Hull City boss Liam Rosenior was delighted with the addition of Liverpool winger Fabio Carvalho this week.

The 21-year-old joined on loan until the end of the season on Wednesday and has been given a start this evening.

"There's certain players who understand the game differently in a number 10 position. Allied to his pace, athleticism, his bravery to take the ball and finish actions are the reasons Liverpool signed him," Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside., external

"He's really excited and he's looking forward to the challenge."

The young Portuguese is the second player to join the Tigers this month after veteran striker Billy Sharp.

The 37-year-old once again starts on the bench this evening after making his debut as a sub against Birmingham City on Saturday.

There’s a lot of negative sentiment around Norwich City Football Club right now.

We have seen huge fan unrest at how the club has been run of late; Stuart Webber’s handover and exit as sporting director came across as messy and laboured. The club’s success - or rather lack of - on the pitch of late has led to many wanting a change of head coach.

As a fan and someone who spends a fair amount of disposable income following the club around the country, I too share those feelings. It’s been a tough 12 months under David Wagner and it was a tough 13 months under Dean Smith. But whilst there are many things I’d like to see change behind the scenes and even in the dugout, I do have some cause for optimism about the second half of this Championship season, irrespective of who is in charge.

My main area of optimism comes from players returning from injury. In recent weeks we’ve welcomed back defender Grant Hanley and forward Josh Sargent, both of whom undoubtedly make us a better outfit and whose quality we’ve been lacking in their respective positions.

FA Cup 2024: Bristol Rovers secure third-round replay against Norwich City after 1-1 draw

Both of these teams face a midweek FA Cup replay after draws in their initial ties last weekend.

Hull City had to come back from a goal down to claim a draw at home to struggling Championship side Birmingham, while Norwich face a tricky looking replay at League One Bristol Rovers after tying 1-1 at Carrow Road.

The carrot for the Canaries is an away trip to Premier League leaders Liverpool if they can overcome the Gas, while a trip to Championship table-toppers Leicester awaits the winner of the Blues v Tigers replay.

I think the pressure is on Aaron Connolly.

He knows that if he is not performing, Billy Sharp is on the bench.

Strikers need goals and Sharp has that in abundance.

Connolly will be trying to stay on the pitch for as long as possible.

After the hectic Christmas schedule in the EFL this is the first bit of Championship action since way back on 1 January.

Home side Hull City will move back up into the play-off spots with victory, while 13th-placed Norwich need a positive result to give their own hopes of a top-six finish a shot in the arm.

Twenty minutes until kick off, let's get on with it.
