  2. 'I'm not here to blame anyone' - McInnespublished at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

FT: Kilmarnock 0-1 Heart of Midlothian

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "I'm disappointed because we put so much into the game. I thought we were the dominant team.

"Hearts score an unusual goal. It's such a poor goal from own point of view.

"They're on a good run at the moment and they've got some good players but I thought it was very harsh on us.

"My team were good and we'll play a lot worse and win games this season. I'm not overly concerned as a manager in terms of our performance.

"I'm not here to put blame on anyone but it's a poor one (goal) to concede. By and large, we still had enough of the game to go and do something about it."

  3. 'We didn't get what we deserved - Dochertypublished at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    FT: Motherwell 3-3 Dundee

Dundee manager Tony Docherty: "Hugely disappointed to lose a game in which we were so dominant and the level of performance was so high.

"I thought we were outstanding and I should be talking about how good my team were. But we don't manage the last 90 seconds of the game properly and we end up dropping two points.

"We were in a similar position away to St Johnstone, so as well as we're doing that's four points we've dropped.

"But I can't be too harsh on my players because I thought the level of performance was outstanding and we really didn't get what we deserved.

"This league is punishing and it's unforgiving and you need to make sure you see out games and get your reward for what you put in to the game."

  4. Character 'doesn't surprise' Kettlewellpublished at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    FT: Motherwell 3-3 Dundee

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell: "It's been a while since we've taken the lead so to score in the first six minutes is a real positive.

"But we take a backwards step and allow Dundee to come on to us and it starts to create problems.

"At half-time there was a lot of disappointment and a lot of doubt because we find ourselves 2-1 down.

"We manage to get ourselves back into the game and being brutally honest it was without finding any rhythm cohesion in our play.

"Bevis Mugabi does really well from a cross into the box and you feel that might be the catalyst.

"Harry Paton's red card gave us a massive task. I feel so many things are conspiring against us, some of which is our own doing.

"Dundee manage to get the third goal, but it doesn't surprise me we show character to come back. Even though there is a lot of doubt and people us with the run we're on.

"But I said to the players the first goal should be massive in the Premiership but it wasn't for us today. It had the opposite effect."

  6. Debate on Dennis booking goes onpublished at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

FT: Kilmarnock 0-1 Heart of Midlothian

"Reckless challenge, referee sticks with original decision, offside offence occurs before challenge" is the not so helpful Scottish FA guidance given on that controversial booking for Will Dennis.

Would the referee have changed his mind if he had a second look at the challenge? Should he have been told to take a second look?

It was a pretty wild hack on Yutaro Oda from the Kilmarnock goalkeeper and does the fact there was an offside change anything?

The Sportsound team are split in their thoughts.

  7. 'Lots of positives from ugly game' - Naismithpublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

FT: Kilmarnock 0-1 Heart of Midlothian

Hearts boss Steven Naismith tells BBC Scotland: "There are a lot of positives from what was an ugly game.

"I'm pleased with the result. We knew the game would be the way it was. It was not a spectacle at all.

"We knew we were going to need to defend at times. The biggest and most pleasing aspect is that we defended really well.

"The longer you're at a club you want to have a system and style that reflects you. That comes over time. Every game and every result you get breeds confident.

"The players work really hard every day to understand what we want them to do.

"It's a full-on month that we need to be ready for but all we're doing is focusing on ourselves. It's just stepping onto the next task. Hopefully, it leads to a successful season."

  8. 'This will feel like a defeat for Dundee'published at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    FT: Motherwell 3-3 Dundee

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Scotland at Fir Park

If you can’t win don’t lose is something you often hear managers saying. For Motherwell, it fits the bill entirely. Somehow they got something and it may prove a vital springboard.

Having thrown away their lead, fallen behind, then battled back only to go down to 10 men and suffer a late sickener was a real blow. To respond is testament to their resilience and character.

Stuart Kettlewell might question just why and how they made such a fine start, only to struggle for long spells though.

Dundee are continuing to impress. Perhaps, they should have sealed the win but their return after promotion has been excellent. This will feel like a defeat though after they impressed for long periods.

Tony Docherty’s side have done superbly on their return to the Premiership. They have real talent in their ranks and on this evidence will be comfortable. That said, given how tight this league can get, the loss of two winnable points will be sore to take.

  9. 'A tale of two goalkeepers'published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

FT: Kilmarnock 0-1 Heart of Midlothian

    Rory Loy
Former Dundee striker on BBC Sportsound

I don't either side played particularly well but Kilmarnock had more than enough chances to take something from the game. Derek McInnes will be bitterly disappointed.

The difference was the two keepers. Zander Clark makes a good save with his feet at the end, which is what Will Dennis should have done.

  10. 'Hearts have room for improvement'published at 17:10 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

FT: Kilmarnock 0-1 Heart of Midlothian

    Michael Stewart
Former Hearts midfielder on BBC Sportsound

Four wins in a row is great, confidence is going to be high. But Hearts will need to perform better for a tough run over Christmas.

With four league wins in a row, Hearts move up to third in the Premiership as they consign Kilmarnock to a rare home loss.

Not a great day for goalkeeper Will Dennis, who scored a howler of an own goal and narrowly avoided a red card.

What a game at Fir Park!

Motherwell took the lead then had to equalise twice in a topsy-turvy contest packed full of goalmouth action.

The home side's winless run stretches to 11 games but a second successive draw won't feel so bad given they were a goal down and a man down going into stoppage time.

Will it cost them? Four minutes added on...

Is that the winner for Dundee?!

It's a brilliant move involving Amadou Bakayoko and it's worked to Zach Robinson, who passes it low beyond Liam Kelly.

    A sickener for 10-man Motherwell.
