Dundee United's Tony Watt tells BBC Scotland: "Partick Thistle are a good team and before the game I said I need to do it for the manager.

"He puts his faith in me every week and he has been brilliant.

"He is giving us a good game plan and we need to start being consistent.

"He was getting the stick after [the game against] Queen's Park but we all need to take it.

"The game plan is right and we have just not been executing it properly."

  5. 'One bump in the road doesn't put the wheels off' - Doolanpublished at 22:00 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

FT: Dundee United 3-0 Partick Thistle

Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan tells BBC Scotland: "I felt as if for most of the second half we were in command.

"We had a go at them. We took our chance to go after them and it nearly paid off.

"I felt that we were the team on the ascendancy. We had nothing to lose but unfortunately it didn't go our way.

"For the majority of the game, particularly in the second half, we were well in it. We were a lot better on and off the ball. If we were a wee bit more clinical we might have got something.

When asked about the winter transfer window, Doolan added: "The January window is one where you can try and fill the gaps. If the right one comes along then we will do something.

And on their promotion hopes, Doolan said: "I think we have to believe that we can claw it back.

"We know the Championship, things always change between now and the end of the season. We always believe and we will keep at it.

"One bump in the road doesn't put the wheels off. We just get back to training and get our heads down."

  6. 'Delighted to get the goals' - Goodwinpublished at 21:59 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

FT: Dundee United 3-0 Partick Thistle

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "We are really pleased with the overall performance and the results.

"We have struggled to score in the last couple of games and we have been very frustrated with that point but tonight was a decent all round performance.

"There has never been any anxiety or nervousness from our point of view.

"We could sense the supporters' frustration after the game against Queen's Park. We just found it very difficult to break them down.

"We asked for an increase in the intensity and the tempo [this week] whilst keeping that quality.

"I think we started the game really brightly and that set the tone.

"We didn't have enough control or discipline in the second half but I'm delighted for us to get the goals off the back of that."

  7. 'Brilliant feeling'published at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2023

FT: Dundee United 3-0 Partick Thistle

Dundee United's Kai Fotheringham tells BBC Scotland: "It is a brilliant feeling.

"The last few weeks we have not been up to our standards.

"The first 25 minutes of the second half were a bit scrappy but we get the two goals in the second half and a hattrick for Tony [Watt] so I'm delighted for him.

"The last few weeks we have not been up to our standards but hopefully that was just a blip.

"There is always going to be pressure on our backs, the fan base is massive and they will always have their opinions."

What a save from Jamie Sneddon to deny the home side a fourth just before full time.

Craig Sibbald fires an absolute rocket towards the top right corner and Sneddon dives to push it out for a corner.

The Thistle keeper then manages to gather the ball that comes in to the box and the referee blows his whistle.

All in all a pretty comfortable victory for the home side who edge closer to Raith Rovers at the top of the table.

The striker directs his header on target and there was almost nothing Jamie Sneddon could do to keep it out of the back of the net.
