Colin: How on earth are Arsenal not ahead? They are playing some beautiful football BUT you have to put the ball in the net.

That's weak refereeing. This is why they get criticised, they should stand up and own it.

I respect the fact he's booked Arteta for getting in the fourth official's face too because he does it too often.

Re: 14:27 Saka already gets ‘protection’ from referees in their refusal to book him for his relentless diving and play acting trying to get opponents sent off. And I think you’ll find Jude Bellingham is England’s star right now.

    Gary

Re 1434 - yes, referees should protect the most exciting players in the PL. Saka, Maddison, Grealish et al get deliberately fouled far too much without cards for the offenders. We all want to see exciting football - protect the game!

Arsenal fans are getting frustrated as Brighton are taking their time. Why would they? I certainly wouldn't be.

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

The home fans aren't happy at how long Brighton are taking over a goal-kick. It was a ridiculously long time to be fair.

  12. Postpublished at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2023

    Brentford 0-0 Aston Villa

Applause from the Brentford fans as they appreciate some nice build-up play, but it ends disappointingly as Yoane Wissa's backheel inside the area fails to find a team-mate.

  13. 'I can understand why the fans are frustrated'published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2023

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

    Clinton Morrison

That is a yellow card for White but I can understand why the fans are frustrated as Milner's earlier was also a yellow card too and he [the referee] missed that.

Couple more decent Arsenal chances. Gabriel Martinelli speeds down the left and forces a save from Bart Verbruggen at his near post. Kai Havertz's follow-up shot is blocked.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2023

It's always going to be hard to go against Martinelli as he's lively so it's hard for defenders.

Brighton will concede eventually because they're playing out from the back and they've got no one to hit.
