He picks up the loose ball in the middle of the box and takes the shot on his left foot but once again the ball sails over the bar.

I'd have bet my house on that bulging the net...

Louis Moult has just missed a huge chance to double United's lead.

He takes a great first touch to bring the ball down, he pops it onto his left foot and sends the ball goalward but it rockets over the bar.

A change for Partick Thistle now.

Ben Stanway is off and replaced by Blair Alston.

It looks like it may not be too long before Kris Doolan is forced into another, Harry Milne appears to be limping around the pitch at the moment.

Just watching Declan Gallagher trudge round, he's in a fair amount of discomfort.

Jim Goodwin has previously said he wasn't looking at changing his squad too much in January. With a star defender out, he may be on the lookout for a replacement...

That's Declan Gallagher's night over.

After that injury a few minutes ago he's now just sat down on the pitch, looking very disconsolate.

The former Scotland defender is replaced by Ross Graham.

Aidan Fitzpatrick wins Partick Thistle the corner.

He sends it into the box but Louis Moult manages to flick it away.

Dundee United get forward in numbers and the ball into the box from Louis Moult finds the head of Tony Watt but he can't get it on target.

Declan Gallagher is back to his feet and looks like he'll be okay to continue.

He's back on the pitch for the moment anyway.

Dundee United 1-0 Partick Thistle

Declan Gallagher has gone down after an aerial clash with Thistle's Brian Graham.

He's getting some treatment now but it looks to be an issue with his groin. Whatever it is, it doesn't look comfortable for the defender.

Partick Thistle have been getting a little bit more time on the ball in this second half.

Dundee United have certainly come out slower in the first ten minutes or so.

Probably could've had a few more goals, but what a smash that was from birthday boy Tony Watt!

United awfy quick out the traps, Thistle less so, but they've grown.

Fans in the home stands content. Happy may be a stretch as they perhaps should've been celebrating more than once.

Another chance for the home side.

Kai Fortheringham takes the shot on from the right hand side of the box but it fires past the defenders and the far post for a Thistle goal kick.

An early chance for United as Kai Fotheringham fires an early corner into the box.

It drops to Declan Gallagher but he's got two defenders in front of him by the time he attempts the shot.

Glenn Middleton takes the corner from the other side but Partick Thistle manage to clear their lines.

The home side get things back under way...

Will there be more goals in the second half? I certainly hope so!

The one word of caution I would offer Dundee United is that they are committing loads of bodies forward.

They need to be cautious of the chance for Partick Thistle to counter attack.

It was a difficult 45 minutes for the visitors and, despite some glimmers, they trail at the break.

He does so well to get the ball past the defender and onto his right foot.

He fires his strike from the edge of the box but he just can't manage to find the target as it zooms over the crossbar.
