As an Arsenal fan, I would have loved to have a striker come in but judging from Arteta's press conference yesterday, there will definitely be no player coming in.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to TNT Sports: "He's [Emile Smith Rowe] playing really good, he deserves it and has been training really well. He's had some consistency now and he is ready to impact the games now."

On playing at the City Ground: "You have to play with a lot of personality and impose yourself in these atmospheres."

The Monday Night Club panel have been discussing reports linking Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta with a move to Barcelona at the end of the season - reports the Spaniard has quickly rebuffed.

"Why on earth would you leave Arsenal for Barcelona at the moment?" New York Times journalist Rory Smith said.

"Barcelona are a complete mess. Arteta's bond with Barcelona is quite ancient. He's not from Catalonia, he was at La Masia for a bit but Real Sociedad is his boyhood team.

"I don't think he has that same bond to Barcelona that Xavi or Iniesta or Sergio Busquets might do. Arteta's link is relatively flimsy, I don't know why he'd leave a well run club in Arsenal who are moving in the right direction."

  5. Forest trio ahead of schedule in returnspublished at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

Nottingham Forest v Arsenal (19:30 GMT)

    Nottingham Forest

Boss Nuno Espirito Santo says he has decided to bring Taiwo Awoniyi, Anthony Elanga and Felipe into team training despite the injured trio still not being "100% ready" to start for Nottingham Forest.

Nuno told BBC Radio Nottingham it was a mutual choice to involve them with the main group.

"It was a decision made by us, the medical department and the players themselves," said Nuno. "We decided to bring them even though they weren't 100% ready.

"We think it's better to have them around in terms of getting in contact with the way we do things in training, in meetings, in the plans. When they are 100%, it will be easier for them to perform. That is the main idea."

Since Christmas, Forest have lost several key players to injury and the Africa Cup of Nations with Nuno accepting the Reds "are short on options".

"Before, four of the under-23s were constantly with us to give us help, but we didn't feel these were the right moments to put the young boys in," he said.

"We think in this situation having four quality players, who we can rely on, is better even though it won't be for too many minutes. This is what we have to manage. They are there in the training sessions, integrating with their team-mates. They know each other and they help each other."

On tonight's game, Nuno added: "Arsenal are one of the best teams around, we know the quality of their players and manager. It will be tough."
