Anon: Jackson is a hero and a villain at the same time. C'mon Chelsea

Myke: Raheem Sterling. These players don't go bad overnight.

Anon: Nicholas Jackson is forgiven. What a pass! What a finish! My breakfast in California got better with that goal.

Robin: Just proves what can be achieved when teams actually try & play against City instead of just sitting back & accepting the loss.

Alan: HELLO title race!!! Chelsea have been excellent, but Pep should be furious with how poor City have been especially Haaland. I know what's coming now from typing this.....

James: Why have Chelsea got their act together before Liverpool play them in the final? Yes City have all the ball, but Chelsea considerably better in all areas.

  4. 'Ritchie is a role model'published at 18:33 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Newcastle 2-2 Bournemouth

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Mixed from us, a lot of good and some bad.

"A breathless second half, similar to Luton where to was end-to-end, entertaining for the neutral. We didn't do certain things well enough and conceded a couple of difficult goals but we recovered really well from those moments."

A good point? "It’s a good point when you're losing so late but frustrating because I think the game was there to be won. We have the qualities to do so but they eluded us on the game.

"Both teams gave everything and with the goal coming so late with have to be pleased."

On Matt Ritchie: "Incredible professional, behind the scenes his attitude and commitment. He really is a role model here. He’s an inspiring character and has given so much to the group. It is good for us all to enjoy his moment.

"It was a valuable goal for us and he’s still got a lot of quality."

On goals conceded: "Goals always change games, the first one is one of those things. Martin [Dubravka] slipped, not much you can do about that.

"He made some good saves before that and the most important thing was how we react from that moment. We did and got the penalty."

On penalty and VAR check: "I had no idea what they were discussing and didn’t see the incident at the time. For me, it was just letting the process happen and respect the decision.

"Delighted to see the penalty given and Anthony put it away so well but I’m don’t know the details.

"We have to look at it as a good point, another game unbeaten. We're returning to hopefully some kind of consistency in terms of getting results."

  5. 'We have to believe we can win every game'published at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Burnley 0-5 Arsenal

    Arsenal

More from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, speaking to Premier League Productions, after his side kept pace in the title race:

"We have to believe we can win every game and we are approaching every game in that way. When the team has that belief and confidence something good can happen.

"We know what standards are required and we have to keep elevating those standards if we want to have a chance.

"I have that belief and confidence [we can win the title] because I see the players train every single day."

On goalscorer Kai Havertz: "It was a brilliant individual action and overall his performance again, like the past few months, was top."

On Burnley's Aaron Ramsey being stretchered off: "The only downside was Aaron Ramsey, it looked like a bad injury. I would like to wish him the best and hope it's not a bad one."

  6. 'We envisaged our second goal exactly how we got it'published at 18:31 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Tottenham 1-2 Wolves

    Wolves

More from Wolves manager Gary O'Neil speaking to BBC Match of the Day after the win over Tottenham: "The gameplan was already set. We didn't change anything. The way they played and they roll the full-backs in then we knew we could get [Hwang Hee-chan] and Pedro in behind and we thought we could play through the press. We pretty much envisaged it how we got it.

Happy to win at Spurs again? "Not personal pleasure. Just pride in the group and what we are trying to do and the feel around the place. To go to Chelsea and win 4-2 and then to come here and win with the players they had available is another fantastic moment with the Wolves fans.

"I think we have to improve in games where teams sit behind the ball and make it difficult for us. I have watched the top sides struggle against Brentford to break them down [like we did] so we have struggled in those games. We tried to be compact when we don't have the ball and then be aggressive with it today. We look a really good side."

  7. 'We had to dig deep'published at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Newcastle 2-2 Bournemouth

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, speaking to Premier League Productions: "A lot of mixed emotions, very similar to the Luton game where a lot happened, a lot to digest.

"Fundamentally we have to praise the players for coming back. We had to dig deep again."

On Dubravka error: "It can happen. A goalkeeper slips and it can be fatal to conceding. He did well to rebound from that and play an important part in the game."

On Gordon penalty and VAR delay: "I'm not in touch with the process, I haven't seen the VAR but I'm amazed at the delay and the length of it. Someone might tell me there's a reason but I'm not sure any decision should taker that long.

"Anthony did well to keep his composure."

On Matt Ritchie: "He is an incredible professional, I can't speak highly enough of him. I've said to him that he's still got a part to play on the pitch. That was a very un-Matt-Ritchie-like goal, especially if the header had gone in direct.

"He's such an important part of what we're doing, he is team orientated and puts the team first. I'm delighted he's got the recognition on the pitch."

On potential Schar injury: "Think it was the shot blocked at the end. He's hurt his arm but hopefully it's not too bad."

  8. 'We were the better team'published at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

FT: Nott'm Forest 2-0 West Ham

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It feels good after a performance like we did. We played really good football, were dominant, were in control, kept a clean sheet which is so important for us. I think we were the better team today so it pleases me more."

