VAR has a little look but agrees with the referee, no penalty.

The Villa fans aren't happy with that call and neither's Watkins who gingerly gets back on his feet.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Tottenham

First proper chance as Villa break forward through Ollie Watkins. Just as he's about to unleash a shot he's taken out by a crunching challenge from Micky van de Ven in the box.

The defender wins the ball but Watkins stays down. That was a heavy tackle.

Hmmm, think I disagree with that one Jacob.

You've got to be in it to win it. Think Spurs getting to the final a few years back, or Chelsea lifting the trophy in 2012.

Sure the qualification the year before may have been "symbolic", but it led to some unforgettable memories.

Champions League qualification is seen as something symbolic, being "up there" with the big clubs but, at the end of the day, look at Newcastle and Manchester United, both of which have qualified last season and neither are even serious contenders for top for right now. Tottenham's focus should be on levelling up and improving as a team, just as Ange said.

What a game we have on our hands - it's a fantastic game.

If it wasn't for Liverpool v Man City this afternoon this is the one everyone would be talking about all weekend.

When you talk about being fresh, Tottenham being a little bit rested. I don't think it matters in these games, I think Villa will know how big this game is. They will know that they have got the advantage and winning will give them a big push.

  6. Team news - Phillips starts, Clarets unchangedpublished at 13:03 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March

West Ham v Burnley (14:00 GMT)

Kalvin Phillips is handed his first start for West Ham since being sent off against Nottingham Forest last month.

The on-loan Manchester City midfielder replaces Edson Alvarez as Hammers boss David Moyes makes four changes from Thursday's Europa League defeat at Freiburg.

Left-back Aaron Cresswell replaces Emerson, who misses out after coming off injured in Germany, while first-choice keeper Alphonse Areola and centre-back Nayef Aguerd return.

West Ham XI: Areola; Coufal, Mavropanos, Aguerd, Cresswell; Soucek, Phillips; Kudus, Ward-Prowse, Paqueta; Bowen.

The team news is very simple for Burnley - they have named an unchanged side.

That means Josh Brownhill, who was suspended for the 2-0 home defeat by Bournemouth last weekend, must settle for a place on the bench.

Burnley XI: Trafford; Assignon, O'Shea, Esteve, Taylor, Vitinho, Berge, Cullen, Odobert, Fofana, Bruun Larsen.

Both these two play a ridiculously high line. Well, ridiculous to me, I'm not a Premier League manager.

Two top Villa stats for you just before kick-off.

Unai Emery has never lost a Premier League game against Spurs across spells with Aston Villa and Arsenal (W4 D2), winning each of his last three. It’s also the most he’s faced a side in the competition without ever tasting defeat.

If Premier League matches ended at half-time this season, Villa would be top of the table.

    On Tottenham's high-line...

When you have got somebody like Micky van de Ven in your backline I'm sure you can do it and I'm sure he's somebody who wants to play high up the pitch because his pace is absolutely incredible.

Would I like to play in it? I can't give you that. If a manager came to me and said I had to then that's different.

It's a fantastic way of playing. Tottenham are really entertaining us this year in terms of how they are doing it.

    On Ollie Watkins...

    Availability is the best ability.

He is a guy who is improving a lot as his career he has gone on, I am seeing more technical ability around the box to score goals.

He is a constant threat running in behind and he has the total package - he is in crazy form.

I’ve been on breakfast-in-bedding, child-prepping, house-cleaning duty this morning in order to clear the slate for this afternoon’s game. It’s a shame I’ll also be welcoming my Villa-supporting mother-in-law for a frustratingly extended visit. Come on you Spurs; you’re literally making or breaking today!

  17. Sutton's predictions: Brighton v Nottingham Forestpublished at 12:46 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March

Brighton v Nottingham Forest (14:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton's predictions

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

I am not sure if it is European football that has affected Brighton, but they are not the team they were last season.

Their home record is still pretty decent, with only one league defeat at the Amex Stadium, but I don't know how much Thursday's Europa League defeat at Roma will take out of them.

Nottingham Forest were very angry last weekend after blaming the referee for their last-gasp defeat by Liverpool - although that seemed a bit ridiculous to me because the winning goal went in a couple of minutes after they should have been given the ball from a restart.

Forest are probably still angry now, though, and I don't see their mood improving much here. I'm backing Brighton to pile on the misery for them.

    Dave's prediction: 4-2

    Bria's prediction: 0-1

  19. 'We're realistic' - Seagulls fan on hopes for rest of seasonpublished at 12:43 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March

Brighton v Nottingham Forest (14:00 GMT)

Brighton supporter Monica Fletcher was in Italy to watch the Seagulls lose 4-0 to Roma in the Europa League on Thursday, and spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast on Friday about the defeat.

"I was at the game [in 1997] when we could have gone out of the Football League altogether," said Fletcher.

"We are pragmatists. Last season was fantastic, and then we lost a couple of midfield players [Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo] that we haven't really replaced.

"I think we're all a bit more nervous about not just going out of the Europa League. We went out of the FA Cup, our form in the Premier League is not quite so good. There are a lot of games to play and we don't have a big squad, so I think we're realistic."

  20. 'Our goal is there regardless of a points deduction'published at 12:41 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March

Brighton v Nottingham Forest (14:00 GMT)

Nottingham Forest are still awaiting the outcome of their ongoing Financial Fair Play hearing, with news of a possible points deduction expected to come in the next few weeks.

Forest defender Andrew Omobamidele says having "clarity" on the situation will "help" the players focus on securing their survival in the Premier League, amid another tough run of fixtures.

"I think having the clarity will help us. But, in the same breath, it's still the same solutions we're going to have to do," he told the Shut Up and Show More Football podcast.

"Regardless of a points deduction or not, we're going to still have to go into games wanting to win, wanting to get three points and wanting to do well.

"So, whichever way it falls, I think we just need to stick together. Our goal is there, regardless of a points deduction or not.

"It's something we can't control. We can only control the controllables, as a player. I think it's one of those things where we just need to knuckle down and stick together."
