As a Liverpool fan, I'll be glad when Willian retires, at least from the Premier League. Great player on his day, and said day is often against us.

    Ciaran

It’s not that Liverpool are playing badly, it’s that Fulham are playing really well

    Billy

Fulham has got a plan, and that’s to win to night. Excellent play in the first half.

Still a long, long way to go in both Carabao Cup semi-finals, but as it stands it would be Middlesbrough v Fulham in the Wembley final on 25 February.

The winner of that one would not only get their hands on the trophy but also qualify for European football with a place in the Europa Conference League also up for grabs.

Fulham have not played in Europe since going out in the group phase of the Europa League in 2011-12, two seasons after they reached the final of the same competition.

Middlesbrough's last match in Europe was the final of the Uefa Cup in May 2006, when they lost to Sevilla.

Just not enough in the final third from Liverpool, making the wrong decisions at crucial times.

Loads of white Fulham shirts back in the box defending too. When Fulham defend they do so in numbers, and when they attack they do the same.

Liverpool with the lion's share of possession, but Fulham well organised, well drilled and they well deserve this half-time lead.

Almost an equaliser with the last action of the first half. Joe Gomez strikes low at goal, it bounces just wide. And that's the half.

Can liverpool be that bad without Salah and Trent in the team?..painful to watch this first half..🤦‍♂️

    Neil, Liverpool

A disjointed Liverpool full of individual errors and a well coached Fulham team with established patterns of play. Can’t complain at the score line.

    David, Liverpool fan

This is where Trent can make things happen. Still a long way to go

When Fulham go forward Raul Jimenez is causing the two liverpool centre halves, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk, all kinds of problems.

Being physical, holding the ball up doing what all old-fashioned centre forwards used to do. Making things as difficult for the defenders as possible.

Liverpool are not looking comfortable at the back.

    Liverpool 0-1 Fulham

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Anfield

Liverpool fans have been getting frustrated with Fulham taking their time over goal kicks and throw ins but, given the Reds' impressive record at home, the visitors will be determined to drag out having the lead for as long as possible.

The hosts have certainly had plenty of possession but some of the moves in the final third and understanding between players is not quite coming off.

Jurgen Klopp has shown little reaction on the touchline so far but he surely won't be happy with how things have gone so far for his side.

Andreas Pereira collects the ball from Raul Jimenez, gets it on to his left foot and hits a clean strike from 25 yards out. Home keeper Caoimhin Kelleher watches it all the way into his gloves though.

Let's face it, play acting is a blight on the modern game of football. Every team does it including Liverpool.

    Ade, Watford

Simulation is a part of the game (unfortunately). We don't have to look much further than Jota against Newcastle last week. 2/3 steps after rounding the keeper and he throws himself down.....

You have to tip your hat to Fulham at the moment.

When Liverpool have the ball in the final third they are really squeezing the space, getting so many numbers in there and pressing the Liverpool players on the ball.

Then the white shirts that stream back to get into shape after their counter attacks, incredible work,

Do I hear Liverpool fans complaining about Pereira going down unnecesarily, after Jota chose to go down rather than put the ball in an empty net last week? One rule for one….

A pretty frustrating free-kick from Alexis Mac Allister. You have to hit the target there, make the keeper work.

Then you saw as soon as the ball dropped into the middle a Fulham foot was first to it and they immediately had men ready to fly forward into attack.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid, who scored the only goal in Fulham's 1-0 win over Rotherham in the FA Cup, is 12 yards out, but can't collect the ball when well placed and that enables Luis Diaz to get a vital foot in.

Liverpool are building up momentum, winning a couple of corners in quick succession.

From the second one, Bernd Leno does well to come through a crowded penalty area to get a vital punch to it. But Liverpool then earn a free-kick central and just outside the penalty area.
