Just shows the stupidity of modern day footballer. Pereira thinks he’s wasting time, when it will all be added on at the end of the 45. Referee should have refused the medical team coming on for that!

    Scott, Notts

If Pereira is going down like that rolling around and getting the medical team in he should go off for a concussion check.

Liverpool are hunting an equaliser but firstly Ryan Gravenberch and then Harvey Elliott are both unable to find team-mates when well placed.

Pereira showing everything that is wrong with the modern game. His only thought was trying to make so much of it he gets Van Dijk sent off. These cheats need to be stopped.

    Paul, Ipswich

Rolling about for the slightest touch is spoiling football for me. It happens every game, every team and it's now accepted as part of the game when it should be called out by managers and pundits for what it is... cheating.

    David

Surely that should be two yellows for the Fulham player? Simulating + time wasting?

Liverpool are trying to find those little passing triangles but there are so many white shirts in and around the Fulham box that they are finding it hard to get through.

With every pass and shot attempt they regroup back into that 4-4-2 and crowd the ball and chance out.

My nephew is gutted. He's a Fulham season ticket supporter and goes home and away but my sister who's a teacher wouldn't let him bunk school today to go the game.

    Tristan, Hook Norton

Possession is only nine tenths of the law I hear Fulham shout.

We've seen this before. One goal down, time wasting opposition, player diving and adding 12 rolls as he goes. But we are built different, going to enjoy beating this lot.

    James, Bedford

Pathetic from Pereira, pushed in the face? Obviously, but he wasn't caught by 1989 Mike Tyson. Ridiculous that the medical team are seeing to him.

It is a straight arm from Virgil van Dijk, nothing in that really.

I don't think he's intended to hurt Andreas Pereira, his arm was put out to make space and his hand has hit the face of the Fulham forward.

Pereira has gone down like a tonne of bricks has hit him, I hope he is ok but it looks like a hand. It didn't look as bad as the rolls we saw him do afterwards.

When Willian is on song, he's a joy to watch, whether in blue or white!

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 24 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Fulham

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk gets a yellow card from referee David Coote, having caught Andreas Pereira with an outstretched arm, but Pereira has made a lot of it, rolling around on the turf.

  12. 'Twinkle toes and incisive finish through the keeper's legs'published at 23 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Fulham

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

That's not what Liverpool have had to deal with the whole game, bit of defending to do and they've lapsed.

Andreas Pereira gets the wrong side of Virgil van Dijk, nudges it into Willian on the penalty spot then he does the rest.

Nice twinkle toes, dances around some challenges, could have gone down for a penalty but didn't. Edge of the six-yard box and he puts it in between the keeper's legs.

Caoimhin Kelleher no chance, really positive, incisive finish.

  13. Reward for the travelling fanspublished at 22 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Fulham

    Gary Rose

Well that long midweek journey from London has proved worth it for the Fulham fans!

It had been all Liverpool but there were some warning signs with some suspect defending and that was a disappointing goal to concede from the hosts' perspective as Willian's persistence paid off.

The visitors lead and now this is an interesting cup tie.

  14. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 0-1 Fulhampublished at 19 mins

    Willian

This wasn't expected. Virgil van Dijk can't deal with a ball into the penalty area and it falls to Andreas Pereira. He gives it Willian and the Brazilian shows great skill to dribble away from his marker and then past Ibrahima Konate.

Van Dijk can't stop the shot coming in and it ends up in the net, with Caoimhin Kelleher unable to keep it out.

    Fulham strike first.

A rare move forwards for Fulham, but Andreas Pereira can't take advantage and doesn't either shoot at goal or find a team-mate. But some encouragement for Marco Silva.

  16. 'Fulham rushing on the ball'published at 17 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Fulham

Everything Fulham are trying to do at the moment is completely rushed. They are just trying to get the ball away from their own goal as quickly as possible.

Liverpool are now getting into the final third with not much pressure on the ball at all, they are pretty comfortable.

  18. 'Mainly Liverpool as expected'published at 13 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Fulham

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is mainly Liverpool at the moment, which is to be expected somewhat.

Fulham have fallen into a kind of 4-4-1-1 with Jimenez and Pereira alternating in that number nine role, swapping to a five at times, changing their formation depending where the ball is on the pitch.

They have also gotten away with some sloppy play at the back at times too.

  19. Fans bringing the noisepublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

    Liverpool 0-0 Fulham

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Anfield

Prior to Christmas Jurgen Klopp was critical of the atmosphere at Anfield at times but he can have no complaints tonight.

Night matches at Anfield always feel special and it has been fantastic right from kick off, with all sides of the ground making plenty of noise. The Fulham supporters here are playing their part too.

  20. Postpublished at 10 mins

It's all Liverpool so far. Bernd Leno does well to hold on to a low cross from the right with a packed penalty area, before Diogo Jota sends in a dangerous pass but Antonee Robinson gets there with a crucial intervention.
