It's still early days of course but the race for a European place looks set to be a classic this season.

He's on the bench today, given a rare rest, but Brighton's Pascal Gross has been involved in 10 goals in his last 18 Premier League appearances (five goals, five assists). In fact, since the start of the 2017-18 season, only Kevin De Bruyne (544) has created more chances in the Premier League than the German (433).

    Underrated?

I just have to laugh when I think about trying to make a prediction here.

I say every week how I have no idea what to expect from Chelsea, and every week I get it wrong. They are so inconsistent, while Brighton are not exactly easy to call at the moment either, because they concede so many goals.

I will be right about Chelsea at some point, though, and this time I am thinking they surely have to respond after they lost so heavily at Newcastle.

Brighton play AEK Athens in Greece on Thursday night and, because of that, I am going to go with Mauricio Pochettino's side to edge a high-scoring game... so stand by for a 0-0 draw that is last on MOTD2.

    Prediction: 3-2

  4. Kudus key for Hammerspublished at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

West Ham v Crystal Palace (14:00 GMT)

Michail Antonio says Mohammed Kudus has cemented his place in West Ham's starting 11 and is now one of the first names on David Moyes' team sheet.

Since arriving from Ajax in August, the 23-year-old has scored eight goals in all competitions.

Antonio told The Footballer's Football Podcast: "The guy is on fire. I heard when we were signing him how good he was.

"People were saying if we get him it will be an unbelievable signing and he should have possibly gone to a team that was higher than us.

"At the beginning of the season he didn’t get much opportunity to play, but now the guy has his shirt solidified. Probably number one on the team sheet.

"The guy is on fire and you can see the quality."

  5. 'This game smells of a draw'published at 13:10 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

West Ham v Crystal Palace (14:00 GMT)

Crystal Palace's defeat at Luton means they have lost four of their past five games but it is not as if they have been playing particularly badly. Their 4-0 defeat at Newcastle was the only one of those defeats where they lost heavily.

West Ham will be hoping Jarrod Bowen is fit, but they have a trip to Serbia in the Europa League to negotiate before they can think about this one.

That definitely helps the Eagles, and this game smells of a draw to me. It's just a case of whether there will be any goals or not.

    Prediction: 1-1

  6. 'I trust him' - Klopp backs Kelleherpublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

    Liverpool v Fulham (14:00 GMT)

Caoimhin Kelleher has a rare start in a Premier League fixture for Liverpool today, and boss Jurgen Klopp has backed his goalkeeper to shine.

"We see him every day in training, he is an exceptional talent," Klopp said of the 25-year-old.

"Maybe we don't mention the name often enough but (goalkeeping coach) John Achterberg said to me from day one when I was in that this will be our homegrown boy who will make it.

"We had discussions in the summer obviously about (moving on), but as long as we don't have a solution we cannot loan players.

"He is homegrown and the first responsibility is to do the best for Liverpool, then we have to see how we can sort it.

"Now obviously for him it is a situation he did not want to have, but obviously because you want opportunities, you want to play, now he will get a few games, definitely. I trust him."

  7. 'Bournemouth will be hard to break down'published at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

Bournemouth v Aston Villa (14:00 GMT)

Aston Villa have been on fire but Bournemouth have hit a good patch too, with three wins in their past four games. That makes this one really difficult to call.

Cherries fans always get ratty if I predict a loss for them so I am going to give them a point here.

Villa's win at Spurs last week was a great result but that was such an open game. Bournemouth will be a lot more stubborn, and it will be harder for Unai Emery's side to break them down.

    Prediction: 1-1

There is also a change in midfield as Ryan Gravenberch comes in for Curtis Jones who drops to the bench.

Liverpool XI: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.

  12. 'Anfield a nightmare for opposition teams'published at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

    Liverpool v Fulham (14:00 GMT)

Anfield is a “nightmare” for opposition teams, says Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds have a 100% record in 10 matches across all competitions on home soil this season, scoring 31 goals and conceding four.

"It is our home, it must, must, must be a difficult place to come," said Klopp, whose side host Fulham on Sunday.

"I said to the boys (before the LASK game), I think for every player, if they are not playing at Liverpool and play in a different country, playing at Anfield is a dream.

"But actually it must be a nightmare and that is what we try to do. It didn't work out all the time but when our people are at it, it makes a massive difference.”

  13. 'I fancy Liverpool to win comfortably'published at 12:54 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2023

    Liverpool v Fulham (14:00 GMT)

Fulham got a good win against Wolves on Monday, helped by a couple of big decisions going their way. They will need some more good fortune to get anything at Anfield, and I really don't see that happening.

Liverpool picked up an important point at Etihad Stadium last weekend but all three are needed here.

The Reds are without goalkeeper Alisson and Diogo Jota but they should be able to cope without them. I fancy Mohamed Salah to score, and Jurgen Klopp's side to win comfortably.

    Prediction: 3-0
