    Reporting for 5 Live Sport

A lovely moment from the home side who bring on Tom Cannon to a big reception.

The ex-Everton man did brilliantly on loan at Preston North End last season but was signed by Enzo Maresca despite a stress fracture in his back.

And just a further food update, I have now finished the soup but my word, I’ve got a chocolate orange cake here and it is unbelievable. A flavour sensation.

The best I’ve had - and my wife made me a choccy orange cake on my birthday. Don’t tell her that!

    Jerry Yates (73 mins)

    Swansea celebrateImage source, Getty Images

Swansea retake the lead and it's Jerry Yates who is the apex predator for the men in white [or navy as their away kit has it today].

Yates reacts first after a Josh Key pass found its way to him, burying it beyond Viktor Johansson.

Doncaster-born Yates, formerly of this parish, enjoyed it. A lot.

  3. goal

GOAL: QPR 2-0 Hullpublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Ilias Chair (73 mins)

Hull were piling on the pressure, but Asmir Begovic keeps them out again and again.

He then triggers a counter through substitute Sinclair Armstrong, onto Chris Willock into the box for the Rs' forward Ilias Chair, who had four assists before today opening his goalscoring account for the Hoops this season.

Plenty to play for as this game winds down and it's still goalless.

Norwich try to nab a late winner as Gabriel Sara finds substitute Liam Gibbs in the Preston box but he turns his effort wide of the mark.

  6. CLOSE!published at 16:33 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    QPR 1-0 Hull

Hull knock on the door again, Asmir Begovic saves again...

This time though it is not Liam Delap with the shot!

Substitute Regan Slater drives a cross into Scott Twine, who cannot beat the Bosnian stopper.

  7. Postpublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Watford 0-1 Southampton

Yaser Asprilla's final bit of action for Watford before he's subbed off sees him tee up Edo Kayembe in front of goal.

However, Kayembe's effort is deflected wide by Southampton.

  8. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 0-2 Ipswichpublished at 16:28 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Omari Hutchinson (67 mins)

    Ipswich celebrateImage source, PA Media

Lovely breakaway goal by Ipswich, who deliver a second to give themselves a welcome buffer.

Conor Chaplin puts Omari Hutchinson away, and he slips the ball coolly beyond Seny Dieng for the Tractor Boys' second.

This is Lamborghini stuff rather than John Deere from the Blues.

  9. goal

GOAL: Rotherham 1-1 Swanseapublished at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Sam Nombe (64 mins)

What an unlikely leveller for Rotherham, but it's a crucial goal all the same.

Sam Nombe got the key touch, converting after Sean Morrison's heave of a throw after Hakeem Odoffin managed to knock it into the mix.

    Swansea will be kicking themselves.

  10. CLOSE!published at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    QPR 1-0 Hull

It feels like only two men are involved in the battle between the Hoops and Hull City...

Rory Delap's son Liam Delap again shooting, again his dad's former Stoke team-mate, now Rs keeper Asmir Begovic saves. This probably the best of the three.

Both sides have had three shots on target, but QPR have 12 total shots to Hull's nine thus far.

  11. 'Not a great penalty'published at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Stoke 0-0 Sheff Wed

    Ian Cranson
Fomer Stoke defender on BBC Radio Stoke

That's not a great penalty, it's a yard and a half inside the post. The keeper guessed the right way and made the save.

Ryan Mmaee fancied himself to take it, but when you're doing two or three-yard run-ups it's important you get a good strike on the ball, he didn't.

  12. Postpublished at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Norwich 0-0 Preston

Ali McCann sends a cross into the Norwich box which evades Canaries keeper Angus Gunn.

It falls to Ben Whiteman who shoots from the edge of the box and hits the bar.

An inch or two lower and that would be Preston off the mark.

  13. GREAT PENALTY SAVE!published at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Stoke 0-0 Sheff Wed

Cameron Dawson stands firm and saves from Stoke's Ryan Mmaee!

Barry Bannan hacks the ball away and out for Sheffield Wednesday and it's still all square.

This game is jinxed. We can't even get a goal from the spot!

  14. Postpublished at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Leicester 4-0 Plymouth

    Sanny Rudravajhala
    Reporting for 5 Live Sport

I’m still chowing down my press box onion soup but Leicester haven’t waited for the last of the poshos to take their pews.

Three quick-fire goals have completely demolished Plymouth, who’d done so, so well for that first 45.

Steven Schumacher has rang the changes all of a sudden it’s damage limitation for Plymouth.

The volume has gone up significantly at the King Power. Give me a moment to finish my scran though boys.

  15. PENALTY TO STOKEpublished at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Stoke 0-0 Sheff Wed

Cameron Dawson gathers a Stoke cross, but there was a push by Akin Famewo in the build-up, and it's a Stoke penalty.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Ipswich

Sam Morsy's return to the Riverside with Ipswich just took a painful turn as he's crunched by Middlesbrough's Matt Crooks.

Booking for Crooks. Egypt international Morsy loves a tackle himself.

  17. Postpublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Stoke 0-0 Sheff Wed

    Ben Croucher
    BBC Final Score

Loudest cheer of the day is an ironic one as Stoke's Josh Laurent actually has a collector's item in this game. A shot on goal.

Didn't force Cameron Dawson in the Sheffield Wednesday goal to work, mind you.

Was followed by a loud groan when a free-kick not long after was kicked straight out of play from a good position. As if I'd asked my virtual assistant to sum up this game.

  18. goal

GOAL: Watford 0-1 Southamptonpublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Che Adams (56 mins)

    Southampton celebrateImage source, PA Media

Southampton are off the mark against Watford!

Adam Armstrong heads down into the path of Che Adams who makes no mistake from close range to give Saints the lead.

Will the visitors go 12 games unbeaten today?

  19. Postpublished at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Stoke 0-0 Sheff Wed

Stoke midfielder Josh Laurent find a yard and sends a skittering low drive which passes Cameron Dawson's upright without incident.

    Wednesday still all square.

    Wilfried Ndidi (55 mins)

    Leicester scoreImage source, Rex Features

The league leaders are absolutely flying against Plymouth.

Wilfried Ndidi is the latest to get on the scoresheet for Leicester, this time as he fires in off the post from close range.

    Merciless from Leicester.