On getting the win over the line: "Even with one man less West Ham created a lot of problems and we controlled the set pieces well. Credit to the players for their job today."

On the defensive performance: "They were very aggressive, the distances on top of West Ham players didn't allow them to decide. This is what we are trying to give them, the confidence to release and play their football because they have talent."

On Taiwo Awoniyi's talent: "Strikers are about scoring but for us it's more than that. They have to work, they have to read the game and when the moment comes put it inside the net. We know he's struggling in terms of fitness, it's up to us to manage him."

On the Neco Williams penalty appeal: "It's obvious, I saw the image which is why I'm so confident I'm saying this. I don't understand why VAR didn't give it. They have to speak to each other and understand why."

On how Forest are progressing: "I think we have to go step by step, there's a lot of detail we have to improve. We were able to improve in certain parts of the game but still a long way to go. We are trying every day, the commitment is very important, but we expect even more from them."

  9. 'It's on us to produce a high level of performance'published at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Tottenham 1-2 Wolves

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou speaking to Sky and Premier League overseas after the loss to Wolves: "Disappointed with the outcome. Performance probably a similar feeling. First half we weren't great and allowed them to get comfortable. Second half we got the goal early and had them under pressure. But when you concede a second you make the game difficult."

On whether injuries impacted the performance: "We have had injuries all year and still performed better than today. I think it is still on us to produce that level of performance."

On bouncing back: "We can. There is no other way to go about it. We are disappointed and we have two weeks to go [until we play next] and we have to make sure we are prepared and ready."

  10. 'We cannot concede goals the way we did'published at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Fulham 1-2 Aston Villa

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva on BBC Match of the Day: "The reaction was there, the desire to go again. The 2-1 lifted ourselves and was an important moment. After that we had our chances to equalise. unfortunately we didn't.

"We were punished by the mistakes we made. We cannot concede goals the way we did it. We were too sloppy, we were too open in those moments. They score and punish us.

"Even so we kept believing and forced a goal. We lifted ourselves and the last 20 minutes was everything for Fulham. We pushed them back. We created one-on-one situations. Clear chances to equalises the game and unfortunately we didn't.

"We did not achieve the result we wanted, which I really think we deserved for the reaction we did.

"The players are on the pitch and have to make decisions. Sometimes they are at a very good level, sometimes they are not. We have to work with them and have to improve."

On Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz: "He is a young lad, but he is a young lad who is improving and learning. I really believe he is going to be better and better, game by game. He has the skills to work with and improve. He is scoring goals which is always important for a striker."

  11. 'This is Burnley - people are resilient'published at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Burnley 0-5 Arsenal

    Burnley

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany on a defeat which leaves his 19th-placed side seven points of Premier League safety: "They were better than us, it wasn't a good game for us.

"We've had defeats and come back and said it was a good performance but there were details in the key moments - but today was not good enough.

"We will take it on the chin and focus on the next game. It is important to get momentum in the run of games we've got left."

"This place, in Burnley, people are resilient. If there is one thing we know now for sure, it is people from the outside won't believe in us, so we have to believe in ourselves. That's the only thing you can do.

"We can't let this affect the run of games we've got left."

  13. 'You must not forget the good results'published at 18:29 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

FT: Nott'm Forest 2-0 West Ham

    West Ham United

More from West Ham boss David Moyes, on failing to score in the last three games: "We're missing a really important player in Lucas Paqueta but we don't want to hang it all on him. We've not looked as potent in recent weeks as we otherwise have done. We had to change things up to get through January but the last three games have been disappointed that we've not scored more goals."

On the 'Moyes out' banners in the away end: "I'm really disappointed that we didn't win today and I'm really disappointed with a couple of results. But you mustn't forget the good results, you mustn't forget the wins even this season. We're sitting in a strong position, last season we were sitting near the bottom. It was only three years ago that we were Nottingham Forest and fighting relegation. We've moved on a long way from there."

  14. 'We struggled in the final third'published at 18:29 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

FT: Nott'm Forest 2-0 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I thought the players responded incredibly well, they showed character, a lot of courage at different times of the game. It was a tight Premier League game. We played well going through the thirds and it was in the final third where we struggled and made poor decisions in poor opportunities to score goals. The players did a great job."

On keeping fighting despite going down to 10 men: "I felt when it was 10 it made it much more difficult but the game was tight. Nottingham Forest are in a relegation battle and trying to get out of it. I know what it's like, every game, every point is so important, especially your home games. They made it tough for us as well. I thought in many ways we did a lot of good things, probably just the final third let us down.

On Kalvin Phillips' red card: "They've told me it's a bit tight, the two boots come together. Might be a wee bit of overreaction ont he second yellow. If you push someone then you can be booked. The rules are you're not supposed to stand in the way of the ball and we were trying to play quickly. In truth, I can't say too much becuase it was two yellows and we can't argue with that."

