The conversation regarding whether it be fair to dock Everton on two separate occasions is, I feel, a silly one. If they were docked correctly they would not be in the Premier League now, as it should have happened last year. I feel for Leicester City, as Everton should have been relegated last year after having the 10 points deducted then. To deduct now, after their original deduction for previous failures to comply, is the fairest outcome.

    Brentford

A final word from Brentford manager Thomas Frank on the chances of keeping hold of striker Ivan Toney for the remainder of the season.

Toney is set to return to action this weekend in the Premier League against Nottingham Forest following an eight-month ban due to breaches of betting rules.

"Toney coming back is like having a new top striker coming into the side," said Frank, who dismissed reports linking Arsenal and Chelsea with a January move for the English striker.

"I'm 99% confident that Ivan will be playing for Brentford until the end of the season."

More from Wolves manager Gary O'Neil on the January transfer window: "We have to be extremely conscious, people know the restraints we’re working with at the moment, but they also know that the club have spent money in previous windows.

"The signings this summer and this January won’t be as exciting as previous windows, but we already have exciting players here. Of course, we want to strengthen but let’s see how it goes."

  5. O'Neil 'confident but can't guarantee' January signingspublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Wolves v Brentford (Tues, 19:30 GMT)

    Wolves

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil fielded questions on the club's transfer window during his news conference previewing Tuesday's FA Cup third-round replay at home to Brentford.

He said that while he is confident of making signings this month, he cannot guarantee it.

West Ham United striker Danny Ings is among the players to have been linked with Wolves.

"We’re getting closer every day really until something goes wrong, then you get further away," said O'Neil.

"That’s why we let guys go out early this month to make finances available. I’m confident we can bring players in but by no means can we guarantee it."

  7. 'Injuries seem to be going up' - Frankpublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Wolves v Brentford (Tues 19:30 GMT)

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank said he was concerned by a perceived increased number injuries suffered by Premier League players this season.

"What footballers like the most is to play games," said the Bees' Danish manager before Tuesday's FA Cup third-round replay at Wolves.

"We don’t know how much we can push the body. We don’t know exactly, but the injuries seem to be going up.

"We need to look into that. The football is good, but you can lose fans if there are too many games. The product could not die, but flatten a little bit and we want to protect that as well."

  8. Frank 'all or nothing' on FA Cup replayspublished at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Wolves v Brentford (Tues, 19:30 GMT)

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank said that FA Cup replays should be scrapped in order to protect the competition, reiterating views he expressed after the Bees drew 1-1 at home to Wolves in the third round earlier this month.

"I think it’s important footballers are playing football in many ways, but a replay, I don’t get," said Frank before Tuesday's replay at Wolves.

"I think tradition is important and we need to protect it, [replays have] already been cut to the third and fourth round, it’s either all or nothing, so cut it.

"Protect the most important cup competition in the world, it’s a very important tournament."

  9. 'I would like to get Toney back into the team'published at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January

Wolves v Brentford (Tues, 19:30 GMT)

    Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank admits he probably would have played Ivan Toney in the Bees' FA Cup third-round replay against Wolves, had the game taken place a day later.

After being banned from playing for eight months due to breaches of the Football Association's rules on betting, striker Toney is available for selection from Wednesday, just a day after the Bees head to Molineux.

Toney scored a penalty in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brondby in the build-up to his return, and Frank has said that if he could, he would have picked him against Wolves.

"Maybe, probably. I think he’s an OK player, so I would like to get him back into the team," said Frank.

"It’ll be great to get him involved.

"I think it’s been very clear, I don’t want to let him go, I want to keep him as long as possible, I only have that in mind. My only focus is getting him ready for Nottingham Forest [20 January].

"There’s a small training group, it’s better he’s back here training."

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has been speaking to the media before Tuesday's FA Cup replay at Wolves.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw on January 5 at the Gtech Community Stadium and face off at Molineux with a trip to West Brom in the fourth round up for grabs.

Thomas Frank had some interesting things to say about striker Ivan Toney, who would have been eligible to play - following the end of his eight-month ban for betting on football - had the tie been replayed on Wednesday rather than Tuesday...

    Chelsea

Chelsea supporters have had their say following Saturday's 1-0 win over Fulham, which was their third consecutive victory in the Premier League and left them ninth in the table following the weekend's fixtures:

John: Same old. Too many square and backwards passes allowing the opposition to set up to defend. Only when playing on the break with fast passing, direct running and no faffing about do Chelsea look dangerous. But it was good to see Cole Palmer not suffering from a Middlesbrough hangover and Chilly [Ben Chilwell] back in from the cold.

Ryan: This team, against probably all odds, have actually won four games in a row at the Bridge and found a little bit of consistency. Now with the winter break, Chilly and Carney [Chukwuemeka] can get a bit more fitness. Champions League is out of the question but I think we can at least get some form of European football - if these players take confidence from this home form that is.

Fathi: Still naive when defending, and too many players playing out of position leaving the team imbalanced. While Palmer is scoring, he disappears for long spells in matches and does not create enough for others. Today, Enzo Fernandez was brilliant and involved throughout the match.
