Wow. What a start to the second half.

I think the keeper will be disappointed that it goes under him.

It will be interesting to see how Ipswich respond to this.

    Jonathan Rowe

    Amazing!

From absolutely nothing and the calmest start to the second half imaginable, Norwich lead for the first time.

The chance comes from a long throw into the box, which is knocked down for Jonathan Rowe to hit first time.

The effort takes a slight deflection as it squeezes under goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky.

The two sides are just working their way back into the derby mood, maybe.

Neither boss has made a change at half-time.

Let's just hope we will be treated to more of the same thrills from the first half.

    HT: Ipswich 1-1 Norwich

There are 45 minutes still to come in this derby, but as it stands a draw is not enough to take Ipswich top of the table.

If it ends all square, they will go equal on points with Leicester City at the summit.

    HT: Ipswich 1-1 Norwich

Norwich have done well to get themselves back level at the break.

Can they keep it up and maintain their remarkable unbeaten run in this derby?

The Canaries have not been beaten by Ipswich in 12 meetings, dating back to 2009!

    Mick Mills

A top class first 45 minutes.

Sam Morsy has been outstanding, Nathan Broadhead is back to his old threatening self, and George Hirst has been an old soldier at front.

I can't fault Ipswich, I think they could have had three goals now, Norwich are lucky to have one.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:23 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

The first 45 hectic minutes at Portman Road ends all square.

Nathan Broadhead gave hosts Ipswich a deserved lead, but Jonathan Rowe's 10th goal of the season has Norwich back level.

Ipswich have themselves a late corner now.

Can they produce another big moment from this set-piece?

  13. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Ipswich 1-1 Norwich

Nathan Broadhead is wide eyed as he tries to connect with a volley as the ball is played into him in the box.

The ball was coming in over his shoulder, and in the end he connected with nothing but the fresh Suffolk air at Portman Road.

That equaliser from Jonathan Rowe was Norwich's first attempt on goal! And that takes his season tally to 10. Clinical stuff.

    Ipswich 1-1 Norwich

    Mick Mills
Former Ipswich and England captain on BBC Radio Suffolk

Ipswich are a little bit unfortunate.

The second ball that came in could have been anybody's and it fell to a Norwich City player.

It was a good finish but he is a bit lucky he got the chance to finish.

Ipswich just have to go again.

After Jonathan Rowe goes for the spectacular, with an attempted overhead kick, he manages to pick himself up before anyone can react after the effort is blocked.

Like a flash, he gathers himself and sends the ball beyond a stunned Vaclav Hladky.

Norwich are level just six minutes after going behind!

  18. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Ipswich 0-0 Norwich

We have a push and shove session going on now that needs referee Josh Smith to get in the middle of.

First Borja Sainz gets tangled up with Ipswich's Luke Woolfenden, then Harry Clarke gets involved.

No cards are produced, but that has added to the atmosphere now.

  19. 'Terrific goal'published at 13:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    Ipswich 1-0 Norwich

    Mick Mills
Former Ipswich and England captain on BBC Radio Suffolk

    Wonderful, terrific goal.

It looked as if the referee was going to the linesman, but I couldn't see over the fans as they had decided it was a goal. It is a goal.

That was a marvellous response from the first bit off pressure Norwich had offered Ipswich.

    Nathan Broadhead

Deadlock broken, and it's Nathan Broadhead who finally hits the mark after squandering a few chances.

The initial corner into the area is headed to the edge of the box, where Massimo Luongo heads it back into the danger area where Broadhead is lurking to finish.
