    That's better.

The home side move the ball quickly through the thirds and shift it to Scott Twine on their left.

He drifts inside and looks to curl it into the far corner but it swerves wide.

I'm going to be polite here and say this is a game that needs a goal.

You can hear the reaction from the home fans as soon as Hull's Fabio Carvalho gets the ball.

    They expect something to happen.

    Game is opening up now.

Kenny McLean is booked for taking Scott Twine down as he looks to advance on the Norwich goal.

    Nothing comes from the free-kick.

Hull City debutant Fabio Carvalho has shown his class.

He always wants the ball, that is the one thing you notice about him so far.

His quick feet were too much for Ashley Barnes just there.

    Hull City 0-0 Norwich

This isn't Fabio Carvalho's first time playing in the Championship, he was a major part of the Fulham team that won promotion to the Premier League in 2021-22.

Still, Ashley Barnes has just welcomed the Liverpool loanee back to the second tier by booting him up in the air.

The free-kick is punched away by Canaries keeper Angus Gunn.

Nobody has really put a foothold on the game so far in a Norwich shirt.

The injury to Aaron Connolly has kind of slowed the game down for Hull.

They are getting used to playing with Billy Sharp up front.

    Hull City 0-0 Norwich

That's a decent chance for the away side.

Neat bit of interplay in midfield and Josh Sargent lifts a neat ball behind the defence for the run of Borja Sainz.

I'll do him a favour and say the pitch isn't the best, so the bounce isn't the truest, but he really should do better than just loft his effort way over from 18 yards out.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15 mins

Aaron Connolly is off and Billy Sharp is on.

Sharp has scored a few goals at this level over the years...

I am watching Aaron Connolly and he is watching the ball all of the way.

Angus Gunn wipes him out. But he had to make the challenge.

They both had to go for the ball.

    Ouch.

Hull City striker Aaron Connolly is having a rough night.

He took a heavy knock on his ankle in the opening minutes and now he's come off second-best in an aerial challenge with Norwich keeper Angus Gunn.

Looks like Connolly is going to have to make way.

Aaron Connolly had no right to have a shot there.

I wasn't expecting him to have a go.

It was only four or five yards past the post.

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior extended his contract last month and his side are well-placed to challenge for a play-off spot.

Chairman Acun Ilicali told Sky Sports pre-match that they were hoping to add three more players this month after the loan signing of Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho and short-term deal for veteran goal-getter Billy Sharp.

On the pitch, Tigers striker Aaron Connolly hits a difficult shot wide from 20 yards out.

  14. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Hull City 0-0 Norwich

First corner of the game goes to the home side after Jack Stacey's poor pass is intercepted by Scott Twine, and the Burnley loanee moves forward before seeing his shot deflect behind.

The set-piece is headed away at the near post but Hull are back on the ball.

  15. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Hull City 0-0 Norwich

Tigers striker Aaron Connolly is going to give it a go after getting some treatment.

The home side just look to start getting some passes together after a pretty scrappy opening few minutes to this encounter.

At the start of the season, I don't think Hull were in many people's top six.

If Hull win tonight, they do crack the top six.

Fabio Carvalho coming in from Liverpool - that is a signing that suggests they mean business.

  17. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Hull City 0-0 Norwich

Looks like the home side might be forced into a very early change.

Striker Aaron Connolly went down under a pretty robust challenge from former Brighton team-mate Shane Duffy.

He's now getting some treatment for the second time.

  18. 'No middle ground for Norwich'published at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

    Hull City 0-0 Norwich

    Chris Goreham
    BBC Radio Norfolk commentator

Norwich haven't won any of their last four matches. They have only won one in six.

He is such a streaky manager, is David Wagner. They were brilliant at the start of the season, then they had a really miserable autumn.

They are either on a brilliant run or a really poor run. In football, when there is no middle ground, you end up mid-table.

Unless they can find some kind of consistency, it is pretty much where they are going to stay.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January

After a minute's applause for fans, former players and staff connected to Hull City who died in 2023, we're under way in East Yorkshire.

Can Hull City climb back into the top six or are Norwich going to give their flagging play-off hopes a timely boost?

The festive schedule is behind us and all of the teams in the Championship have 20 games left to play.

Hull City are just outside the play-offs, while Norwich aren't out of it by any means even though they're 13th just now.

If you think the Tigers are going to come away with the win the give this post a thumbs up and if you think it'll be a draw or away win then hit the down thumb.

We're also interested to hear your more considered thoughts on both of these teams or just the second tier in general.
