    Stoke 0-0 QPR

It has been a quiet start to the game at bet365 Stadium, both teams very much not wanting to lose.

Aside from that early sighter from Paul Smyth for the away side, not much to report from the opening 15 minutes.

    Preston 0-0 Middlesbrough

The away side make the first real chance of the game.

On-loan Leeds forward Sam Greenwood's shot takes a deflection and Freddie Woodman in the home goal does well to keep it out.

There's a late suspension to tell you about this evening.

Millwall's Joe Bryan will be unavailable tonight while he serves a three-match ban after admitting a charge of violent conduct in Sunday's defeat at Coventry.

The left-back appeared to strike Coventry's Tatsuhiro Sakamoto in the face with his forearm in the first half of the game.

He will miss Saturday's visit of struggling Huddersfield and next Wednesday's trip to promotion-chasing Southampton, as well as tonight's match.

Kick-off at The Den is moments away.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

    Preston 0-0 Middlesbrough

Preston are forced into a very early change as defender Andrew Hughes has to make way after picking up a knock.

Greg Cunningham is on in his place.

  8. Postpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

    Stoke 0-0 QPR

Stoke had started well but the first chance goes the way of QPR, with Paul Smyth forcing a smart save out of Daniel Iversen in the Potters' goal.

It's a clean strike from the striker but the goalkeeper does well to keep it out.

  9. Postpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

    Plymouth 0-0 Coventry

Brad Collins makes a fine stop to deny Plymouth striker Morgan Whittaker at his near post.

The 23-year-old already has 17 goals this season.

  10. Postpublished at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

    Stoke 0-0 QPR

Quite simply a massive game for these two sides tonight, neither will want to be in the bottom three at the end of the night.

Stoke have lost four in a row, whereas QPR are unbeaten in four.

But Stoke are the team taking the early initiative and controlling possession, with the home fans getting behind their side.

  11. Postpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

    Huddersfield 0-0 Sunderland

Jon Worthington has certainly inspired Huddersfield's forward players.

They had just 29 goals in 29 games in the league this season when he took over from the sacked Darren Moore.

They've scored seven in two under the caretaker charge of Worthington.

Ipswich are aiming to stop the rot as they travel to the capital to face Millwall.

A run of four straight wins up to 12 December has been followed by just two victories in 11 matches in all competitions as the Suffolk side have dropped from second to fourth in the Championship, below Leeds and Southampton.

Millwall are without a win in five league games and are firmly looking over their shoulders, four points and three places clear of the relegation places.

If results go against them tonight, the Lions could find themselves just one place above the drop zone.

  14. New signings provide spark for Hoopspublished at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

    Stoke v QPR (19:45 GMT)

QPR's late business in the transfer market has provided immediate results, with the Hoops picking up four points from their past two games.

New signings Lucas Andersen and Michael Frey came off the bench to combine for the latter's first goal for the club and snatch a point in a 2-2 draw with Norwich at Loftus Road.

One week earlier it was loanee Joe Hodge, signed from Wolves on deadline day, who was sent on in the second half by boss Marti Cifuentes and scored his side's second goal in a 2-1 victory at Blackburn.

How they could do with more of the same in a crunch six-pointer against Stoke at the bet365 Stadium, who are on a run of four straight defeats in the Championship.

If they lose tonight and Sunderland fail to win at Huddersfield, the Potters will find themselves in the drop zone.

  15. Preston eye history as Boro target end to winless runpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

    Preston v Middlesbrough (19:45 GMT)

Successive wins have put Preston right back in the play-off hunt and victory tonight could potentially put them on the same points as the team in sixth.

They've got a good recent record against visitors Middlesbrough, with wins over them at Deepdale in the past three seasons.

Another success tonight would give them a fourth straight home win over the Teessiders for the first time.

Michael Carrick's Boro have seen their own push for a top six spot falter on numerous occasions this season.

They travel to Lancashire on the back of three games without a win and in the bottom half of the table.

Still, they do have two games in hand on a number of the teams above them.

  16. Homesick Black Cats head to Townpublished at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February

    Huddersfield v Sunderland (19:45 GMT)

Sunderland boss Michael BealeImage source, Rex Features

Sunderland's bid for a play-off berth is being seriously undermined by their woeful form on the road.

The Black Cats have picked up just seven points from their past 10 away matches.

Huddersfield can ill-afford to be welcoming hosts tonight though.

The managerless Terriers blew a 2-0 lead at promotion-chasing Southampton on Saturday to eventually lose 5-3 and are just two points above the relegation zone.

Caretaker Jon Worthington makes a couple of changes from that game, with defender Radinio Balker back from illness and Ben Wiles coming into midfield.

Plymouth's first season back in the Championship after 12 years away hasn't always run as smoothly as they'd have hoped.

Boss Steven Schumacher walked out to take over at Stoke in December and they didn't register an away win until February.

However, their form at Home Park has been exemplary, with eight wins and just three losses in their 14 games in front of their own fans to date.

Visitors Coventry will pose a stern test to their eight-match unbeaten run down in Devon though.

A win tonight would move Mark Robins' men back up into the play-off spots.

They'll have to do it without influential midfielder Callum O'Hare though, he's missing with fatigue.

If you missed yesterday's EFL action here's a quick recap from a truly bonkers night across the three tiers:

    • Southampton's 25-match unbeaten run in all competitions was ended with a 3-1 reverse at Bristol City and they dropped to third as Leeds won 4-0 at Swansea to record a seventh successive league win and go second in the Championship.
    • Norwich moved up to sixth with a 4-2 home win over Watford before boss David Wagner told negative fans to "stay at home".
    • Bottom side Rotherham gave up a 1-0 lead over Hull City to lose 2-1 and remain 12 points adrift of safety.
    • Portsmouth maintained their six-point lead at the top of League One with a 3-1 win over Cambridge.
    • In League Two, second-placed Mansfield demolished Harrogate 9-2 to match their biggest ever league win.

Today might be Valentine's Day* but it's fair to say that fans of a lot of the clubs in tonight's five Championship matches are not feeling the love right now.

We've got games featuring the teams in 22nd, 21st, 20th and 19th place in the second tier as the battle to avoid relegation intensifies.

Just 25 minutes until it all starts so let's crack on.

*Probably too late to do anything now but hope this helps someone, somewhere.
