Ben: Those chances are what differentiates Nunez from top tier strikers. They should be hitting the back of the net every time.

Nunez is like Emile Heskey - doesn't score many goals but brilliant to play upfront with

Massive save from Bernd Leno. Absolutely massive.

He's just thrown himself at Darwin Nunez, who was six yards out and hit the ball on the volley. Crucial, crucial save for Fulham.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 89 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

Bernd Leno is keeping Fulham's hopes alive here. This is another excellent save to deny Darwin Nunez's jumping volley from the edge of the six-yard area.

It has been a much better match in the second half.

This might just be Fulham deciding 'we'll take this', they've dropped into a 4-5-1, maybe they are thinking, 'we'll take our chances at home.'

Maybe it's time to play Bradley as right-back and Trent Alexander-Arnold at the midfield.

    Sami, Huddersfield

Darwin's evolution maybe assist and mayhem playmaker instead of goalscorer.

Tambuwal: Curtis Jones is the most improved player in EPL this season.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 84 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

The chances are coming for Darwin Nunez. This is a good effort, on the turn from an tight angle and it would've crept in under the bar had it not been for Bernd Leno flinging his arm up to make a vital save to stop it going 3-1.

  10. 'Jota and Nunez have made the difference for Liverpool'published at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

Wave after wave of Liverpool attack, they are looking very dangerous, particularly down that right hand side with Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez. Those two substitutes have made the difference for Liverpool.

Fulham are a little bit all over the place at the moment, can't seem to find a settled formation and structure.

Nunez's finishing might not be up to scratch but can't deny he makes things happen. 10 assists this season!

Liverpool the closest comparison to Fergie's Utd- they don't start playing until the 65th minute.

    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

Fulham, who missed a great chance to go 2-0 up through Bobby de Cordova-Reid when Andreas Pereira was waiting for a tap-in, are now hanging on to just a one-goal deficit.

Darwin Nunez fails to convert a header as Liverpool push for more goals.

When Liverpool play their way, under the lights at Anfield, in a semi-final, I can't see anyone living with them.

They have taken a little bit of time to reach the standards that they expect but in a five minute spell they have blown Fulham away.

Good football, endeavour, organisation and precision.

  14. Postpublished at 77 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

Liverpool are now looking to take the tie away from Fulham and Diogo Jota runs along the penalty area line, shoots left-footed but can't keep it down and blasts it over the crossbar. It would've been some goal.

  15. Postpublished at 75 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

Darwin Nunez tries his luck with a free-kick, he gets it over the wall, but it doesn't drop in time and is over the top, although Bernd Leno probably had it covered any way.

Yet another assist for Darwin "overrrated", "needs to do better", Nunez.

    Dan, London

I’m utterly perplexed by this game but relieved Liverpool are back in this. Fulham do deserve to win this though they’ve been great and there’s still another leg.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 73 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

A double change for Fulham. Harry Wilson, who moved from Liverpool to Fulham in 2022 after only a handful of senior appearances for the Reds, is on as is Tom Cairney.

Off go goalscorer Willian and pantomime villain Andreas Pereira.

  18. 'Gakpo doing what all good strikers do'published at 73 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Diogo Jota down the left-hand side, forcing Darwin Nunez to make a run outside him.

Drops it into Nunez, who fires a low ball across the box. Cody Gakpo gets across his defender as all good strikers do, and he smashes the ball into the back of the net. Great cut back and finish.

From one down to two-one up in quick time. Substitute Cody Gakpo gets the goal, with a powerful finish, left-footed at the near post from Darwin Nunez's pull-back.

The two substitutes combine and Liverpool hit the front.

  20. 'Huge deflection'published at 70 mins

    Liverpool 1-1 Fulham

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Edge of the box, Curtis Jones just trying his luck.

Took a shot from about 25 yards, huge deflection off Tosin Adarabioyo. Keeper was going one way and the deflection sends the ball the other.

Nothing Bernd Leno can do about it.
