  1. Maddison on way backpublished at 19:09 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Tottenham v Man City (20:00 GMT)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

James Maddison may only be starting on the bench for Spurs but the very sight of someone who was so influential in their superb start to the season close to a return will be a huge boost for manager Ange Postecoglou.

Oscar Bobb, Manchester City's match-winner at Newcastle United, gets a start while Kevin De Bruyne is on the bench, with John Stones also there after recovering from injury.

  2. Maddison returns to Spurs benchpublished at 19:09 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Tottenham v Man City (20:00 GMT)

James Maddison is back in the Tottenham squad for the first time since picking up an ankle injury in November. He starts on the bench alongside new signing Radu Dragusin.

Ange Postecoglou makes one change to the side that drew at Old Trafford last time, with Dejan Kulusevski replacing Oliver Skipp.

Spurs XI: Vicario, Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Kulusevski, Johnson, Werner, Richarlison.

Subs: Forster, Royal, Davies, Dragusin, Skipp, Maddison, Gil, Santiago, Scarlett.

Still no Erling Haaland in the Manchester City squad but Kevin de Bruyne is once again on the bench, while Stefan Ortega is given the nod in goal ahead of Ederson.

Man City XI: Ortega, Walker, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol, Rodrigo, Kovacic, Bernardo, Foden, Bobb, Alvarez.

Subs: Ederson, Stones, Grealish, Doku, De Bruyne, Gomez, Nunes, Susoho, Lewis

  3. 'Nuno knows he has to improve defensively'published at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

The Shut Up and Show More Football team have been discussing Forest's recent defensive frailties in the latest episode of the podcast.

Since Nuno Espirito Santo's arrival, they have scored at least twice and conceded at least once in all six games - including last weekend's 3-2 defeat at Brentford.

"Forest have scored a fair few early goals and they have taken the lead in a lot of matches," said BBC Radio Nottingham's Colin Fray. "Something is going right in there.

"Obviously the problem at the moment is, yes they're scoring and yes they're scoring early, but they're unable to keep those leads. They have lost 19 points from leading positions.

"Clearly the issues are more defensive than offensive."

David Jackson added: "It's remarkable that they scored one goal in four games before Nuno arrived and suddenly they're scoring at least two a game. Even without the likes of Anthony Elanga, Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi.

"If you're scoring two goals away from home in a Premier League game, you should be coming away with something.

"It's not good defending generally from Forest and they make a lot of mistakes. Nuno knows it, and he knows that's where he has got to improve."

  4. 'Bristol City can be confident of a win'published at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Bristol City v Nottingham Forest (19:45 GMT)

Nottingham Forest are another team who have been depleted by injuries and absences at the Africa Cup of Nations, and I am sure Tuesday's Premier League game against Arsenal will be on Nuno Espirito Santo's mind.

Forest's situation, and position in the Premier League table, is very different to Bournemouth's - especially with the threat of a points deduction hanging over them.

Their desperation to stay up may supersede FA Cup progress for them, and I would not be surprised if Nuno makes changes, which is why I am going for an upset here.

Bristol City were a little fortunate to beat West Ham in round three but they are at home here and they will be confident of a repeat result.

    Prediction: 1-0

  5. Team news - two changes for Bristol City; Forest unchangedpublished at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Bristol City v Nottingham Forest (19:45 GMT)

Two changes for Bristol City from the side that started the 1-1 draw with Watford on 20 January - Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Albania midfielder Anis Mehmeti are in for Scott Twine and Joe Williams.

Bristol City XI: O'Leary, Tanner, Vyner, Dickie, McCrorie, Gardner-Hickman, M James, Pring, Knight, Mehmeti, Conway.

Substitutes: Cornick, King, Bell, Wells, Bajic, Roberts, Knight-Lebel, Nelson, Backwell.

Nottingham Forest entertain Arsenal in the Premier League next Tuesday but Nuno Espirito Santo has gone with a strong side.

He has named the same XI that started that 3-2 defeat at Brentford last Saturday.

Nottingham Forest XI: Turner, Montiel, Omobamidele, Murillo, Tavares, Danilo, Mangala, Dominguez, Yates, Hudson-Odoi, Wood.

Substitutes: Worrall, Williams, Gibbs-White, Toffolo, Vlachodimos, McKenna, Aguilera, Esapa, Gardner.

  6. 'Desperate to win title, not to sign players'published at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Chelsea v Aston Villa (19:45 GMT)

Chelsea are focused on winning trophies rather than signing players, manager Mauricio Pochettino says.

The Blues, who are ninth in the Premier League table, face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final next month.

The January transfer window ends next week.

"We are desperate to win a title, not to sign players - I'm happy with the squad," said Pochettino.

"But we know the last week has the most action and we need to be ready for anything that can happen in the squad."

  7. 'Villa might be thinking of top four'published at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Chelsea v Aston Villa (19:45 GMT)

The cups offer a way for Chelsea to save their season, and they are already in the final of the Carabao Cup after beating Middlesbrough.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have been getting better, it's just not the momentous rise we expected.

Chelsea can't afford not to go full pelt at this game but Aston Villa might be thinking about the top four, and Tuesday's game with Newcastle.

I'd love to see Villa give it a real go in the FA Cup as well, because they have been excellent this season, but I don't know how Unai Emery will approach it.

All of this is making me think that Chelsea will edge it, but I have been wrong about them plenty of times this season already.

    Prediction: 2-1

Manchester City are the FA Cup defending champions and they beat Tottenham's London rivals Arsenal at this stage of the competition last season on their way to lifting the trophy.

However, they have a poor record at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, having lost all five games they have played there, without scoring a single goal.

"That is the reality, (and shows) how tough it is for us," Guardiola said.

"Of course this is a 'final', a knockout game and to go through we have to score goals. Always it is a new opportunity to break it.

"The feeling is most of the times we played really good but the reality is there, no goals, five defeats - so they were much better than us."

  13. From one shock to potential cup shockspublished at 18:44 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    A boost to their rivals?

Football has today been reacting to the shock news that Jurgen Klopp is to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

With his side top of the Premier League and battling in all competitions, that might come as welcome news to those who believe his departure could weaken the Reds.

That, though, is a thought for another day as the focus now returns to on the pitch matters, with some of Liverpool's rivals in FA Cup action tonight.
