That's the full-time whistle. A comfortable win for Real Madrid all told and they return to the top of La Liga, two points ahead of Girona.

Joselu got both goals, one in each half. It could have been more with Vinicius Jnr missing a couple of great chances.

Getafe also had their chances with Mason Greenwood and Borja Mayoral both hitting the post.

Nearly a consolation goal for Getafe, who have been much improved in the second half.

The ball is worked across the box to Mason Greenwood but his right-footed shot is deflected wide and Jaime Mata, in an offside position, can't divert it back on target.

We're into three added minutes and Real Madrid are heading for three points.

They're convinced they should have the chance of a third goal, too, as Brahim Diaz goes down in the box.

However, the referee only awards a corner. The Madrid substitute can't believe it. He did appear to be tripped.

Double change for Getafe. One last throw of the dice?

Jaime Mata and Yellu Santiago come on for Borja Mayoral and Nemanja Maksimovic.

Carlo Ancelotti makes two subs for Real Madrid as well. Jude Bellingham's night is done, he is replaced by Dani Carvajal- he's on for his 399th appearance for the club.

Brahim Diaz is also on, Joselu goes off after a productive evening.

The home side are starting to look tired now and Real Madrid are able to pass the ball around with ease.

Despite a spirited effort in this second half, Getafe don't look able to prevent this game petering out.

Getafe come forward again but Juanmi Latasa's header is a tame one and Andriy Lunin saves with ease.

Jude Bellingham nearly makes sure of the win for Real Madrid.

He twists and turns inside the area, waiting for the moment to take his shot but in the end there are just too many defenders back and his effort is deflected wide.

Into the last 10 minutes of the 90 and a Getafe goal could set up a very interesting finale. They're giving it everything they've got...

The referee plays advantage after Eduardo Camavinga fouls Omar Alderete.

It's a good advantage as Getafe pour forward and Mason Greenwood whistles a shot just wide of the post.

Nearly an instant impact from Rodrygo as one collects Jude Bellingham's pass and then jinks across the top of the Getafe penalty area.

However, he's off balance as he shoots and the ball flies high and wide.

No goal tonight for Vinicius Jnr despite a couple of very good chances - one in particular.

He's replaced by Rodrygo as Real Madrid try to see this one out.

Getafe should be back in this!

Luis Milla does brilliantly to pinch the ball off Eduardo Camavinga 20 yards from the Real Madrid goal and then find Borja Mayoral with a clever reverse pass.

Mayoral whips the shot past Andriy Lunin but the ball bounces back off the post and Milla smashes the bouncing ball over the bar on the rebound.

That was the chance for the home side.

Real Madrid go close twice in two minutes as Federico Valverde's shot is tipped wide by David Soria before Vinicius Jnr is played in again by Jude Bellingham.

He manages to shrug off the defender but is unable to beat Soria as Diego Rico came across to hurry him.

Chance!

A lovely one-two on the edge of the box between Nemanja Maksimovic and Mason Greenwood gives the former the opportunity to get a shot away.

However, Maksimovic can only stab it wide under pressure.

Jude Bellinghsam collects the ball on the edge of the Real Madrid penalty area and drives forward.

He gets to the Getafe penalty area before slipping in Vinicius Jnr down the left. The winger cuts it back towards the penalty spot but Federico Valverde is beaten to the ball by Omar Alderete.

Jude Bellingham plays Joselu clean through on goal but the striker selflessly turns down the chance of a hat-trick.

He gets into the box before squaring for Vinicius. The Brazilian takes a touch to sit down the goalkeeper but then fails to convert as he hits the ball straight at David Soria as he lays on the turf.

Joselu heads wide when in acres of space in the box but the flag was up again. Offside.

Joselu is on a hat-trick and he has a chance to get after another flowing move.

Lucas Vazquez and Federico Valverde combined down the right before the former whipped in the cross.

Joselu is in space but the ball comes to him at an awkward height and he slices the shot over.
