    Manchester United 0-0 Newcastle

    A big miss.

  2. Team news - Yanez makes Bristol City debut, Haug absent for Liverpoolpublished at 12:06 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

Bristol City v Liverpool (13:00 GMT)

In one of two all-WSL ties this afternoon, Bristol City, rock-bottom of the WSL standings, host Liverpool at Ashton Gate.

While seven league places and 13 points separate the two sides, they did draw 1-1 last month at Prenton Park.

Matt Beard's Liverpool side go into the tie as one of the WSL's in form sides. In the last three games, only Manchester City (nine) have picked up more points than the Reds (seven).

Meanwhile, the Robins have picked up just five points from their 10 league matches this term.

Bristol City boss Lauren Smith has made one change from the side that lost 3-0 to Chelsea last month. New signing Shae Yanez starts in goal.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have made two changes from the team that were 2-1 winners away at Manchester United last time out. Forwards Yana Daniels and Leanne Kiernan miss out through injury, while Sophie Roman Haug is not in the squad, replaced by Marie Hobinger up front.

Bristol City XI: Yanez; Powell, Layzell, Connolly, Mustaki, Napier; Morgan, Jones, Rodgers, Thestrup; Harrison

Liverpool XI: Micah; Clark, Bonner, Fisk; Koivisto, Endergy, Nagano, Hinds; Holland, Lawley, Hobinger

  3. CLOSE!published at 12:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Manchester United 0-0 Newcastle

There are around a thousand or so away fans at Leigh and they are making a right din but the first chance falls for Ella Toone of the hosts.

Her low shot is deflected just wide.

Record 14-time winners Arsenal are hoping to lift the FA Cup for the first time since 2016.

They welcome Women's Championship strugglers Watford to Meadow Park on Sunday, where they will be wearing an all-white kit as part of the club's No More Red campaign, which aims to combat youth knife crime in London.

"It's the third season of the campaign but the first season we've been able to have a women's team wear the No More Red jerseys and I think that's a really powerful message," said Eidevall.

"In order to change things, you have to invest in them long term and it's really pleasing to see that at the club."

Manchester United were beaten in their first FA Cup final last season and actually have less pedigree in this competition than St Helens or Fodens - but I'm sure that is all about to change.

It's almost time to get the ball rolling in Leigh.

  8. Are there replays in the Women's FA Cup?published at 11:50 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Short answer - no.

If any tie is drawn after 90 minutes, we go to 30 minutes of extra time. If the game is still level, we get penalties.

Which could be very exciting for neutrals, and extremely stressful for live texters.

  9. No Kerr for Bluespublished at 11:46 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

Chelsea v West Ham (13:00 GMT)

    Sam KerrImage source, Getty Images

Holders Chelsea are chasing a fourth consecutive WSL-FA Cup double this year, with departing manager Emma Hayes hoping to sign off in style.

Standing in the Blues' way are London rivals West Ham.

Rehanne Skinner's side were out of form before the winter break, winning just one of their opening 10 league matches.

But they have brought in trio Kristie Mewis, Shelina Zadorsky and Katrina Gorry this month, while Chelsea will be without key striker Sam Kerr who sustained an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury this week.

Kerr has been crucial for Chelsea in this competition, scoring five goals across the past three FA Cup finals. How will Chelsea respond?

  10. Can third-tier Newcastle cause a major cupset?published at 11:45 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

Manchester United v Newcastle (12.00 GMT)

    Newcastle WomenImage source, Getty Images

Ordinarily, Women's Super League title contenders Manchester United would be clear favourites for an FA Cup fourth-round tie at home to a third-tier side.

But Newcastle United are no ordinary third division side. And their fans have more than faint hopes of an upset.

Newcastle are five points clear at the top of the Women's National League, having won 10 of their first 11 league fixtures. The other was a draw against second-placed Burnley.

Becky Langley's side went through the entirety of 2023 without a league defeat, earning promotion from the fourth tier of English women's football as they did so.

They started 2024 with a 7-0 victory over Halifax as they target a second successive promotion - and a major FA Cup scalp.

  11. Bonus prize pot this seasonpublished at 11:43 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

The winners of the fourth round matches today will each receive £54,000, with the losing club getting £13,000.

This is a significant increase from the previous season when the winners received £15,000 and the losers £3,750 for the same stage.

The FA announced earlier this season it would be doubling the prize pot for the Women’s FA Cup this year. While there remains progress to be made, this is a good step.

  12. Team news - Strong XI for unchanged Citypublished at 11:42 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

Durham v Manchester City (12.30 GMT)

There is no sense of City manager Gareth Taylor not taking the FA Cup or their second division opposition seriously today.

He names an unchanged XI from the City side which beat Everton 4-1 in their final WSL match before the winter break

Durham XI: McAloon; Bradley, S. Wilson, Salicki, Briggs; Crosthwaite, Hepple, Robson, Lambert; Noonan, Andrews

Subs: Saunders, Pritchard, Ayre, E. Wilson, Nicholson, Ryan-Doyle

Man City XI: Keating; Casparij, Aleixandri, Greenwood, Ouahabi; Hasegawa, Coombs; Hemp, Roord, Kelly; Shaw

Subs: MacIver, Stokes, Houghton, Fowler, Angeldahl, Morgan, Park,Mace, Blakstad

  13. Everton book fifth round spotpublished at 11:41 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    FT: Aston Villa 0-3 Everton

We have already had one game in the fourth round, with Everton visiting Aston Villa yesterday lunchtime in an all-WSL match.

Everton scored three times in the second half to beat Carla Ward's side, Karoline Olesen opening the scoring on 58 minutes before Katja Snoeijs scored twice to seal an impressive win.

One down, 15 to go. Who will join the Toffees in the hat in tomorrow night's draw?

Newcastle became fully professional last summer, the first club to do so while still in the Women's National League for 23 years.

And the Magpies' performances have been matching their lofty ambitions. They have not lost a match for more than 13 months.

So, while Manchester United will be trotting out for their first competitive match since 17 December, Newcastle are in red hot form, having thrashed FC Halifax 7-0 last weekend.

  15. Magic of the cup?published at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

Durham v Manchester City (12.30 GMT)

Our television cameras are today at Maiden Castle, as the side sixth in the Championship host the three-time FA Cup winners.

We may just witness a cup classic. Durham were holding Aston Villa 0-0 at half-time in the League Cup in December, although tiredness did eventually contribute to a 5-1 defeat.

City are unbeaten in five matches, have a star-studded squad and are second in the WSL. On paper, they have more than enough to prevent an upset.

But this is the FA Cup. Anything can happen.

  16. Team news - Malard on United benchpublished at 11:36 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

Manchester United v Newcastle (12:00 GMT)

    Mary EarpsImage source, Getty Images

Manchester United forward Melvine Malard is on the bench after struggling with a calf injury so England duo Ella Toone and Nikita Parris will look to do the damage while SPOTY Mary Earps is between the sticks of course.

Newcastle are without Becky Ferguson but top scorer Bridget Galloway leads the line.

Man Utd: Earps, Le Tissier, Blundell, Toone, Zelem, Ladd, Riviere, Garcia, Turner, Parris, Geyse

Newcastle: Donnelly, Stobbs, Watt, Dodds, Kelly, Barker, Gibson, Greenwood, Galloway, Boddy, Potts

Several games kick off at 13:00, including 14-time winners Arsenal hosting Watford, reigning champions Chelsea at home to fellow WSL side West Ham, and Luton - the lowest ranked side left in the competition - hoping to upset top tier Brighton.
