There have been plenty of nearly moments since Bristol City equalised.

This time it's one for the visitors as Emily Syme pounces on a poor header in midfield, skips past Anna Patten but then leaves the ball behind when she would have had a clear run on goal.

After another scrappy passage of play, Aston Villa get Kirsty Hanson in down the left channel.

Her cross is overhit, though, and Adriana Leon's ball in is headed away.

Since the goal, Villa have failed to turn promising situations into any real chances of note.

Bristol City win back possession and quickly create a decent opportunity.

Lisa Evans plays a good ball down the left to Jamie-Lee Napier, who cuts inside but the shot is a tame one.

Villa promptly go down the other end and Rachel Daly heads wide.

After a bit of a lull following the equaliser, Aston Villa are back on top and pushing to retake the lead.

They look dangerous whenever they get into the final third.

Villa come forward again and Adriana Leon's shot from a tight angle is saved by Shae Yanez.

Rachel Daly isn't happy that the ball wasn't put across goal, where she was waiting.

Fantastic Cruyff turn from Rachel Daly to win Villa a free-kick.

It was around the halfway line with no immediate danger to Bristol City but that was a superb bit of skill.

The Villa number 10 jinks past a couple of tackles but her shot from the corner of the box is comfortably held by Shae Yanez.

The Bristol City press is working well but it is Aston Villa who nearly profit from putting the opposition under pressure.

Rachel Daly closes down Shae Yanez, who scuffs the clearance straight to Kirsty Hanson but the former Manchester United winger slips at the key moment.

After a brief delay as Bristol City keeper Shae Yanez receives some treatment - allowing both managers to relay some tactical information to their sides, we're back under way.

Bristol City clear the free-kick but Villa come back at them and Adriana Leon, who has been heavily involved so far, wins a corner.

Brilliant work by Adriana Leon down the right and she is taken out by Jamie-Lee Napier.

That was pretty much a clothesline (one for the wrestling fans...).

The hosts come forward again and after Adriana Leon shows good footwork inside the box, Rachel Daly's acrobatic effort is blocked and Mayumi Pacheco's follow-up effort is straight at the keeper.

Villa are pushing for the opener now and another ball over the defence finds Kirsty Hanson.

Shae Yanez comes out to meet her but Hanson lifts the ball into the middle towards Rachel Daly.

The striker is being closely marked, though, and Bristol City manage to scramble the ball clear.

After a very scruffy start, Aston Villa suddenly turn it on and Adriana Leon nearly puts them in front.

Some neat interplay down the left leads to Rachel Daly chipping the ball over the top for Kirsty Hanson down the left.

Her cut back gets all the way to Leon towards the back post but Shae Yanez sticks out a boot to make a crucial save.
