  10. 'Celtic will take some catching'published at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2023

Celtic haven't lost to Aberdeen since May 2018 and the way the Dons set up and approached this one, that stat was never likely to change this afternoon.

Celtic were simply streets ahead; given time and space to play, their creative stars like Yang, Palma and O'Riley had a field day. Two goals up after 15 minutes, it could easily have been four. By half-time, the fact the home side hadn't added to their lead was only due to some sloppy finishing and some really good goalkeeping by Kelle Roos.

It was as if the home side knew Aberdeen couldn't and wouldn't really threaten them after that, as much of the energy of the game ebbed away for a while, especially after Kyogo's horrible head knock meant the Japanese star had to be helped off the pitch.

Still, Celtic managed four more goals in a late second-half blitz as the visitors fell apart completely. Luis Palma got a goal and a couple of terrific assists and is developing into a fine signing.

Brendan Rodgers' side has only dropped four points so far in an impressive start to the defence of their title as we head into the final international break of the year. They'll take some catching, even by a much improved Rangers.

Aberdeen continue to blow hot and cold. Here, they were pretty much freezing as they failed to land a glove on Celtic.

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

I just don't understand why you want to sit back and allow Celtic so much of the ball. Aberdeen's first half, I don't think that is acceptable. They were very fortunate to be just 2-0 down at the interval. They gave Celtic no challenge whatsoever.

  12. 'Celtic wingers exceptional'published at 16:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2023
