That's the Erin Cuthbert we know and love.

The Chelsea midfielder gracefully dances through the midfield and slips in a great ball to Martha Thomas.

Unfortunately, the striker had strayed offside, but that just shows the quality Scotland do have at their disposal.

Some roar inside Den Dreef when the hosts get forward.

It's far from a slick move, but it ends with a warning shot as Justine Vanhaevermaet blazes over for the Red Flames.

Fun fact, with Scotland in their lilac kit tonight, last time Nic had that kit on, she scored a screamer against Australia…

    Same again tonight?

This one is pretty fraught at the moment.

No real control from either side, which is maybe a good sign for Scotland.

It'd be good to see Erin Cuthbert and Sam Kerr get their awfy talented feet on the ball.

It just shows how important it is to move the ball at pace, it's a 5-4-1 instantly for the Belgians as soon as they lose possession. Every red and black jersey gets behind the ball, except Wullaert.

They make it so difficult. It's up to Scotland tonight to move the ball and use the width of the pitch.

    Can you see that?

Nah, no the saltire. Proud, though. The wee Belgian brass band!

How they got their euphoniums and trombones in I do not know. I can barely sneak in my Fruit Pastilles.

They’re making some racket, though. Decent way to keep warm but I’m sure there are easier ways.

Other sweeties are available, but they’re the goat for the football.

Fiona Brown gets forward and teases in an inviting ball which has the Belgian goalkeeper Nicky Evrard scrambling.

She tips it behind for a corner that the hosts deal with awkwardly. First real bit of pressure from Scotland.

Hanson's exclusion definitely surprised me. I've been really impressed by her performances of late for her club - and particularly for Scotland.

I think she's been the standout player in this campaign so far. Maybe Pedro is looking to utilise her from the bench later on in the game.

Shaky moment as Belgium almost get in behind, with Jenna Clark looking a bit rattled.

Don't think I'm gonna get much sympathy here, given the temperatures you're all telling me you are experiencing back home, but my goodness, it's absolutely freeeezing here.

I've never seen so many Scots in snoods. Some players trotted out onto the pitch looking like the Michelin Man.

As long as they're fired up and raring to go for half seven, that's all that matters.

  15. Kerr's crucial return?published at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

In what will be a welcome sight to Scotland fans, that midfield is starting to look a wee bit more like its usual self.

Still without world-beater Caroline Weir of Real Madrid and Manchester United's hot prospect Emma Watson, the centre of the park looks healthier thanks to a big return.

Sam Kerr, who went from Rangers to Bayern Munich in the summer, comes back in to sit alongside Erin Cuthbert and Lisa Evans.

Fingers crossed she can bring more guile and fight in the engine room.

  16. Pedro positive over Nations League conceptpublished at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

    Belgium v Scotland (19:30)

Although it's not been a happy hunting ground for Scotland thus far, Pedro Martinez Losa has been singing the virtues of the Nations League.

His side have been able to test themselves in competitive games against some of the world's finest players, which will surely yield valuable lessons, if not yet positive results.

The Scotland manager said: "The acceleration of the women's game is forcing us out of our comfort zone, we cannot think that what we have done previously is enough. The game is evolving and we all must push on that journey.

"We knew this was going to be a challenge, but it's been great to have a new competition. You sometimes learn the tough way, having injuries, we've paid a big price losing some players."

There's no Sophie Howard in the starting line-up tonight, but she certainly made her mark against the Belgians in the reverse fixture.

It looked set to be a frustrating night at Hampden Park in September, but the defender's 94th-minute header rescued a relieving point.

Not sure how much she knew about it, mind you. The ball seemed to come off the top of her bun, but any way will do for Scotland.

  18. Den Dreef Dominancepublished at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

    Belgium v Scotland (19:30)

Belgium have enjoyed a positive campaign thus far in League A1 and, worryingly for us Scots, have been mightily impressive on home soil against very strong opposition.

Six points from six were wrapped up in wins over Netherlands and England at Den Dreef - with the latter result being the Red Flames' most recent outing.

A sublime free-kick courtesy of Laura De Neve and a brace from striker Tessa Wullaert - the Belgian's record top scorer with 75 goals in 121 caps - condemned England to a damning defeat on matchday four.

Heading into tonight's tie, we should certainly expect, or at least be wary of, a far greater showing from Ives Serneels' side than we previously witnessed at Hampden Park in September.

  20. Lauder's long waitpublished at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

    Belgium v Scotland (19:30)

It'd be no surprise if Hayley Lauder had thought her international career was over.

Her last cap came all the way back in the distant days of 2019, having hit 100 caps at the World Cup in France.

Despite constantly impressing with title-winning Glasgow City, she simply didn't seem to factor in Pedro Martinez Losa's plans.

But now, after a shock late call to replace the injured Christy Grimshaw, she's in line for a sensational return.

It would be some story if she makes it off the bench.
