Queen's Park get themselves forward and Ben McPherson tries to get a shot away, but it's deflected behind for a corner.

Jack Turner takes this one short to Dom Thomas, who plays it back to McPherson. He fires the ball into the box, but it bounces out for a Dundee United goal kick.

Midfielder Ben Dempsey fires his first goal of the season.

That's put the cat among the pigeons (or should that be seagulls?) in Kirkcaldy.

Ayr aren't out of the game in Kirkcaldy despite being behind and down to 10 men after Sean McGinty's dismissal just before half time.

And striker Franny Amartey has an effort pushed wide by goalkeeper Kevin Dabrowski.

How did United not find the back of the net there?

The ball eventually falls to Tony Watt, who is yards away from the Queen's Park goal, but he can't manage to get a decent connection.

Glen Middleton is there to take it once again.

He finds the head of Declan Gallagher, who knocks it to the back post, but Queen's Park goalkeeper Callum Ferrie comes out to gather it comfortably.

Glen Middleton makes a bombing run forward, but he can't get his first touch right and Alex Bannon is there to knock behind the United winger's shot for a corner.

The visitors can't make anything of it though.

I think it should have been a penalty.

Matthew Cudjoe has just got on the other side of Jack Thomson.

I do not see anything Cudjoe has done that is wrong. I think he has just got his body in front of Thomson and he catches the back of Cudjoe.

HALF-TIME Raith Rovers 2-1 Ayr United

As it stands, Rovers are going to increase their lead over Dundee United at the top of the Championship to seven points.

They responded to Aiden McGeady's opener within a minute through Sam Stanton before edging in front through Lewis Vaughan just before the break.

Ayr by then were down to 10 men, with Sean McGinty having been sent off two minutes earlier.

Well that wasn't a life-changing half of football...

Dundee United looked the more likely to make something happen but they haven't been able to break down the Queen's Park defence.

Still all to play for in the second 45.

Hands swiftly out the pockets and placed on his head.

Unimpressed...

Matthew Cudjoe goes down inside the Queen's Park box.

He gets in a tangle with Jack Thomson and both players go to ground.

The referee gives the home side the free-kick - potentially another let off for the Spiders.

Louis Longridge has a go up the other end, the ball falls nicely to him on the edge of the box and he has a pop at goal - it's way over the bar though.

Ruari Paton takes what looks like a knock to the eye but after a brief pause he's good to go and things are back underway.

Jordan Tillson tries his luck with a drilled shot towards goalkeeper Callum Ferrie who catches it pretty comfortably.

United are going to have to try harder than that...
