2 Man Utd

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Melissa Phillips speaking to Sky Sports after the draw with Manchester United: "I'm immensely proud of the group. I think at 1-1 we probably would have taken it. It's a little bit disppointing to concede late when we've gone ahead but set-pieces are important and as good as we've been on that side we need to be a bit better at defending them and we know that. I think in terms of growth and performances there's a lot to build on at the beginning of a really tough block and I'm proud of the group."

On Brighton's resilience: "The shape we played in the first half worked at the start of the game as we really did rattle them and that's how I think we got the goal. We had to weather a storm which is always going to be the case against top teams. We changed our shape and it negated a lot of their opportunities. We can take a lot from the adaptability of the group tonight."

On whether there was a foul in the build-up to Ella Toone's goal: "I do think it's a foul but ultimately that's how the decision goes and, look, the goal is class by Toone."

    FT: Brighton 2-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

More from Manchester United goalscorer Rachel Williams to Sky Sports:

On her role as an experienced player: "I'm a seasoned pro, I'll come in. If we had tired legs I'm probably getting the girls to enjoy it, enjoy training. Ella Toone banged one like that in training yesterday and I said 'keep trying shots like that and they'll come off'. I'm here for the girls, knock on my door and I'll give them the information I can."

On Ella Toone:"It's football at the end of the day and we're doing what we love. I don't take it for granted because tonight you have to pull out goals like Tooney's done."

On working for Marc Skinner:"I've worked with Marc a few times now. I've got great respect for him. He only has to put his trust and belief in me and I'll give all I can. It's a bit of Skinner time now!"

  8. 'We've got to finish our chances'published at 21:15 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2023

    FT: Brighton 2-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United's Rachel Williams on scoring her late equaliser, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's becoming a bit of a habit for me. I'm itching to get off the bench and help the team and tonight it's paid off."

On what she was told when coming on: "You get information, it was to go two up top and get crosses in and get anything on the end of it. It's all a bit of a blur but I've got the goal again."

"Mary [Earps] came running up, she was like 'Rach get on this'. She thinks it was her luminous green that dazzled everyone and the gap was there for me to tap in."

On United's performance: "We've dominated that first half and we have to take our chances. We've got crosses in the box but we've got to finish those chances."

On if she wants more starts: "I keep trying but that door is firmly locked! I think I just have to keep doing what I'm doing in training and hopefully he'll give me the chance. I'm here for the girls every week. The manager, the staff, everyone, they know what they're doing and I fully believe and trust them. We move on to Everton for the next game."

I think Brighton were fantastic in what they tried to do and caused Man United problems.

I thought Man United were always going to push late on but if you are going to be champions these are the games you have to win.

I think they will be ultimately disappointed with it.
