Exactly the return to the side Jaden Philogene and the Tigers faithful will have been looking for!

It's one of Hull's deadline day additions, Anass Zaroury, who creates the goal, however.

The on-loan Burnley winger cuts in from the left and thunders a drive against the Millwall crossbar. The ball drops neatly for Philogene and the net bulges...

  5. goal

Preston take the lead against Ipswich early doors and it comes courtesy of Will Keane.

He strikes from outside the box and finds the net, much to the dismay of Ipswich who could really do with a win today after Leeds' win demoted them to third position in the Championship table.

    Swansea 0-0 Plymouth

Swansea haven't won yet since Luke Williams succeeded Michael Duff at the Liberty Stadium, but they'll be hopeful of changing that given that Plymouth are yet to taste victory on the road.

The Swans' first opportunity falls to Ben Cabango, but the defender gets too much on it and the shot flies over the bar.

    Blackburn 0-0 QPR

Blackburn boss Jon Dahl Tomasson did not take part in his pre-match media commitments before today's visit of QPR, something which was described as a "club decision".

Since the start of December, Rovers have won fewer points than anyone else in the Championship.

They've shipped goals, too, conceding 25 goals during that time and more than any other team in the division.

The hosts will be hoping to avoid conceding early otherwise it'll be a long afternoon.

    Norwich 0-0 Coventry

It's been a fast start at Carrow Road.

Coventry goalkeeper Bradley Collins has been tested by Christian Fassnacht, then Josh Sargent has a follow up effort blocked.

    Norwich 0-0 Coventry

Norwich are again without leading scorer Jonathan Rowe.

What a broken hand costs the Canaries cannot be talked down.

He has scored five of Norwich’s last 10 Championship goals and has 12 league goals this season, which is twice as many as any other Canaries player with Adam Idah - now on loan at Celtic - next best with six.

  12. Extra motivation for Coventry?published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    Final Score

“Coventry isn’t the sexiest or biggest name in the division,” so claimed Norwich boss David Wagner in his pre-match press conference.

Well, the one-time FA Cup winners and last season’s play-off finalists probably have that written on the away dressing room wall today, as Mark Robins takes on his former club.

A win could bring Norwich closer to a play-off place, which Coventry currently occupy. New signing Sydney van Hooijdonk starts on the subs bench - the home fans are hoping it’s a case of like father, like son as the Bologna loanee scored 22 goals in 42 games for his last loan side, Heerenveen.

  13. Hull waiting to pounce in play-off racepublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    Final Score

It's the Tigers against the Lions today in the Championship and the side in stripes are the ones on the prowl for the play-offs.

Simply put, Hull City went for it in the winter window with the arrival of seven fresh faces, including a loan deal for Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho. They've also loaned Burnley forward Anass Zaroury, who ripped the division apart with the Clarets last season.

Millwall meanwhile have stalked the play-offs themselves in the past, but let's face it, they're 19 points off of eighth-placed Hull and so any springtime surge for the top six seems unlikely. Although, they've used January to strengthen by borrowing Japhet Tanganga from Spurs for the rest of the season, while Adam Mayor has signed from League Two Morecambe.

Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca on the pitch after a winImage source, Getty Images

Leicester are flying high and seemingly on their way back to the Premier League, but Foxes boss Enzo Maresca has this week acknowledged that maybe not everyone is loving how they have gone about it so far.

It’s hard to believe, but on the night that the Foxes went 10 points clear at the top of the table with victory against Swansea there were some shouts of criticism from the stands as fans demanded a more forceful approach.

See, Italian boss Maresca is a man with a football philosophy - possession is king. And yeah, at times wins sometimes do look like death by a thousand passes.

But when the Foxes are keeping near record pace at the top of the division, it’s hard to criticise.

When Maresca came out after the win against Swansea to say some fans are taking Leicester’s dominance for granted, you got a real sense he was annoyed by the need to.

In his own understated way, that was him going full Russell Crowe from Gladiator and saying ‘ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!’

In another world, Darren Moore could be in either dugout today. As is the modern footballing way, within 224 days he’s left Hillsborough and Huddersfield.

Club stalwart Jon Worthington’s first job will be to "recapture what makes Huddersfield Town unique", as he put it in his programme notes.

Simply there’s two aims. Pick up points and play more attractive football. Whether the latter can achieve the former remains to be seen.

What might help is Sheffield Wednesday’s woeful away record. No Championship team has lost more on the road this season.

Two teams who could be exiting the Championship come May meet here at the New York Stadium.

Rotherham need to start winning soon or they will be struggling to mount any kind of survival mission. Southampton have seen Leeds play several times since they were last in action and they could return to second in the table with a win here.

The reverse fixture ended 1-1 but anyone who was there will tell you Saints dominated and the Millers escaped from St Mary's with an unlikely point. I don't think Russell Martin's side will be as generous today.

Hull City's Fabio CarvalhoImage source, Rex Features

Hull fans will hope Liam Rosenior’s lengthy January shopping list brings immediate dividends as they target a potential return to the top six against Millwall.

The Tigers recruited seven new faces last month, with one of those – on-loan Liverpool starlet Fabio Carvalho – scoring the only goal at Sunderland last time they were in action a fortnight ago.

It was a quieter January for Millwall, not only in terms of player movement but also results – the Londoners have taken just a single point from their last three fixtures, last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Preston.

Vicarage Road hosts a Championship game for the first time this year as Watford take on Cardiff and, although the Hornets are on a five-match unbeaten run, four of those have been draws.

Cardiff, meanwhile, have won only one of their last five in the league, but that success did come away from home when they beat QPR 2-1 on New Year's Day.

On the subject of QPR, history is against Marti Cifuentes' struggling side as they travel to Ewood Park - a ground where they have lost on their last six visits and failed to win since 1999.

But now looks as good a time as any for Rangers to end that sequence, with Blackburn sliding down the table after picking up just two points from their last seven games.

Just how long does a football manager’s honeymoon period last? It’s a month, give or take, since Swansea and Plymouth handed the reins to Luke Williams and Ian Foster respectively.

Williams is seeking his first Championship win with the Swans, who have dropped to 17th while Foster’s side look in better shape with one defeat in eight games – although they are still without an away victory this season.
