  1. Post update

    Portsmouth 0-0 Reading

Just nine seconds on the clock and Reading have the first chance.

Paul Mukairu finds space to shoot on the edge of the area but his effort goes high and wide.

  2. Dragons, Magpies renew promotion battle a year on

Wrexham v Notts County (15:00 GMT)

Wrexham celebrate Ben Foster's penalty save against Notts County in 2023

Notts County’s last visit to the Racecourse Ground provided a memorable thriller – and a decisive moment in the battle to reach League Two.

In a see-saw tussle, the visitors led, fell behind twice and finally had the opportunity to snatch a point in the final minute, only for goalkeeper Ben Foster to pull off a penalty save that earned Wrexham the points.

Ultimately, the Magpies followed their rivals into the EFL through the play-offs, with both sides now eyeing the chance to advance up the ladder again, occupying fourth and seventh place respectively.

Wrexham have scored more goals at home (43) than any other team in the division, yet their recent form is patchy, halting a run of three straight defeats with a late 2-1 success at Sutton on Tuesday.

County were also victorious in midweek, picking up their first win in six – and their first under new boss Stuart Maynard – as they triumphed 3-1 away to Newport.

Here we go then, the action is about to start.

    Good luck everyone!

  5. Leaders County need a reaction against Rovers

    Tranmere v Stockport (15:00 GMT)

    Stockport manager Dave Challinor

Stockport boss Dave Challinor is back in familiar surroundings at Prenton Park – where he enjoyed eight successful years as a Tranmere player – and seeking a reaction to his side’s midweek defeat at the hands of Crewe.

The Hatters’ 3-1 loss shaved their lead at the top of the table to just a single point, leaving them under pressure against a Tranmere side who will also be smarting after a setback on Tuesday night.

Rovers surrendered an early two-goal advantage against Morecambe to go down 3-2, the third consecutive home match they have failed to win after initially building up a head of steam following Nigel Adkins’ arrival in November.

However, Stockport have been strong away from home, with just one defeat in their last 12 league games on the road, at Newport back in November.

Overall, Challinor’s team have not registered successive losses since their first two games of the campaign.

  6. League One round-up

    #bbcefl

Away from the games taking centre stage today there is no shortage of action and excitement in the third tier.

League top scorers Peterborough have lost their last three games, and will want to get back to winning ways against Blackpool, though manager Darren Ferguson has never tasted success against the Seasiders.

In a huge game at the bottom, Darren Moore takes charge of his first Port Vale game away at Cheltenham, with both sides eyeing a chance to move out of the bottom four. Former Valiants boss Darrell Clarke will be in the opposing dugout.

Also in a battle to beat the drop, resurgent Fleetwood host Barnsley, hoping to defy their status as the side with the worst home league record this campaign against the promotion-chasing Tykes.

Time is running out for Carlisle, though. 12 points from safety, the Cumbrians could desperately do with three points at home to Cambridge this afternoon.

Valentine's Day may have been in the week, but there's certainly no love lost between Wycombe and Oxford, who face off at Adams Park this afternoon. 28 miles separate those two sides, but it's Des Buckingham's O's who have an 18-point advantage in the table. A win today would cement their place in the League One play-offs.

A little bit of history is on the line at Brisbane Road today, as there could be a first ever league goal between Leyton Orient and Burton. They did meet earlier this season, but the smart amongst you would have already figured out that one must have finished goalless.

Elsewhere, Exeter will look to make it four consecutive wins on the road for the first time since 2016 away at Lincoln, while Northampton will aim to come out on the winning side against Bristol Rovers for the first time in 12 attempts. Last but not least, Wigan could make it six straight wins against Shrewsbury.

Lots on the line as ever this afternoon.

  8. A poignant afternoon at Adam's Park

    #bbcefl

Adams Park, home of Wycombe Wanderers

It's going to be an emotional afternoon at Wycombe as the club pay tribute to one of their own.

The Chairboys will rename Adams Park for the weekend as part of a tribute to 17-year-old supporter Adam Ankers, who died earlier this month.

He was playing for Wycombe Wanderers Foundation's under-19s team when he suffered a cardiac arrest.

A minute’s applause will take place before kick-off, with the Wycombe players wearing T-shirts displaying Adam’s name and squad number during the warm-up.

  9. Can Addicks pull off upset and pick up first win for Jones?

    Bolton v Charlton (15:00 GMT)

Bolton are well-placed in the race for automatic promotion to the Championship, tugging on the coat-tails of the top two.

They sit just a point behind Derby with two games in hand, and seven points adrift of leaders Portsmouth, but having played three games fewer.

Like their fellow pacesetters, they have been in daunting form of late, losing just one and winning seven of their last 10 league matches. But the Trotters have dropped points in two of their last three outings.

In stark contrast, Charlton are on an absolutely wretched run, without a league win in 14 matches since a 2-1 victory at home to Cheltenham on 28 November.

Their away record definitely hasn't helped matters and you can only admire the loyalty of today's travelling Addicks fans heading north. They have seen their side win just once on the road this season - an almost mythical victory at Wigan on 31 October.

But Charlton do at least have the fresh hope of a new manager. Nathan Jones is searching for his first win after two games in charge, but at least picked up a point last time out from a home draw against Lincoln.

  10. Rams look to end barren Hertfordshire run

    Derby v Stevenage (15:00 GMT)

A run of 13 wins from their last 18 in the league has propelled Derby into the automatic promotion spots, and have moved within six points of leaders Portsmouth with a game in hand.

The Rams know they cannot afford too many slip-up in a top-three separated by just seven points, with all three sides in good form heading into the business end of the season.

To maintain the push Paul Warne's side must halt a quirky run of three successive defeats to teams from Hertfordshire - including a 3-1 loss in the reverse fixture back in late October.

Stevenage are right in the thick of the play-off hunt, sitting just two points outside the top six, but have picked up just a single point from their last three games.

In a long and well-travelled managerial career, Boro boss Steve Evans has made just one previous trip to Pride Park - a 1-0 defeat with Rotherham back in August 2014.

  11. Can revitalised leaders continue their promotion charge?

    Portsmouth v Reading (15:00 GMT)

Pompey appear to have righted the ship and have their promotion charge back at full steam with five wins in an unbeaten six-match run, - they'd picked up five points from their previous six games as they stuttered after Christmas.

The run has left them six points clear of second-placed Derby, having played a game more, and seven points better off than Bolton, in third, who have three games in hand on Pompey.

Their home record is also a major source of comfort to Pompey fans - only Bolton (35) have picked up more points at home in League one than the leaders' tally of 34.

Reading have been in turmoil off the pitch, but Ruben Selles has done a super job to focus his troops on it.

The Royals are on a six-match unbeaten run in the league, with just one defeat in their last 13, and have lost just one of their last eight away league games - after losing 17 of their previous 18!

But best ignore the history books, Reading fans. Your side have won just two of 21 away league trips to Fratton Park and shipped 15 goals in their last five.

  12. League One fixtures (all 15:00 GMT)

    #bbcefl

    • Carlisle United v Cambridge United
    • Cheltenham Town v Port Vale
    • Derby County v Stevenage

    • Lincoln City v Exeter City
    • Northampton Town v Bristol Rovers
