    Motherwell 1-0 Dundee

Another Motherwell move forward involves Mika Biereth as he finds Harry Paton on the edge of the box.

The midfielder goes down under the challenge of Malachi Boateng, but referee Iain Snedden reckons he went down too easily.

Dundee are starting to knock it about too.

  2. CLOSE!published at 15:25 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    Kilmarnock 0-1 Hearts

That's a huge opportunity for Kilmarnock to draw level.

Danny Armstrong charges down the right, beats his man and expertly and feeds David Watson, who should find the finish.

The midfielder gets it all wrong and the effort skews just wide.

  3. Postpublished at 15:21 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    Motherwell 1-0 Dundee

Mika Biereth is brilliant to watch. Motherwell launch a counter attack and the goalscorer slips a wonderful pass through for Stephen O'Donnell, whose touch into the box is a tad heavy.

He gets a corner out of it. Which comes to nothing...

    Will Dennis O.G

    Deary me.

A usually formidable home defence at Rugby Park is at sixes and sevens, which allows Lawrence Shankland in behind.

The Hearts striker drives one across the face and Will Dennis can only turn it into his own net.

    Kilmarnock 0-0 Heart of Midlothian

Another chance for Corrie Ndaba, even better than his opportunity a few moments ago.

A second Killie corner played short in succession finds the defender unmarked in the centre of the box, but he just can't steer the ball on target.

It's his first start since October, maybe showing some rust there.

  6. Postpublished at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    Motherwell 1-0 Dundee

Jon Obika has looked lively for Motherwell on his first league start of the season.

The big striker gets a head on the ball as Blair Spittal delivers a free kick.

    Dundee haven't really got going.

  7. 'Contrast in dugout demeanour'published at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    Kilmarnock 0-0 Hearts

Total contrast in the respective dugouts, or technical areas to use modern terminology. With at least 700 games under his managerial belt, home boss Derek McInnes is a picture of calm composure, hands in pockets, surveying the scene.

The younger, less experienced manager, Steven Naismith, has been jumping up and down like a Jack In The Box at times, trying to infuse his side with the energy he clearly has.

  8. Postpublished at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    Kilmarnock 0-0 Heart of Midlothian

The Hearts defence is looking a tad shaky so far.

Danny Armstrong finds joy with a trademark surging run down the right, with his blocked cross meeting Corrie Ndaba before any player in maroon.

The shot is wayward, but it's another warning shot.

  9. 'Start of Stuart Kettlewell's dreams'published at 15:13 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

    Motherwell 1-0 Dundee

    Martin Dowden

This is what Motherwell have been badly missing. An early platform to build on rather than chasing the game looking to get something.

The goal was the result of a really nice piece of interplay with the ball eventually spilling out to Mika Biereth and he produced a strong finish past Trevor Carson.

Motherwell badly need a win and look right in the mood to deliver.

    Kilmarnock 0-0 Heart of Midlothian

David Watson bursts a gut to keep a long ball in play for Kilmarnock when it looked like a lost cause.

The teenager then feeds Liam Donnelly, whose strike is well wide.

Not sure where the Hearts defence had gone there.

    Mika Biereth

What a finish from the young Dane, who is making a big name for himself this season.

Motherwell knock it about nicely, Dundee make a tackle on the edge of the box, but it breaks to Biereth who smashes it in off the near post.

It's his fifth goal of the season on just his ninth appearance.

    Kilmarnock 0-0 Heart of Midlothian

That didn't look good at all for Beni Baningime.

The Hearts midfielder goes down completely unchallenged in the centre circle and it's the Killie players beckoning the medical team on.

After such a long spell on the sidelines, there was a lot of concern, but he's back up and charging around.

    Motherwell 0-0 Dundee

A couple of early chances for Motherwell. A free kick comes in and Bevis Mugabi gets something on it.

Then Dan Casey's shot is blocked. It was a tame effort but good defending from Dundee nonetheless.

  16. Postpublished at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

We should add that Derek McInnes is not convinced this is his 700th match as a manager.

He told BBC Sportscene that his analyst reckons that landmark was reached a while ago...

  18. 'We have to play extremely well' - McInnespublished at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2023

Kilmarnock v Heart of Midlothian (15:00)

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "Especially being at home, it's an opportunity for us.

"We've won the last three at home, but we're going to have to play extremely well.

"We have to limit the balls to Boyce and Shankland. We want to hang around the top six for as long as we can."

    Kilmarnock v Hearts (15:00)

    Kheredine Idessane
    BBC Scotland at Rugby Park

There's a lot at stake here. The home side will go fourth if they win. Hearts will be up to third if they repeat the victory they enjoyed here at Rugby Park on League Cup duty at the end of September.

The Tynecastle club are looking for their fourth win on the bounce in the Premiership for the first time since 2018 against a team they've only beaten twice in the past 10 attempts.

Killie's home form is good, they've won their last three here by an aggregate of 6-1.

Seems like the Hearts fans are in good spirit - they're making all the noise away to my left as we build up to kick off.

    Motherwell v Dundee (15:00)

    Martin Dowden

It'd be easy to overlook the contribution of Motherwell's ground staff and the general investment in the Fir Park surface.

It really is quite incredible given conditions around the country.

When I looked out of my window this morning I have to say I feared the worst.

Round of applause to all concerned.
