The England midfielder has been phenomenal for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season but is yet to make much of an impact tonight.

It's just one long ball over the time from Nacho to free Vinicius Jnr, who timed his run to perfection.

The Brazilian forward breaks into the box and opens up his body but his shot is too close to goalkeeper David Soria as he tries to find the far corner.

Good save but Vinicius will feel he should have done better.

So nearly the opening goal for Real Madrid.

A superb ball is played across the face of goal, Joselu flicks it with the outside of his leg boot but the ball comes back off the bar.

David Soria was beaten... but it wouldn't have mattered, the offside flag belatedly goes up.

Getafe are, of course, without Enes Unal tonight. The Turkey striker has today completed a loan move to Bournemouth.

Encouraging play from the home side and Borja Mayoral shows what he can do with a cheeky nutmeg on Jude Bellingham.

Superb switch of play from Lucas Vazquez to pick out Vinicius Junior on the left wing.

He drives inside and gets into the box before a challenge from Djene Dakonam ends the attack. He might be a tad lucky not to concede a penalty.

Down the other end goalkeeper Andriy Lunin nearly gets himself in a muddle after a heavy touch but he is able to scramble the ball clear under pressure from Mason Greenwood.

Real Madrid look to get in down their right-hand side and Lucas Vazquez slides the ball through to Luka Modric in space.

However, the offside flag goes up, much to Getafe's relief.

Victory for Getafe would take them above Valencia into eighth.
