One of the worst halves of football for a while, Liverpool dropping intensity and not caring, no desire. Arsenal playing for a draw, doing nothing in the final third... City's cue to start reeling both awful teams in
Chris, Wrexham
Lots of huffing and puffing but very little quality in the final third from either team. Goalkeepers had little to do. Two teams with a few elements missing to challenge Man City over 38 games.

Villa will be kicking themselves they didn’t win as they would’ve been top at Xmas but top 3 separated by a point sets things up nicely as we approach half way stage in season

Liverpool have won 19 points from losing positions in the Premier League this season, more than any other team.
They have lost just one league game in 2023-24 despite falling behind in 10 (W5 D4 L1 when falling behind).

That triangle in midfield is very strong. They don't mind teams running at them and they are getting more and more experienced.
That is showing with every game that they are learning and growing.

This is how the Premier League top six looks at Christmas.
There's one game on Sunday - Wolves v Chelsea - but that won't impact this part of the Premier League.
We could have a cracking little title race in the second part of the season.

It's interesting there watching Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta embrace there.
Huge respect for the teams. It was two teams going toe-to-toe. The game ebbed and flowed, and I think a draw was the right result.
A fair result?
Liverpool edged possession 51-49, but both sides had 13 shots. Liverpool had three on target to Arsenal's two.

It finishes all-square.
Arsenal will lead the Premier League at Christmas.

Liverpool win a free-kick and interestingly, despite it being in an area wjere it could have gone in the box, they try and build.

At the moment this is a fantastic result for Manchester City.
Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal
There's only been two shots on target in the second half - both for Liverpool.
They have hit the woodwork twice too.

Ever since Liverpool made substitutes, Arsenal have been on top.
They've come on and done OK, but Arsenal have dominated since those substitutes.

Dalot got sent off for two acts of dissent, so why is Salah allowed to keep abusing the ref after being booked and stay on the pitch?

Bukayo Saka tries to curl into the far corner with his left foot but it deflects off Virgil van Dijk's back and out for a corner.
Declan Rice is staying back for it, which gives you an indication of Arsenal's mindset.

Doesn’t matter if Arsenal are top on Christmas Day. They’ll bottle it in March. Run out of steam. It’s Liverpool or Man City for the title.

The Liverpool fans are howling for Bukayo Saka to be sent off. He's already been booked and he does catch Ryan Gravenberch.
He slips though and that makes the tackle a lot, lot more out of control than Saka was going to be.
That's good from the referee.
Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal
We've not had a shot for almost 10 minutes now.
There's an element of caution to both sides now.
