  1. 'A trend of referees not being prepared to intervene'published at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    FT: Everton 2-2 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manage Ange Postecoglou speaking to BBC Sport: "It's obviously never going to be an easy game here. You have to deal with a fair bit but most of the time we handled it OK.

"In the second half we had good chances and we needed the third goal to kill the game off. Unfortunately we couldn't hold out.

"It seems like referees just let things go nowadays and let VAR decide. We're disappointed to concede so late.

"It seems like there's a trend with us that referees aren't prepared to intervene in those kind of situations, we have to accept that.

"The nature of it, conceding so late, doesn't give us the chance to wrestle it back. We just have to accept that."

On Richarlison: "He's been great, Richy. He worked really hard for the team and he is the one who deserves all the credit. There is more to come from him, he's working really hard to improve."

I do hope all the 'Spursy' comments are coming from fans of the clubs above us. Apparently we are naive but we are also in the top 4 after losing one of the world's best strikers and without three first-choice players. How is your club doing?

  3. 'Brighton to be aggressive from start'published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Brighton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Wise
Final Score commentator at the Amex Stadium

I’m expecting Brighton to come roaring out of the blocks here.

They were out of the game before it had even begun at Luton in the week. Roberto de Zerbi will want to his team to make a statement because he wasn’t happy with that performance at Kenilworth Road. Watch out for an aggressive, front-footed start today.

  4. 'Hodgson is stuck in a rut'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Brighton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on Final Score

I don't want Roy Hodgson to be under any pressure. I want him to be on a cruise enjoying his life. He has done so much for the game and the Premier League. I just feel that he is always going to be under pressure because Palace fans seem to always want that little bit more and they are always not happy with what they have. Palace have a good squad of players and a decent manager, but Roy is just kind of stuck in a rut.

  5. 'Newcastle's returning players are massive for them'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    Newcastle v Luton (15:00 GMT)

    Matt Jarvis
Former Wolves & Norwich winger on the Football Daily podcast

They are huge, huge players [coming back] that they needed. Isak has been fantastic this season. Him and Wilson have flip-flopped and it has worked for them to a degree. Isak is vital to the way they play.

But getting signings back is massive. Having the option of Harvey Barnes back and Jacob Murphy as well. They have got options and I am sure the crowd will be pulling them along. It will be a good test for them against Luton, who are picking up results.

  6. Head-to-head statspublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Brighton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

Brighton could win consecutive home league games against Crystal Palace for the first time since 1988.

However, their only victory in the last nine Premier League meetings was 1-0 at home last season.

Patrick Vieira was sacked as Palace manager after that defeat.

Palace have failed to beat Brighton in five Premier League encounters since a 2-1 away win in February 2021 (D4, L1).

  7. 'Luton are becoming accustomed to the Premier League'published at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    Newcastle v Luton (15:00 GMT)

    Izzy Christiansen
Former Everton and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think they are becoming accustomed to the Premier League and the style of it.

I was really impressed last week with how they played. I heard last weekend that it was 22 passes before they crossed the ball. It is a big feature of their game.

They keep composure around the box. I think Rob Edwards is doing a fantastic job.

  8. 'De Zerbi doesn't deserve to be linked with Liverpool'published at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Brighton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on Final Score

I don't think Roberto de Zerbi deserves to be linked with Liverpool right now. Not with the 16-game record he has had [with three wins, eight draws and five defeats for Brighton in their last 16 games]. It has almost gone under the carpet. We like to talk nicely about their beautiful patterns of play - we haven't seen that for a while now. Today is the day it is going to have to turn up.

  9. 'Disappointing to concede so late'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    FT: Everton 2-2 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou speaking to TNT Sports: "Pretty disappointed, particularly conceding so late.

"We had chances to kill them off that we didn't take. In the end, they got one late.

"That was the only threat they had, we had to deal with them throwing balls into the box all game.

"[Jordan] Pickford pulled off two or three good saves, we got two but just couldn't get the third."

On Richarlison's form: "Richy has been good for a while, not just his goals but his general all-round play.

"All the lads put in a solid shift today."

Luton Town have earned three victories in their past five Premier League matches, having won just two of their opening 16.

They have only lost one of eight fixtures in all competitions since their game at Bournemouth was abandoned following the cardiac arrest suffered by captain Tom Lockyer.

Their 4-0 win against Brighton on Tuesday was their biggest top-flight victory since beating Southampton 6-1 in January 1989.

  11. 'Newcastle are finding their feet'published at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    Newcastle v Luton (15:00 GMT)

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle are starting to find their feet. Really good win at Villa last time out and starting to get people back. I think they are going to start porgressing a bit more.

It has been a topsy turvy couple of months but I think they are starting to find form. I think probably what they did last season is an overachievement.

  13. 'Tottenham didn't like Everton's physicality'published at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    FT: Everton 2-2 Tottenham

    Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is nothing more than they deserved. In all honesty, they were the better team today.

They stuck to their task and they look like they know what they are doing under Sean Dyche.

Tottenham didn't like the physicality that Everton brought into the game. Everton's substitutions worked and you could argue that Spurs' didn't.

Everton kept knocking at the door and they got their rewards.

  14. 'Richarlison finish is natural'published at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    FT: Everton 2-2 Tottenham

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on Final Score

Richarlison is finishing in a really natural way. That is what he can do. Put him in a goal-scoring position and his finish is natural.

  15. 'Another vital point for Everton'published at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    FT: Everton 2-2 Tottenham

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on Final Score

I have to say Everton really played well. In the end they managed to get another vital point to take them out of the bottom three and that could prove to be really important.

For Tottenham, [their goalkeeper] Guglielmo Vicario is costing them goals from set-pieces. He should have done better [for both Everton goals].

  16. 'Brighton continue trying the same thing'published at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Brighton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think when you watch Brighton, there is a bit of naivety and an openness, and that is the way that De Zerbi plays his football.

I think everything went perfectly for Luton but for Brighton they can have those afternoons. I think they never really take their medicine. They continue doing the same thing.

  17. 'I feel sorry for Hodgson'published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Brighton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Izzy Christiansen
Former Everton and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I actually feel a bit sorry for Hodgson but I completely understand the expectations of the club and the fans.

He hasn't always had Eze and Olise available to him all season. Palace can play good football when they are at it and I hope they can get some results together and start to climb the table.

  18. Isak 'might miss a few weeks'published at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

    Newcastle v Luton (15:00 GMT)

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on having Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson available after long injury lay-offs: "It's a massive lift for us especially after Alexander Isak's injury. So to have Harvey and Callum back as attacking players gives us what feels like an abundance of riches on the bench for us today which we haven't had a for a long, long time.

"We're delighted to get quality players back in the squad. We don't think it's serious [Isak's injury]. We think he might miss a few weeks."

Not only are Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson back on the bench for Newcastle after their long injury lay-offs, boss Eddie Howe is at the ground.

Howe missed his pre-match news conference on Friday because he was "feeling under the weather", according to assistant Jason Tindall.

But Howe looks in good spirits and has just conducted a TV interview.

  20. Missing stars a test of character for Palacepublished at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

Brighton v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Wise
Final Score commentator at the Amex Stadium

I’ve just spoken to Roy Hodgson down in the tunnel at the Amex Stadium. He’s clearly very disheartened at not being able to start Michael Olise or Ebere Eze today.

It’s a cruel blow for Crystal Palace to be at their rivals without either of their two star men in their side. A test of both character, and of finding ways to be creative for those who do play for Palace.
