  1. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Right then, off we go with three of the four FA Cup fixtures this evening.

  2. 'A corker of a tie'published at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Tottenham v Man City (20:00 GMT)

City have not scored, let alone won a game, in five losing visits to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but I would be shocked if they don't find the net this time.

I have got a bit of sympathy for Spurs, who have Son Heung-min away at the Asian Cup, while City have Kevin de Bruyne back from injury and the possibility of Erling Haaland being fit enough to play a part here too.

It is going to be a corker of a tie, but City boss Pep Guardiola always goes strong in the FA Cup and, with no Son, that gives the holders the edge.

    Prediction: 2-3

  3. 'I'm as surprised as anyone'published at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Tottenham v Man City (20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, speaking to ITV: "I'm looking forward to it. We had last week off and we weren't used to it after having games all of the time."

On James Maddison: "He hasn't played for quite a while. We have him to come off the bench if needed."

On full-backs: "They've adapted really well and become really important to us. We're going to need the today."

On Jurgen Klopp: "I'm as surprised as anyone else. He's a top manager and they're flying at the moment. We know how much you need to put into this position. He will go down as one of the best. Totally understandable. My only wish is that he stays out of the game for a while for a couple of reasons, so he can give me a bit of a chance."

Bristol City v Nottingham Forest (19:45 GMT)

Bristol City have won each of their past three FA Cup fourth round ties, including a 3-0 victory over West Brom last season.

They are looking to reach the fifth round of the competition in consecutive campaigns for the first time since 1966-67 and 1967-68.

Having beaten West Ham in the third round, Bristol City are looking to eliminate more than one top-flight opponent in the same FA Cup campaign for the first time since 1919-20 (Arsenal and Bradford City).

  5. 'We'll press on and be what we want to be'published at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou says his side will stick to their footballing philosophy against Manchester City tonight.

Pep Guardiola's side have won their last four games in all competitions and thrashed Huddersfield of the Championship 5-0 in the previous round.

"We respect that we are playing a very, very good opponent," he said.

"When you play an opponent of their calibre, your game has to adjust. We know there will be times when we are under stress, irrespective of strategy.

"In possession we are going to continue pressing on and being what we want to be."

Chelsea v Aston Villa (19:45 GMT)

Aston Villa ended a run of eight consecutive FA Cup defeats with a 1-0 win at Championship side Middlesbrough in the third round.

However, they have lost their past seven FA Cup away matches against Premier League teams, with their most recent win coming against Everton in the 1999-00 quarter-final.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates says he is “thriving” under boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 26-year-old has often worn the captain's armband since Forest’s promotion to the Premier League, and it is something he has continued to do since the Portuguese boss replaced Steve Cooper at the helm in December.

“With the new manager coming in, he does put a lot of emphasis on the captain and being that real focal point and that voice in the dressing room,” Yates said on BBC Radio Nottingham’s Shut Up and Show More Football podcast.

“I‘m thriving under it at the minutes, and long may it continue.

“It’s early days and don’t want to say anything too drastic, but you can see the style he is trying to implement, he is trying to play and it is really beneficial to me personally.”

Forest have collected six points from possible 12 under Nuno, thanks to wins against Manchester United and Newcastle over the festive period.

When asked if Nuno was any different to the straight-talking figure of few words that appears when speaking to the media, Yates replied: “The way he comes across to the media is that way he is with us guys.

“He is very diligent, his work day-to-day is very intense, and the training has been very different, but one we are thriving under.”

Will Bristol City manager Liam Manning be the man behind another FA Cup upset tonight at Ashton Gate?

  9. Postpublished at 19:29 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Nottingham Forest have progressed from all four of their FA Cup ties against Bristol City, most recently in the fifth round in 1991-92.

Bristol City have won just two of their past nine meetings with Nottingham Forest in all competitions and are without a win in all four home games in this run.

  10. 'We have to be patient' - Nuno on transferspublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Bristol City v Nottingham Forest (19:45 GMT)

Nuno Espirito Santo says his priority in the January transfer window is "finding the best solutions" for his players that want more game time, but a move has to be to "the right places."

"We have to take care of a lot of situations," the Nottingham Forest boss said. "Ideally we want things done sooner rather than later. That is what you want, but sometimes it is not possible.

"We have to be patient and understand the situation because there are two parts involved - the players we want to bring in and the targets we already have and at the same time the players going out.

"For me, the most important part is to try to find the best solutions for our players, because some of them need to play and some of them need a different project."

Since securing promotion from the Championship in May 2022, Forest have spent a reported £250m on new signings.

