    Man Utd 0-2 Aston Villa

Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes have been Manchester United's best players - although that's not really saying much.

Fernandes' cross squeezes under Rasmus Hojlund's boot but falls to Rashford whose powerful strike is palmed away by Emi Martinez.

Now Man Utd have a wide free-kick. Can Christian Eriksen do a John McGinn?

    Nope, straight into the wall.

That was a chance there for Hojlund.

A lovely run into the channel from Garnacho, superb flick into his path, and he then produces a great square pass for Hojlund.

The striker was just a yard or two slow to get into the middle.

When you think Emery has done all this in 12 months - what has Ten Hag done in 2 years? Plan? Really ?

I honestly think my Sunday league team would've been better organised for defending that goal.

Still Man Utd push. Alejandro Garnacho hits the byeline but his low pass across goal is too far ahead of Rasmus Hojlund.

Better from Manchester United, well, it can't get much worse.

Bruno Fernandes brings down a ball over the top but drags his shot wide.

Moments later Marcus Rashford gets on the ball, cuts on to his right, but his shot is well-saved by Emi Martinez.

    The home fans roar.

Erik ten Hag is in the Manchester United technical area with his hands stuffed in his pockets.

He is not responsible for letting a free-kick bounced straight in at the far post or for his players' failure to mark opponents and stay with them at a corner.

But he has to take responsibility for this team.

The last 10 minutes have been absolutely shambolic.

Aston Villa are 2-0 up at Manchester United and, just as they did when they went 1-0 up against Arsenal, their fans immediately ask if Birmingham City supporters are watching.

The dedication to the bit is unreal.

The ball from John McGinn is just hit into that backpost area, Clement Lenglet, who has no defenders around him at all, heads it back across goal, and it's Leander Dendoncker with a lovely flicked finish.

Where was the marking from Manchester United? Absolutely non-existent.

    Awful defending.

Nobody is marking Clément Lenglet at the back post and he heads John McGinn's corner straight to Leander Dendoncker, who flicks the ball nicely into the roof of the net.

    Villa are in dreamland.

It's all Aston Villa on the ball now, only their fans are singing.

Leon Bailey isolates Diogo Dalot on the right who does well to only concede a corner.

United are so poor man. Villa's goal was just inevitable.

What's the point in Onana at that free-kick? About as useful as I was. And I've got cake and a beer.

Onana looked like a toddler falling on his bum for that goal.

Aston Villa have a record of W9, D0, L0 when scoring the opening goal in the Premier League this season.

Manchester United players are complaining but I don't know why. The goal looked good to me.

I don't think there is a touch from Watkins as he runs across there, because he would be celebrating.

I think the ball goes straight in from the McGinn free kick.

    John McGinn (22 mins)

John McGinn crosses the ball into the box....and it goes all the way in at the back post!

The Manchester United players want offside but they won't get it. Ollie Watkins, who's closest to the cross, doesn't touch the ball, it's definitely McGinn's goal.

VAR check it, but quickly upholds the goal.

I've got to say that I am happy to see Marcus Rashford making the run in behind there. But, what is not a good sign at all is the way he threw his arms up in the air after not receiving the ball.

One of his teammates might have a word with him for that, that is one thing you do not do.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery was literally bouncing across the touchline just now as he encouraged his players to get in position as Manchester United launched an attack.

Emery is one of those managers who is visually involved in the game and is always pointing out where someone should go.

Given his work at Villa, Premier League audiences are now assessing Emery in a far different light to his ill-fated stint at Arsenal.