On Phillips' performance: "I thought he played much better, his whole performance was much better. Suddenly the bookings came from nowhere in a short period. The team had done some good things as well and he was part of it."

  15. 'I have never seen something like this'published at 18:28 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Newcastle 2-2 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraloa, speaking to Premier League Productions...

On Newcastle penalty decision: "[The officials] tried to explain what is not explainable. It was impossible. They tried but I am probably not smart enough to understand what they are saying.

"It is a soft, soft penalty but if there is no offside, OK I can understand. Hundreds of times at set pieces players are grabbing each other and nothing is given - but it happens to us.

"Maybe it is a foul but it is offside. The player is in an offside position and affects the play because he was running to get the ball. My player tries to pull him because he has lost the position because he was in an offside position.

"He profits from his offside position, there is a foul and they tried to explain it. I also think the VAR hasn't shown the referee the camera angle that shows he is offside or he would have made the correct decision.

"It has taken then 10 minutes to decide and I am not smart enough to understand the decision.

"When you take 10 minutes, you at least expect them to reach the right decision. I have never seen something like this."

On performance: "My frustration is because we played a very, very good game. The only thing we will talk about in the next days is that decision.

"We deserved to win the game."

On momentum: "Today we played very well in a difficult stadium but it is costing us to find a way. We have won games playing worse than today.

"It is difficult the process and how we have to accept that decision."

  16. 'We can't drop belief because we lost to Arsenal'published at 18:27 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Burnley 0-5 Arsenal

    Burnley

More from Burnley manager Vincent Kompany on what gives him belief his team can stay up: "The hope comes from a good performance against Liverpool, a good performance at Villa, these type of moments give you confidence going into the next game and that you're about to turn a corner.

"At this moment we have to stick together, work hard and approach the next game as though our lives depend on it. But I understand how one bad performance like today can make it harder to convince people.

"The belief in the team and the squad is still there, of course. We were playing a very good team today and you can't drop belief because you've lost to Arsenal."

On what appeared to be a serious injury to midfielder Aaron Ramsey:"It didn't look great. I don't know the extent of it at the moment but we wish him well."

  17. 'Maybe I am not smart enough to understand it 'published at 18:26 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    FT: Newcastle 2-2 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraloa, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Probably before the game a point was not bad. But after our performance I think we deserved three points.

"It is true that we weren't clinical enough in the first half but we went in front and the referee's decisions affected the game then it gets much more difficult."

On Newcastle penalty: "It is very, very difficult to explain. Maybe I am not smart enough to understand it. It's an offside position and he affects the game because the ball goes to [Fabian Schar], my player grabs him otherwise he will go for goal.

"It is 10 minutes with six referees watching the replays. Then the VAR don't show him the image from the side so he can decide if it is offside, they only show it from the floor.

"If they decide it is a foul then it is a very soft foul but we've seen before teams grab players on set pieces and nothing is given. But if it is a foul then we have to accept it. That is a process and we could understand but he's offside, it shouldn't be difficult.

"The ball goes to [Schar], I could understand if the ball went to the opposite side but it goes straight to him.

"My player is not stupid, he knows he has to fight with him because he has got the position from being offside. I really don't understand and cannot accept the decision.

"Obviously he benefits from being offside. I feel like this does not respect my club, we played a good game but nobody will talk about this, only about the decision."

On performance: "We played well really well but one point is not enough. The difference is so huge from one to three points. I full believed we deserved the three points and I have to complain because I don't understand the decision."

  18. 'Watkins was clinical and really amazing'published at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Ollie WatkinsImage source, Getty Images

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery on BBC Match of the Day: "Of course it's a very important win. The players they are focused. They are demanding as well, we are trying to push and be successful.

"Today was a match to show it, and they showed it. They showed it with the game plan we prepared. We were defensively strong and tried to avoid their qualities.

"We had chances to score and were clinical. I even think we deserved more goals. It was a tough match when they reacted with their goal. They had chances to draw, but I think overall we were very competitive and our game plan was imposing.

"We know sometimes we can make a mistake. When it comes with a victory we can accept it. It's important to remain confident with the way that we are.

"We continued with our mind clear and clever, playing with our game plan."

On Ollie Watkins' double: "He worked for it. It was a very tough match for him as well and he was fighting with Issa Diop. Sometimes he was successful, sometimes he was not. The important thing is to try and create chances and be in their box.

"He was clinical today and really amazing."

Right, let's catch up on some more reaction from the earlier games.

  20. City not used to trailing at homepublished at 18:23 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Man City 0-1 Chelsea

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

The half-time whistle is greeted by cheers from the Chelsea fans and it is safe to say the City supporters are not used to this - their side have trailed at the break in their past four away Premier League games but, before today, they had been behind for the grand total of three minutes at the Etihad in the league this season - against Tottenham in December.

City don't lose here very often - their last home league defeat was against Brentford in November 2022, 22 games ago - but they have got some work to do to maintain that record.