In September 2022, the club broke the British record for most signings in a single transfer window after welcoming 21 new arrivals.

"We don't want to push anybody," Nuno added. That takes time because you have a lot of people and parts involved - the club wanting the player, agents, us, the player. Putting all those things together and finding the perfect situation takes time.

"It is finding the right places and the right options for the players going out, because we want them to continue and to proceed in a good way."

Levi Colwill has been replaced by academy graduate Alfie Gilchrist in the starting XI. Colwill had been out with the team but has had to go inside with what must be an injury. A big chance for Gilchirst who has made a few first team appearances this season but this will be his toughest test.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery believes winning a trophy in England is tougher than anywhere else in the world.

The Spaniard didn't win a trophy at Arsenal but he has won silverware with Sevilla, Paris St-Germain and Villarreal.

Villa are only five points off Premier League leaders Liverpool

"I want to be contenders in this competition," Emery said about the FA Cup.

"To win a cup is very difficult, and here in England I think it's more difficult than in other countries.

"I want to do something but every opportunity I have is a challenge.

"I know that everything I've done in different cups in Spain, France or England was an experience for me.

"Here in England, I didn't achieve when I was at Arsenal and last year here in Aston Villa, but I haven't had many opportunities. Hopefully, I will have more."

  14. 'This might go to a replay'published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Sheff Wed v Coventry (19:45 GMT)

These two sides only played each other last Saturday, when Coventry went to Hillsborough and won 2-1.

Sheffield Wednesday are in big trouble in the Championship relegation zone while Coventry, who lost in the play-off final last season, are in great form and in the top six.

It might take a replay but I am going to back the Sky Blues to go through.

Prediction: 1-1 and Coventry to win the replay

Bristol City boss Liam Manning hopes his side can repeat the performance that saw them knock out West Ham.

The sides drew 1-1 in the initial tie at London Stadium with the Robins winning the replay 1-0.

Manning has won five of his 15 games since leaving Oxford for Bristol City, who are 13th in the Championship.

"We're looking forward to hopefully repeating the atmosphere we had against West Ham," he said. "It's an exciting moment for the club.

"You have to take the confidence and the belief from our performance level [against West Ham]. We hit a high level in those two games.

"The bravery to take the game to them was what impressed me most."

  16. Robins backs players to make stand against racist abusepublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Sheff Wed v Coventry (19:45 GMT)

Coventry boss Mark Robins says his players will have his full backing to make a stand and walk off the pitch if anyone is the victim of racism during a football match.

The club's midfielder, Kasey Palmer, reported a racist gesture being directed at him when Coventry played Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough in the Championship on 20 January.

“There’s been a lot of talk that if it happens again, walk off the field, and I think that’s got everybody’s backing," Robins said., external

“And I think if it does happen again then that’s what we should do; the players should be aware of that and are aware of that."

It is deja vu for Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry fans as, just a few days after meeting at Hillsborough in the Championship, they face each other again at the same ground in the FA Cup.

Coventry won the previous encounter 2-1, so the Owls will be determined to get revenge.

Both sides were free scoring in the third round, with Coventry beating Oxford United 6-2 at the CBS Arena, while Sheffield Wednesday scored four goals against Cardiff without reply on home soil.

  19. Postecoglou welcomes Maddison returnpublished at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Tottenham v Man City (20:00 GMT)

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou believes James Maddison's return from injury is a welcome boost to his side, but says they have learnt to cope without the creative midfielder.

Maddison has been sidelined since November with an ankle issue.

"Specifically, for him, in the creative part there aren't too many in the league that are like him and we had to sort of cover that absence in different ways," Postecoglou said.

"Kulusevksi played in there, Gio [Lo Celso] stepped in there and scored some goals for us.

"Our front three have really picked up and have got goals from set-pieces. The beauty of that is that when Madders comes back in, it's not just reliant on him, whereas at the start of the season we were maybe a little bit more reliant on him.

"We found out through this period that we don't have to be, but having him in there certainly adds to that as well."

  20. Guardiola ready to unleash De Bruyne soonpublished at 19:10 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Tottenham v Man City (20:00 GMT)

Pep Guardiola believes Kevin de Bruyne is ready to start games, despite opting to name him on the bench tonight.

De Bruyne has been working his way back to full fitness after an injury in the opening game of the season kept him out for more than four months.

“He is ready and he was ready at Newcastle as well, but always we have the processes to observe to play 90 minutes,” Guardiola said.

“Really soon he will play from the beginning. He trained really well in Abu Dhabi and after every session, the recovery in his leg is behaving well.

“He has to continue to work on and off the pitch. He seems good."
