Ultimately England just need to focus on performances.

If every game they play is like that second half they produced against the Netherlands there is no doubt in my mind that they can easily get to a European Championship final, another World Cup final, and if they do qualify for the Olympics, do something there too.

But they need to just focus on the processes that make a good performance, and hopefully, that gets a result in Scotland.

If anyone trotting up to Hampden still had a wee doubt in their mind that Scotland wouldn't go all guns blazing tonight, that thought would soon evaporate when they stepped inside the ground.

This is a biggie, and everyone knows it. There is a proper buzz. It's a wee while since the feeling has been so strong for a SWNT game.

Around these parts it's usually 'no Scotland, no party'. It's very much 'Scotland wanna spoil the party' tonight.

Martinez Losa's gone for plenty of experience.

It's a big night and we already know England are looking for goals, there's a lot at stake for them, and they are a great footballing side.

It's a big game for the Scotland players and it does help to have experience on the pitch.

England fan Luke Cox says he’s looking forward to watching the Lionesses play at Hampden Park.

"It’s not entirely in our hands, we’ve just got to go out there and do the best that we can," he told BBC Newsbeat.

The 26-year-old says he was relieved when England turned it round to beat the Netherlands last week, but admits it’s not easy to keep up with the permutations.

"I was so confused with the head to head and goal difference and how it was going to work with who finished top, but we worked it out in the end," he says.

Anyone still recovering from Wembley on Friday? Wouldn't blame you, it was a wild one.

England were two down after 35 minutes when Lineth Beerensteyn punished cheap defending and netted a double.

But England responded through Georgia Stanway and Lauren Hemp, who netted within two minutes of each other, before Ella Toone fired in a dramatic late goal.

If you can manage it, relive the drama by bashing that big play button below.

Already relegated to League B of the Nations League, it's simply pride and bragging rights on the line for Scotland.

For England, there's a lot riding on their shoulders.

There's a decent crowd expected inside Hampden so let's hope for a cracker.

And Sarina Wiegman has disregarded the idea that Scotland will make it easy for the Lionesses to win at Hampden Park.

The England boss highlighted the long-standing rivalry between the two nations as the key reason why both teams will be going all out to win the game.

"It's going to be a good game where everyone wants to perform at their highest level. In football everyone wants to win," she added.

Scotland captain Rachel Corsie echoed Lucy Bronze's views, saying it is "disrespectful" and "outrageous" to question the integrity of her side.

"A lot of people outside have spoken about it and truthfully I think it is so disrespectful," said Corsie.

"To have played for my country for as many years as I have, to know the girls that sit in there, the ones that want to be here, the ones who can't be here through injury, I think it is absolutely outrageous to question anyone's integrity and I think it is a huge insult to us.

"I understand why the question is being asked but, for us, the motivation is playing for your country.

"It's difficult to understand if you've never experienced it but when you have experienced it, you don't need extra motivation. It is absolutely the pinnacle of the sport to represent your nation so that will absolutely be the motivation tomorrow, to be pulling on the Scotland jersey."

Lucy Bronze shares her thoughts before England face Scotland

England defender Lucy Bronze has dismissed suggestions that Scotland will want to lose their Nations League clash with England to allow Team GB to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.

Bronze says that she believes the Scotland players would "arguably be even more motivated not to lose" to their oldest rivals.

England are the nominated nation to qualify on behalf of Team GB for the competition, and need to beat Scotland at Hampden Park on Tuesday to stand any chance of going to Paris next July.

  11. What needs to happen to keep Team GB hopes alive?published at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2023

    Scotland v England (19:45)

    • England must reach the Nations League final - or finish third if France get there - to qualify on behalf of Team GB for the Paris Olympics.
    • They will reach the semi-finals if they beat Scotland and the Netherlands drop points against Belgium.
    • If the Netherlands win, England could still go through if they beat the Scots by a sufficiently large scoreline to take their goal difference above the Dutch.
    • However, a 4-2 win over the Netherlands on Friday could have kept qualification within England's control and would have bettered their head-to-head record with the Dutch, meaning a victory by any margin over Scotland would have been enough.

Clear? Lovely. That means you can keep me right throughout the evening.

  12. Postpublished at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2023

So why does Amy feel like this is going to be an awkward one?

It's because England must reach the Women's Nations League final, or finish third if France make the final, for Team GB to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.

To progress to the knock-out stage, England must overtake the Netherlands to win Group A1.

Those two are locked on nine points, with the Dutch finishing at home to Belgium. England trail by three in the goal difference column.

    More on the permutations shortly...

Scotland impressed despite defeat by England in their opening Nations League game

It's all going to be a bit awkward at Hampden.

If any Scotland players have hopes of featuring at the Paris Olympics next summer, it's likely that they will need to be beaten - potentially beaten heavily, by England.

But if you think a Scotland side who only have pride to play for will lie down to the Auld Enemy for the greater good then think again.

It's been a campaign of sucker-punches and close calls for Pedro Martinez Losa's side, who have one last chance to leave a mark on League A.

They will not want to bow out on a bum note against the reigning European champions.

Any encounter between the nations has that added edge and Scotland will be out for revenge after a 2-1 loss in Sunderland on matchday one.

It is four changes for Scotland following Friday's draw with Belgium.

There's a change in goal as Lee Gibson replaces Sandy MacIver, while Kirsty Hanson, who scored against England in September, comes in for Martha Thomas up top.

The final two changes see Emma Mukandi and Rachel McLauchlan replace Kirsty MacLean and Fiona Brown.

England boss Sarina Wiegman makes two changes to the side that earned that dramatic win over the Netherlands on Friday.

The big news is that Beth Mead is back in the starting line-up for the first time since sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury more than a year ago.

She came off the bench on Friday but gets the nod ahead of Chloe Kelly this evening.

Defender Jess Carter also drops to the bench with Esme Morgan stepping into the backline.
