Leeds United had themselves the perfect January, with four wins from four in the Championship.

Just when it seemed their promotion chase was stuttering with defeats at Preston and West Brom to end 2023, the Whites have got their quest for an immediate Premier League return right back on track.

Victory at Ashton Gate tonight will catapult them up to second and into the automatic promotion spots.

  2. Mid-table Robins look to end winless runpublished at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February

Defeat by Leeds United in October was one of the final nails in the coffin of Nigel Pearson as Bristol City boss.

Two defeats in three games after that saw Pearson sacked, with Liam Manning coming in as his replacement.

The Robins were 15th in the table then, and are just two places better off now as they remain firmly mid-table.

They are on a five-match winless run in the league, but they have dazzled somewhat in the FA Cup.

They knocked Premier League side West Ham out in the third round after forcing the tie to a replay before then taking Nottingham Forest to a replay in the next round.

Here we are... a day after the winter transfer window in England has shut.

Oh, how can one go one without the incessant rumours of who is going where and for how much. (and yeah, yeah I know, that talk NEVER stops)

At least we have a football match to fill that void.

This is not 'when one door closes, a window opens' sort of stuff.

    No, this is much better.

Tonight, Bristol City host a promotion chasing Leeds United that are in sizzling form to start 2024.
