    Arsenal 1-0 West Ham

West Ham have responded admirably to falling behind.

Their second good chance in quick succession falls to Viviane Asseyi, who charges in front of her marker to reach Lisa Evans' cross from the right and glances an expert header against the base of the far post.

The visitors are unlucky not to be level!

Lauren James nearly has another – but she won't get the credit for this one.

It happens in similar fashion foras she bursts down the left-hand side and charges towards the Leicester goal.

James ends up at a tighter angle this time and curls home, though her effort took a wicked deflection off Courtney Nevin and it goes down as an own goal.

We're getting started in the 14:00 GMT kick-offs.

There's a minute's silence before Chelsea's game against Leicester at Kingsmeadow to remember former England manager Terry Venables, who passed away at the age of 80 after a long illness.

Venables played more than 200 games for Chelsea in the 1960s.

  12. 'We can compete with the top four'published at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2023

    Liverpool v Brighton (14:00 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton have had a tough run of fixtures with Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City all coming in their last four games, but they've come out of that run on the other side.

Manager Melissa Phillips was very satisfied to come out of that nightmare sequence with four points - including a smash-and-grab win at City - but warned there can be no let-off for a comparatively kinder looking run of fixtures before Christmas.

Brighton visit Liverpool on Sunday, before matches against Leicester and Aston Villa before the winter break.

"We have shown we can compete with all of them [the top four]," Phillips said. "Four points from four games is a lot to be proud of.

"I don't think there is a mentality change now, we do not underestimate Liverpool in the slightest. The mentality of the group has always been resilient, the mindset is wanting to be difficult to play against and break down. We always set up to do that, regardless of opposition."

  14. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 63 mins

    Bristol City 0-2 Man Utd

Ella Toone slams home an emphatic finish after a bit of pinball but she's flagged offside.

Interesting one as the ball came off a defender last, right into Toone's path.

But she might have been offside from the initial ball in. No VAR in the WSL, remember.

A really good goal, the second one. Ella Toone gets a really good cross in with her left foot and the header is down into the ground making it difficult for Olivia Clark.

Nikita Parris, with the goal-scoring form she is in, has been given another start and has another goal again.

It took a lucky goal for Man United to find their rhythm.

West Ham United are seeking a first WSL win in six matches and an end to their four-game losing run in all competitions at Arsenal this afternoon.

"Their variations and style of play can create a lot of defensive challenges that you have to solve," Hammers boss Rehanne Skinner says of the Gunners. "We have to be prepared for them to play through you but also be prepared for them to go direct.

"Defensive compactness will be important in this game, and we’ve been working on that over the last two days in training. We have to minimise the chances of being disconnected as a team when you’re defending against them.

"We’re looking forward to the test, though. We want to keep improving on our last game, and that’s all we can try and do.

"There have been several spells in games where we’ve performed really well. And essentially, we just need to get over the line with some of the games where we felt like we should have had points."
