    Blackpool 0-0 Shrewsbury

Blackpool had won five on the spin at home before losing their last one against Peterborough.

Neil Critchley's side will want three points from this one as the side relegated from the Championship will want to be in the mix for promotion this season.

But no shots at goal this afternoon for the Tangerines.

Wrexham are being roared on by more than 2,000 away fans but have created no clear openings as yet.

    Quiet start in League Two.

But two early bookings at The New Lawn. Grimsby striker Danny Rose and Dominic Bernard of Forest Green Rovers may have to tread carefully for the remaining 85 minutes plus in this one.

Barrow scored after 20 seconds last week, no such start this week, still 0-0 though they have had the first shot in this one.

  8. 'Shout for Stanley penalty'published at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Dan Jewell

How is that not a penalty?

Defender had both his hands above his head and the referee says no.

Accrington have already had two penalty shouts inside 10 minutes.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Blackpool 0-0 Shrewsbury

Blackpool goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw is called into action and he makes a fine save to keep out Tom Bayliss' low shot.

What a start that would have been for Shrewsbury.

    Davis Keillor-Dunn (4 mins)

The EFL's only remaining unbeaten side hit the front early.

Rhys Oates gallops free down the right and threads a ball into the box.

It's only half-cleared to Davis Keillor-Dunn who takes a touch or two and slams a low finish into the net.

Jack Vale with the game's first effort on target, but it's straight at Stevenage goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond.

It looks like Lincoln are going to try to get it down and play, Stevenage are going to be more direct.

Will Gillingham be able to celebrate a first League Two win for new Head Coach Stephen Clemence today?

These two clubs have only ever met on two occasions, both of those in League Two last season where the away side triumphed on both occassions.

Another FA Cup replay thriller (4-4) saw Salford lose on penalties to League One Peterborough on Tuesday night. North West Football Awards League Two Player of the Year Elliot Watt hit the post with his penalty, but has been in stellar form, not missing a league game since his appendix injury in September.

New Gills Head Coach, Stephen Clemence, takes charge of his first home league game, and he will be aiming to pick up his first three points after last weekend’s loss at Wrexham.

Gillingham have not played since as they were one of a handful of League Two sides in action today who won outright in the FA Cup first round (at Hereford), thus not requiring a replay this week.

Having put seven past Slough in the FA Cup at Blundell Park on Tuesday, Grimsby return to League Two action against a Forest Green Rovers side four points behind, but with a game in hand.

The Mariners have enjoyed a three-match unbeaten run with 11 goals scored under the interim charge of Ben Davies and Shaun Pearson.

Losing at Tranmere last Saturday saw the Northern Rovers leapfrog the Southern Rovers in the penultimate position in the fourth tier.

FGR joined their opponents in the FA Cup second round after also winning their Tuesday night replay. Although both sides scored five or more goals in midweek, they both also conceded two to lower league opposition.

Will relegation nerves make today more cagey or as free-flowing as both were in the week?

The only EFL match for Londoners to watch in the capital today at Gander Green Lane

This feels like a match for clichés. Tranmere manager Nigel Adkins oversaw plenty of tough Premier League relegation scraps with Southampton and Reading, now he's doing similar in League Two.

The Rovers boss' pre-match quotes stated: "We’re at a stage at the moment where our focus is just on the next game." But their fans know they need to beat bottom side Sutton today.

Sutton remarkably host the only EFL match in London today, hoping this will see a bumper crowd at Gander Green Lane this afternoon.

Bottom, but just two points behind their Merseyside visitors, Sutton did put four past Walsall last month, and Tranmere lost a seven-goal thriller at Stevenage in the FA Cup two weeks back, so don't expect a boring stalemate...

Jake Young has 12 goals for Swindon this campaign-more than Harrogate's two topscorers added together

This match sees the league's second lowest goalscorers host the league's second highest scorers.

Swindon have three men with more domestic goals this season than Harrogate's two joint top-scorers on a mere five, but despite Swindon scoring 20 more league goals than their opponents, there is still just one point between these two mid-table sides.

Both matches between these sides last campaign saw the home side win 3-0.

Swindon have lost their last five matches - four in League Two and worse still, one in the FA Cup - to National League Aldershot, 7-4 at home.

Of the 92 Premier League and EFL clubs, only one remains unbeaten in league football this season - Mansfield Town.

Their record of eight wins and eight draws has them third in League Two and doing very nicely indeed.

The Stags will want to continue that this afternoon at home to struggling Newport County, but manager Nigel Clough won't be getting carried away.

This week, Clough Jr mentioned that he thought goal celebrations were going 'over the top', so don't expect any choreographed moves from Mansfield players hitting the back of the net!

    Accrington v Wrexham (15:00 GMT)

League Two's Hollywood club, Wrexham, are heading to East Lancashire this afternoon, with more than 2,000 fans following them.

But the club have not been too impressed by Accrington's decision to up their prices by £5 for today's match from previous league games this season at Wham Stadium.

In response, the North Wales club are going to reduce tickets by £5 for the return fixture between the sides in March.

Wrexham's presence in League Two, just as it did in the National League, brings attention and envy in equal measure and this will only fuel that.

They have been involved in plenty of thrilling games already this season, perhaps this added spice will give us another one.

  20. Can Etherington's Colchester halt Hatters' winning run?published at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2023

    Stockport v Colchester (15:00 GMT)

As autumn heads into winter, we have become used to a team from (Greater) Manchester winning and winning and winning at this time of year.

This season, it's Stockport County who have got into that habit with a club-record 11 straight League Two successes.

It has them five points clear at the top and looking a good bet to make up for last season's fourth-place finish and play-off final defeat and seen Dave Challinor named manager of the month for September and October.

Next in their way are Colchester with ex-West Ham and Stoke Matt Etherington in charge for the first time since being named as permanent boss.

Etherington took 10 points from four games in interim charge, but ending Stockport's winning run would be the ideal way to win over any doubters.
