    Scottish Cup third round

I haven't forgotten about that last cup game...

Incredibly, Buckie Thistle prevailed 5-4 in the shootout at Broxburn Athletic.

The Highlanders were down to nine men at half-time but found late goals at the end of the second half and the end of extra-time to take it to penalties.

The fourth round draw will be live on Sportscene tomorrow evening.

  3. 'We just ran out of time' - Docherty proud of Dundeepublished at 18:00 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Dundee 1-2 Hibernian

Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells BBC Sportsound: "I think our reaction - the spirit of the squad is clear to see. We just ran out of time.

"The way we impacted the game when it went to 2-0, a lot of teams would give that up. Our good play forced the sending off, and then we had the impetus the whole way through.

"The only thing I'm a wee bit disappointed with is we could have been a bit more clinical. In a game like that you have to take your chances. David Marshall had a particularly good game, but I think we deserved at least a point from the game.

"I couldn't have more praise for my players. The punters are lucky that they have a group of players that give everything.

"We dust ourselves down and go to Fir Park. The only way we can do something about the defeat today is go there and get a win."

  4. Livingston in 'genuine relegation battle'published at 17:58 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: St Mirren 1-0 Livingston

Livingston manager David Martindale: tells BBC Sportsound: "I'm not going to say St Mirren didn't deserve the three points because at the end of the day they put the ball in the net and we didn't but it's fine margins.

"We hit the bar in the first half, so did they. I don't think there was anything in the game in terms of chances created. There was not anything major. We need to start finding a way to win. Ultimately it falls to me and I am well aware of that.

"St Mirren are sitting third because they do the basics of the game well. I thought we let ourselves down in doing the fundamentals of the game in the first half. In the second half we didn't cause enough problems in their box.

"I think we are in a genuine relegation battle. From matchday five onwards it has been a wee bit chaotic and, as a group, we are not doing the basics well enough and that is what I am going to have to get right."

  5. 'This has to be a catalyst' - Kettlewellpublished at 17:56 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Celtic 1-1 Motherwell

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Sportsound: "It's a point gained, I'm obviously delighted with it. What you have to be when you come here is together.

"We showed everybody today that we're united. We're moving in the same direction. We understand that results need to be better, but that has to be a foundation for us.

"We have to make this is the catalyst for us for what comes next in the season."

  6. Hibs continue 'upward trajectory' - Montgomerypublished at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Dundee 1-2 Hibernian

Hibs manager Nick Montgomery tells BBC Sportsound: "I thought we could have scored a couple of goals on the counter [at the end]. At 2-1 you need to stand strong, David Marshall was there when we needed him, and I'm really proud of the effort today.

"First half, we were excellent. We created a lot of opportunities. They're a good side, it's not an easy place to come, but we came with a game plan and deserved the win.

"Away from home, you have a man sent off and the crowd lift. We dealt with the majority [of balls in] really well, and I'm really happy with the performance.

"We've probably not got what we deserved in some games, but that's football, you have to earn the right, and I thought we did that. A lot of improvement to make, but we've been on the upward trajectory every week."

  7. 'Bittersweet' result for Saints - Leveinpublished at 17:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Hearts 1-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Craig Levein: "Bittersweet, really. We had some really good passages of play and chances. But when it comes down to it, it's the quality of Liam Boyce who puts the ball in the back of the net.

"But there were a lot of things there I was really pleased with, other than the first 15 minutes when we looked nervous and didn't want to take risks. As a result we didn't play a lot of football.

"But after we settled down and got a few chances we started to grow in confidence. And we were never out the game which was pleasing.

"Hearts were making changes to shore up the 1-0 which tells you how close they thought it was.

"But I'm gutted for the supporters and the boys because I thought we did a lot of things right today."

Crazy drama in the Broxburn Athletic v Buckie Thistle game, which has gone to penalties.

  10. 'Celtic lack strength in depth'published at 17:42 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Celtic 1-1 Motherwell

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Sportsound

There's no question Celtic should have won the game, but they didn't.

They don't have that same strength in depth as they did. They were without Hatate, Maeda and Johnston today.

Oh Hyeon-gyu is the fall back guy when they're looking at something different or Kyogo isn't firing on all cylinders. He's had a lot of chances and he doesn't score enough goals. The difference between him and [Giorgos] Giakoumakis is staring you in the face.

  11. 'Really good' Hearts win - Naismithpublished at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Hearts 1-0 St Johnstone

Hearts manager Steven Naismith: "We could have and should have scored more goals in the game which would have made it easier for us.

But towards the end we manage it well enough. There are things to work , but overall it was really good.

"It's been nearly two years since the club won three consecutive league games which tells you how good a win it is for us.

"Everybody at the club we need to learn and understand that there are going to be times we give the ball away, and also times we try to gain control which might mean a backwards pass.

"But we are trying to get to a destination where we're working hard and learning from mistakes."

Naismith says Craig Gordon and Craig Halkett will be in the matchday squads "in the coming weeks", potentially before Christmas.

  12. 'Goal drought a worry for Livingston'published at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: St Mirren 1-0 Livingston

    Rory Loy
Former Dundee & St Mirren forward on BBC Sportsound

Livingston have got some good players, it's just not happening for them. That's now seven-and-a-half hours without scoring a goal. It rises to nine hours without a goal from open play.

  13. Penalty problems for Celticpublished at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

  14. 'A draw at home always feels like a defeat'published at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Celtic 1-1 Motherwell

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Sportsound: "We're disappointed. We had enough opportunities to win the game, over 80% possession. We didn't create as much as we'd like but the chances we had should have been enough.

"A draw at home always feels like a defeat."

Celtic have now dropped four points at home, having also drawn with St Johnstone.

"They are games I'd expect to win but you need to do it," adds Rodgers. "You need that quality and that bit of finesse in the final third. Sadly, we didn't quite have that today.

"We circulated the ball well and got into good areas. There's no excuse, we had enough of the ball."

  15. Postpublished at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Celtic 1-1 Motherwell

Motherwell drew at Celtic Park at the end of last season as well.

That means they have avoided defeat in successive games at the home of the champions for the first time since 1995.

  16. 'Celtic just didn't create enough'published at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Celtic 1-1 Motherwell

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

Motherwell were well organised and kept going, so you have to had it to them. Celtic just didn't create enough and that's two critical points lost.

  17. 'Motherwell must back this up'published at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Celtic 1-1 Motherwell

    Stephen Craigan
    Former Motherwell captain on Sportsound

This has to be a tipping point for Motherwell. They must back it up against Dundee next week. They'll get pats on the back for this, but they have to look forward.

  19. FULL-TIME Celtic 1-1 Motherwellpublished at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

The league leaders are held at home.

It looked like Celtic would survive an off day when David Turnbull slotted in an 86th-minute penalty - the hosts' second spot-kick of the day.

But Jon Obika had other ideas, steering home a header in the last minute.

Liam Kelly saved the earlier penalty from Luis Palma.

Celtic move nine points clear of Rangers, who now have two games in hand on their Old Firm rivals.

  20. FULL-TIME St Mirren 1-0 Livingstonpublished at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

St Mirren return to winning ways and stay third, two points clear of Hearts.

It wasn't pretty, with Sean Kelly's own goal the difference.

Tom Parkes also put the ball in the back of his own net late in the second half but it was ruled out after a VAR check for offside.

Livingston stay rooted to the bottom after a sixth successive defeat.
